  1. Slightly slower, but finally got shipped! The #106 got an 8.0(7.5, 8.0) WHITE pages and the Captain Marvel #26 got a 9.4 WHITE pages!!! A little confused on that one, the comments say 9.4 on both interior and exterior, but the grader notes say 9.4 interior, 9.2 exterior. Could the grader have said 9.2 then it got upgraded when it went through QC? Super stoked on these two, either way! The CM #26 will be going up for sale when I get it back(my first CGC "flip"). The ASM #106 is going in the vault.
  2. Just got these two graded: Not what I had hoped for, but still high grade with white pages! Are they now so aware that white covers don't show as much wear that they go over them with an electron microscope?? Guess I should have greased the wheels with a press?
  3. Nope, Modern Fast Track. Just sent in two more via Walkthrough: Amazing Spidey #106 double cover(one of my favorite books of all time) and Captain Marvel #26 double cover. Both in similar condition as the two older ASMs I just sent. It will be interesting to see if I get them back any faster. I'll keep y'all updated.
  4. My only TRIPLE COVER! Love that this has white pages. May be the lowest graded of the bunch, but this is still my favorite. Romita outdid himself on this cover!
  5. After refusing to send two signed books on to the Beckett side for authentication, I informed him that both books were 100% legit. One was a CGC SS crack out and the other was eventually proven to have been signed for a family member of the signer. When I IM'd him and asked for the help he offered in the forums, he didn't respond. After a week and a half I told him I would have to let others know about my experience. He finally responded and stated that "we don't respond kindly to threats and with your attitude you won't get help." But this was near the end of his tenure, so like I said, it's apparent to me the move away from CBCS was something he probably needed. My friend who runs a comic book store and pressing service in the south SF Bay area was offered to get in on the ground floor with CBCS but he didn't want to move...sure am glad he refused. Whatever their original intentions, they have become truly lost.
  6. I think there needs to be a huge scandal for the professional grading thing to go away. Bad business decisions won’t be enough. There are plenty of mismanaged companies that continue to exist(some even thrive). The corporation called the United States of America proves that every day.
  7. I consider him Dr. Frankenstein. He (helped) create the monster, but now it's just out of his hands. I think he'll be a much happier fellow now.
  8. I will give CGC credit for at least one thing: Free speech. Try being even slightly negative on their boards about what the er... Distinguished Competition is doing and you'll get a torrent of "Hey, man don't burn your bridge!". This is how I felt about that:
  9. Wow. Lightning fast. Must have gotten lucky and got the test stream. Already shipped. 151 is 7.5, 156 is 8.5 and the 360 triple cover came back a 9.6! I scan 'em and show you once they arrive!
  10. Nice. I love Englehart and Starlin's Midnight(Who eventually battles Silver Surfer as Midnight Sun when Englehart was writing that). I had a NM Raw Master of Kung-Fu #17 double cover that I sold a few years back. It was nice. I wish I would have had it graded now.
  11. At this point, just the MJ insert gets a premium, I don't think MJIs with star stamps have really caught on yet. But I know I prefer them as it's an indication it's got the insert on the front cover.
  12. lol, that's what "Id-jit" gets corrected to around here? Nice.
  13. That's what I need, a Silver Age ASM double cover. I had a #35 CGC 8.5 but like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person I sold it.
  14. I'm kind of a double cover freak. My graded double cover list at the moment(most are in my "vault" never to be sold!): Amazing Spider-Man- #135 CGC 7.5(1st Cover 5.5, Interior 7.5) #170 CGC 9.6(1st Cover 9.4, Interior 9.6) #174 CGC 9.8(1st Cover 9.8, Interior 9.8!!!) My only CGC 9.8,9.8 #200 CGC 6.5 Not a DC, but has interior inserted twice and pgs 17-24 are upside down! #238 CGC 9.8(1st Cover 9.6, Interior 9.8) Older case too... #240 CGC 9.6(1st Cover 9.6, Interior 9.6) #252 CGC 9.6 SS(1st Cover 9.4, Interior 9.6) Also has the interior inserted twice(thick case!) and is signed Stan Lee(of course right over Spidey!)! #257 CGC 8.5(1st Cover 8.5, Interior 8.5) #270 CGC 9.6(1st Cover 9.6, Interior 9.6) #280 CGC 9.8(1st Cover 9.6, Interior 9.8) #281 CGC 9.4(1st Cover 8.5, Interior 9.4) With Mark Jeweler insert! #299 CGC 9.4(1st Cover 9.0, Interior 9.4) #312 CGC 9.8(1st Cover 9.0, Interior 9.8) #361 CGC 9.2(1st Cover 9.0, Interior 9.2) 2nd Print(plenty of 1st prints out there, but just try and find a 2nd!) Couple of non-ASMs of mention: Daredevil #168 CGC 8.0 has extra cover inserted at centerfold! and Thing #1 CBCS 9.8(1st Cover 9.8, Interior 9.8) Just sent in three of the raw high grade Amazing Spidey DCs I have accumulated over the years: #151, 156, 360(Triple cover on that one!). Chose Modern with Fast Track, so I figure by Labor Day. I'll let you all know how it goes.
  15. I just got a ASM #177 CGC 9.6 white pages with a star stamp. It's an older case which means it probably isn't pressed and all I can see wrong with it is a slight wave at the top of the back cover that would easily press out. So...anyone have a CGC 9.8 MJI with a star stamp? (Or is a stamp a deal killer in 9.8?)
  16. Or someone bumped his elbow in a packed convention hall while he was signing? Autographs are not performed in a vaccuum.
  17. Ah, 1994...when Stan still cared about signature placement(rather than over Spidey's or Polaris' face). Cool books!
  18. I wouldn't put it past him... I still wouldn't put it past him...
  19. The other thing I always liked about his signature(especially when he was younger) is that you ]can almost make out "StanLey"(His real name) as though the underline was completing an angled stylized "Y".
  20. That has the old "L" which I like better. At some point after 2006 he started looping the L, but I love the vintage L that almost looked like a severely angled Z.
  21. Stan's sigs present a much bigger issue than someone who rarely(I'm not even sure that word is really apt) signed books like Ditko. This brings me to a recent event that occurred to me. In early 2021 I bought a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #38 that was qualified CGC 6.5 with "Two names written on the cover". One name was Stan Lee, the other was Steve Ditko. Now...I know Ditko rarely signed books. And when he did sign them it was even more rarely on the cover. However, there was something about this that seemed different to me. He even put "Regards,..." before he signed his name and I was pretty sure he never did that on comics. Still, the price was right even with the Stan sig and that looked authentic to me. So I bought the book and sent it off to...the other guys to get re-graded and (hopefully) authenticated. They rejected it before it even got past grading. When I got it back the tag said "Bad sigs" as the reason. They were apparently so offended they rejected the other book I sent and I know those sigs were good since it was a CGC SS crack out. So, fast forward a few months and I decide to sell the ASM 38. Of course, I stated in both the title and the text of the ad that I wasn't certain about the Ditko signature. About a couple of days into the auction I get contacted by someone with the username "ditko59". He asked if I was the one who bought it back in 2021 and offered me less than the starting bid(which was rather high). I said I would wait until the auction was over since it had a lot of interest. He then offered me the starting bid. I figured he must be a Ditko fan and I really wanted the book to go to a good home and not someone who would flip it, so I accepted. After he received the book he messaged me to tell me he was Mark S. Ditko, the nephew and godson of Steve! And that this book was originally bought by him in 1992, and he had it signed personally by both Stan and then Steve a while later! Apparently, he gave it to a relative who eventually sold it and now he finally had it back! I told him he should thank the nice(not so nice--another story for another time) folks at CBC---well, you know. Because if they had authenticated the signature I would have never sold it! I will now show you the signature. And, it's a weird one because Steve put these large squiggles when crossing the "T"s, something I don't think he ever did. But, it dawned on me prior to my knowledge Stan had signed the book before he did that Ditko probably penned the large squiggles on the "T"s in a sarcastic way to spite Stan... I guess the moral of the story is that like so many things in life, you can't judge a book by its cover(and that is so true in "regards" to comics in general)!
  22. "Solid mid grade" $439.99 (I got my CGC 8.0 for $500) https://www.ebay.com/itm/175264729034?hash=item28ce9787ca:g:1TAAAOSwBsVibqYv
  23. I waited and got another copy for $200(I know I probably overpaid...but it completes a HUGE run). I think it looks nicer than the 7.0 and it even has a star stamp! I had offered the 7.0 seller $100 hoping he'd come back with 200 but he scoffed---I hope he sells it now since it will make what I paid for this all the better. I'm just five away from the entire collection! 160, 164, 167, 174, 181.
