  1. Wouldn't a reasonable price be the current sales of a 5.0 as seen on Ebay completed listings or Heritage website or what goCollect/GPA lists for a 5.0?
  2. Costs & shipping depend on how many you submit and what 'tier levels' they get submitted as. A basic answer when submitting is to try and maximize submissions for the same tier. CGC considers books at each tier level as a separate order. So if you ship 4 books and based on year/Fair Market Value, they end up in 4 different tiers, then you get 4 shipments of 1 book each (rather than 1 with all 4) Take your time and educate yourself on the whole process. Rushing in can lead to mistakes
  3. high grade Wonder Woman George Perez lot of 23 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324174757408 9.8 Wonder Woman #1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324175310525 9.6 Wonder Woman #9 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324175321726 X-Men 221 (Mr Sinister) #9.6 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324175659882
  4. Put some pics/scans in the Buddy can u spare a grade forum and then look at gocollect and eBay sold sales for those grade levels to get FMV ideas
  5. Rented it the other night and was quite disappointed. They didn't do the Harley character any justice with that movie
  6. according to the bid history, there's someone with a feedback of just 1 who made several bids and kept pushing the price up. Their bid history has 121 bids in the last 30 days over 30 auctions - mostly silver/bronze age books. Shill bidder?
  7. Bought this back when I was a teenager. Got this back from CGC last September. GoCollect had it listed at $1300 then - now at $925 Now that the Swamp Thing series is getting picked up by CW maybe some heat will get re-generated
  8. Ali vs Supes: Bought all these via mail order catalog - poss Robert Bell back in the day
  9. Nice!!! you should def spend the time to learn the in/outs of grading and selling cause you have a great stash there! So how on earth did you end up with Spiderman 2-280 and not have issue #1???
  10. For 1 single data point - I just saw a CGC 7.0 purple, due to C-1, X-Men 94 sell for $275 on Ebay Blue 7.0 universals recently sold on Ebay seem to be around $400 That's about a 30% drop
  11. What if I submit a comic under Value when it turns out to be Economy ? CGC *could* charge you the additional amount. From what I've read on the boards that isn't a common occurrence though I have read posts of it happening. IMO, I wouldn't worry about that and I would say to pick a FMV you're comfortable with if something happens to the book. Will CGC ship the tiers back to me separately (so basically this doubles the shipping costs) ? Yes, if you submit books in multiple tiers, they'll become separate orders . What I don't personally know is if you submit in 1 tier, and CGC end ups charging you for a higher tier for some of them. I would imagine CGC wouldn't be doing that until after they are graded, otherwise how would they know what the value is (unless they do some type of internal pre-screen for that sort of thing). Best to call them if that's something you're worried about. (or email at submissions@cgccomics.com ) Also I wanted to submit Giant Size X-men 1 (1974) and X-men 94 (1975). Depending upon the ultimate grade, they could be quite valuable I'd say to put some pics/scans in the 'Spare a Grade' forum and then you'll hopefully have a better idea what they are worth. FMV determines tier level, CGC insurance reimbursement and postal insurance back to you. Myself, I have both declared appropriately fair value and have 'taken chances'. It's all up to your personal level of risk
  12. How many do you have? There's a forum here named "Buddy Can you spare a grade" where you can upload pics/scans of a book for opinions on a poss grade. Then you could look at resources like GoCollect.com/Ebay completed sales etc to get a feel for what that grade is selling for. There's other resources for ungraded (ie raw) prices like the Overstreet price Guide & various websites. One thing you shouldn't do if you're new to this is rush into it.
  13. The FMV value you put down also affect your return shipping (due to insurance costs) I would suggest to put some good scans of the covers on the "Buddy can you spare a grade" forum and you will hopefully get some good opinions on possible grades. From there you could use free resources like goCollect/Ebay completed sales etc to see what those grades are selling for. The FMV you put down also affects the service Tier (turnaround times & CGC fees)
  14. There's a thread here somewhere about scanner settings, probably been a while since the last post. Sounds like perhaps you're not using the right settings for it. As far as pics, try them outside with a good amount of natural sunlight rather than in the house.
  15. go on Ebay and find a used copy of the Overstreet Grading guide (or just buy a shiny new one) CGC doesn't publish their grading standards as to diffs between each individual grade but the O/S guide is a very good resource to educate yourself about grading
  16. I read that Wonder Woman was pushed back to Aug 14 and Malignant won't open on that date due to that
  17. looks like some type of ink if you're talking about the top of the back cover I could see 6.5
  18. Seems like a fair grade and nothing in the notes indicates a press would help. Poss that back cover could be cleaned up a bit
  19. The story I read implied they picked up due to the need to have content rather than developing it further.
  20. well I Imagine the order is under your friend's account. He may be the one who would have to contact CGC about getting extra service. Did you happen to take pics of the book before submitting it? If so you could post them on the "Spare a Grade" forum for opinions about the condition &poss need for a press I also have a 30-40 year old collection (incl a Hulk 181) which staying at home last year for a couple of weeks due to my wife's recuperation gave me time to go thru them all and get back into the hobby. Good luck!
  21. 1st impression is also about 7.0 On the back cover shot near the top of the right edge, there's a discoloration. Is that a water stain? There's a slight spine roll and the right front edge looks a little curled at the bottom, plus some marks on the back cover which maybe a clean would clear up, not sure. So poss a clean/press could get another .5 That's assuming there's no water stain mark
  22. I'll say 4.5-5.0 back cover has a good amount of soiling and maybe brings it down from 5.0
