  1. How many BLACK Amazing Fantasy #15 variant covers are there out there? Another sign that Spawn is the more popular character.
  2. Honestly, I didn't even know Spawn was still being published.
  3. my goal is to buy every copy available i say it will take me about $10 and a pack of tic tacs. Good luck Gilbert, it will take more than $10 and a pack of tic tacs to pry my precious copy from my stubborn hands. Ah......was that the regular size tic tacs or the jumbo size? What flavor? I have two rare newsstand variants (varients for you true Spawn fans) that a sweet pack of tic tacs may just be enough for.
  4. This thread is so much cooler than the AF #15 one. No one is offering to draw pictures over there. Maybe I will revoke my membership in that club to focus my efforts here. Hey, how was the read along? I missed it, I was changing out the Mylars on all 134, 587 copies of Spawn #1 and couldn't make it.
  5. Variant? There was a variant cover. Acck, I need it. What was this from? Was it published at the same time as the original or later? S-V
  6. Is it true that the first 790,000 people get free Spawn decoder rings?
  7. Only if I can spell Variant all cool with an "e" and such.
  8. Based on the sucess of this Spawn Club, I have decided to trade my AF #15 for an equivalent number of Spawn #1s. I see a lot more potential in this Spawn book then most ascribe to it.
  9. The thing I have always loved about Spawn #1 as it doesn't appear to have suffered from that dreaded Image chipping, unlike Amazing Fantasy #15. Make Mine Image Every Day!
  10. Can I join? Please. I think I have two copies. Newsstand editions. Somewhere.
  11. Nice books. I have always loved the cover to ASM 45. Does anyone else have a particular fondness for Spider-Man yellow covers? ASM 97 is my all time favorite.
  12. You think? Given that the ad is from 1976, I wonder whether the music veers closer to classic rock or to disco. I too am needing to hear this. Could you even find a record player to listen to it on?
  13. Ok, thanks for sharing. I have updated my thread to include this location of distribution. I have seen another from this general area. I saw a beat up copy sell for $42 dollars not long ago. This is a tough book and us Spidey fans are completist. Good find.
  14. Here is the link All Detergent ASM 184 Where did you pick it up at?
  15. Strong Guy, this is the All Detergent Amazing Spider-Man 184 copy. Like most, yours does not have a sticker. I have done a little research on it and have started a thread over at Stlcomics. com I'll link it.
  16. variants still suck Couldn't agree any more. Please send me yours and I'll get rid of them for you. did you quit making variants in your basement? Yes, my price sticker gun broke long ago.

  18. Awesome books. I always loved that cover to 148, especially the blue. I remember these fondly as they were some of the first Spideys I bought off the racks. Thanks for sharing.
  19. That's great. I still remember the excitement I had when I got my copy. Hopefully it will grade out nicely for you.
  20. Nice comic! Stupid sticker. That is a beautiful copy. I need to upgrade my copy one day. Does it bother anyone else as much as me that Gil Kane left the spider off of Spider-Man's back? Of all the Spidey issues out there, I can't think of another that has Spider-Man drawn so incorrectly. UM...Go take a look at Kirby's rendition on Strange Tales Annual #2 and let me know what you think Ok, no spider on the front of the costume, the eyes are small, and just overall poorly drawn on that Strange Tales Annual #2. I never thought Kirby could draw Spider-Man though. Gil Kane actually didn't do a bad job, and looked very good when teamed with Romita.

  22. The 135-137 Harry storyline, the 119-120 Hulk battle and the classic 121-122 death of Gwen storyline are my three favorite bronze Spidey runs. The thing that I liked about the bronze age Spideys over today was the character developement. That's probably driven by the amount of word balloons used then as compared to today, but it's not like they couldn't use more today. But I think the artist then (Romita, Kane, primarily Andru) really knew how to capture expression in the face of the characters. It really added to believability.
  23. I agree with all you state, though some of us had a great time completing our runs pre-ebay. It is definitely a lot easier today (especially if you have cash). I just remember as a kid waiting with anticipation for those mail order packages to arrive to see what goodies (and in what condition) would arrive. This is a great thread I love reading and wish I were adding more to it. Thanks to all the contributers.
  24. I'm always surprised that you got the 35 cent variants completed before the 30 cent ones.
  25. was there a superboy 31 version? Yes, Metarog, I would be interested to know the answer to this one as well?
