Almost a perfect episode.  The only thing I wish was...

      Hide contents

an extra few minutes and more action at the end (i.e. not the action tease we got).

Yeah, I get that since we were in Steven's point of view, they wouldn't show the action bits when Marc takes over. But when we finally get the Marc reveal at the end, cutting away from the action felt really lame to me. Kinda soured me on the episode as a whole.

I read suicide squad's was closer to 125 million than 150.

I haven't seen batman's but if it was less than 200 million I would be surprised., using no time to die and F9 as recent  "Corona" comps that also got full worldwide releases (suicide squad did not, and it was 6 years ago).

Didn't No Time to Die's P&A costs baloon since it had to do 2 seperate rounds of P&A years apart? If we are going to use No Time do Die as a fair comparative estimate, it's figure should be cut in half.

IMO it could arguably be the biggest Marvel book of all time across any age.

I legit see it as the true marvel grail, regardless which Marvel book may be worth more.

I'm not "upset" it didn't do better.  I'm disappointed it didn't.  I think a lot of people just don't like the casting.  I certainly do not.  Batman's popularity is just fine, but Warner has certainly tainted the brand in the movies of late.

But if you don't like the casting, and believe that's the reason, then why the disappointment? Wouldn't that validate your assessment of the situation?

For instance, I am a transformers fan and absolutely hate the Michael Bay films. But they were making billions, one after the other. I was just hoping that the other shoe would drop one day and these films would be seen as the naked emperors they are. Well, finally the Last Knight was just too garbage of a film for even China to care and it lost over a hundred million dollars. While it's a franchise I care for, I was glad the film failed and not dissapointed since it made the studio rethink what to do with the franchise. And the next film we got was my personal favourite of the bunch.

    Okay. :eyeroll:

You all can go right on ahead pretending this movie made a killing, even though its entire worldwide theatrical run will be less than the last 2 batman movies from 10+ years ago and less than what spider-man made domestically alone last/this year.   (thumbsu

Are you upset that it isn't doing better? Or do you think it makes sense that it is not doing better? Do you think DC's popularity, and Batman's popularity, is not what it used to be?

Honest question cause I'm actually curious...any shock/surprise that this movie got knocked out of the #1 spot so quickly?

    ***The Lost City...(shrug)

I was surprised. But it only made a little less than what I expected. The surprise is more about how well Lost City made. Those are great numbers even in non covid times.

    Ms Marvel #1 8.0 WP

bottom staple popped from front cover - this book certainly did not start out with a popped staple, and no sign of one at any angle I can see through the case. Cover and staples were tight with WP. Something happened.

Are you 100% certain this is the same book you sent? CGC has been known to mix books up. If you compare with a scan before you sent them in, do all your books match up?

2 questions here, hope they both haven't been touched on. I sent in some books legit last year to be graded and they are finally being shipped back today!!! Very happy, but i was looking at the grades for some (and I'm no grader), but i did pay to get them pressed there also and there were a very things that perplexed me. To begin with i sent in a Black panther and Ms Marvel #1 I didn't expect either to get that great of a grade so not too much of a gripe on the grade than it is pressing and cleaning. Well i guess that's my first question, does cleaning not come with it? My Black Panther came back with a graders note of "very light finger prints on back cover".....like, that's not something they clean off and get rid of during the pressing? And the Ms Marvel said "moderate spine stress lines to cover" I'm guess it just couldn't be pressed out? (obviously) lol.

Last question involves shipping back, I just checked my submission tracking today and it says "status: shipped" do they not email you with a tracking number or anything like that? Anywho thanks for your time and responses.

Cleaning comes with it. As for your other questions, I have realized that pressing is not the be all end all service to make your comics nicer. It really mainly fixes 2 things: Spine roll and non colour breaking creases.

Neither of the issues you mentioned are guaranteed to be removed with a press/clean. Especially that spine stress. Stress lines cannot be removed, only creases. So what happened is the press removed the creases but kept the crease lines, which don't go away. So you get a flatter book but the grade is the same since the non pressable lines will make you lose points just the same.

Nice vibrant colors are always #1 for me.  I would go for a lower grade book with great color and gloss vs a higher grade with fading color.

Even if the lower grade book with the great colours was selling for the same price as the higher graded book? That's the question here. Will you pay multiple times guide price for nice colours, as is the case with the fiction house books mentioned in this thread?

Anyways, I found myself a worlds finest 90 with phenomenal colours and wanted to share (sorry about the glare but that gorgeous blue was captured well)

This book was shipped form FL to CA.
Packed well, double boxed. The case is not cracked.
Can the book shift inside the case and get damaged?

Yes it can, this is a common issue. It means that there are potentially a bunch of CGC 9.8s out there that are not actually that grade.

Based on what you guys are saying, it seems like I have to check Skyfall out. Is that the one with the Nazi from Inglorious Basterds? I may have caught some of it on TV before.

No, Skyfall is the one with Javier Bardem, the guy from No Country for Old Men. I think you'd like it, it has a bit that I think was taken directly from the Dark Knight. The one you referred to is Spectre. The problem with that one is that it does one of those retcons of "this was the plan all along" or "everything is connected" and it just does not work.

To anyone who watched all these movies, I think the scene I like the least in all of them combined is that part around the end of Spectre where Bond walks through a corridor and pics of all the people from the previous movies are jut pasted there. It's the laziest ploy at a "connection" I have ever seen.

Which are your top 5 Bond films?

Which two? My favorites are Casino Royale and No Time to Die.

I really like Skyfall (aside from Bond having sex with a former child slave right after she tells him she was a child slave). The rest are really hit and miss for me. I know Casino Royal gets a lot of love but I have way too many problems with the Mr White stuff and how it muddies what could be a more straight forward movie.

Are Skyfall and/or Spectre any good? I ditched the franchise after my brother and I watched Quantum of Solace and we both thought it was trash.

Skyfall is great. Of all the Craig Bond films, it's the one that can simply be popped in randomly, with no connection to other stuff and enjoyed like you'd enjoy any other bond film of the past 60 years.

Quantum was the low point of Craigs run. Skyfall was great and SPECTRE had its moments. While I’ve seen hate for SPECTRE here, I believe the opening sequence is one of the best ever for a Bond intro. And No Time to Die is a must-watch.

Yeah, I like the opening in Spectre as well, except for that couch.

No Time to Die has a ton of stuff happen but I find the main villain stuff so bewildering. he looks the same age as Madeline Swan and yet was a grown man when he first meets her as a little girl. And I have no clue what his poison island and that acid lake has to do with the nanobots. I don't even know where he is sending the missiles to at the end and who he's targetting. Kinda sucks that he's the vllain who's ultimately responsible for Bond's demise.

    Also....

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY @Bosco685!!!!!!!!

I am not making anything up. The WOM on this film is not great here, as was evident at the comic/toy show this weekend.

I got to admit, that is one funny line from you. If you are grounded and looking at this in an even headed way, you should avoid anecdotal evidence like this. Some fanboys at a comic/toy show said it wasn't good= flop. Come on, it sounds like you are describing what the simpson's comic book guy said to you. And aside from all that, as I said before, a good movie doesn't mean it will make a ton of money. Let's compare BVS to Batman begins. One made 3 times the money of the other, is it 3 times better?

On 3/23/2022 at 10:58 AM, kimik said:

As the Batman should. His Marvel equivalent is Spider-man from a property perspective, and the latest Spider-Man box office will be 2x+ what the Batman is going to do. That is where the comparison will be made at the corporate level.

It would only be a fair comparison if this film also had Keaton's Batman and Bale's Batman show up at the end to help Battinson beat 5 iconic Batman villains.

I paid $15 to see Batman.  And I got more Batman in this movie than any other Batman movie to date.

That's how I felt. And that's why I went and watched it 2 more times. Just so much Batman to enjoy.

FWIW, I posted here that Pattinson was a bad choice from the start and the movie's box office is confirming it.

The main takeaway from people is that he surprised them. I have seen so few posts stating he was bad. Instead I see a bunch of memes about how great he turned out, even a fill in the blank apology letter for R Bats, which made me chuckle.

BvS was being touted as a $1B blockbuster, and fell short. Justice League was even worse. Right now the DCU is in shambles, just like their comic publishing arm (outside of the Batman titles, there really is nothing left). They need someone to set a vision and see it through. The Snyder cut for JL is way better than what they churned out - they should have released that and let him finish the story line with Darkseid.

After having seen it, they really should have released it as Parts 1 and 2. Would have made quite a bit of money. And there would have been real hype for that second part.

As it stands, BvS, which was considered a huge failure at the box office, posted a final tally that WB would kill for The Batman to hit.

I thought BvS was only considered a huge failure as a film, not necessarily at the box office. They still went ahead with Justice League.
