  1. I really like your avatar pic, Joosh. I have two copies of that book. I do find it cool how you appreciate golden age and also dabble in moderns. I get a real headache with moderns and the fear of missing out becomes really overbearing for me. So I find refuge in Golden Age where a lot of the pricing and trends are more level and not as much a roller coaster ride and there is a rarity in owning a book at all rather than having it be a 9.8.
  2. By that logic, there is no such thing as a comic with the first appearance of Harley Quinn since her first appearance was on a TV show. That time she appearaed in a comic is just a later appearance of the character. Anyways, I see people here are confusing second printing with reprints. It's not at all the same thing. A second print is just an extension of the original print run of the comic. A reprint happens much later. That's why CGC does differentiate the two. That Action 1 reprint is not a "second print".
  3. The value is for insurance purposes. Here is the answer to your question: How much would you like to get if CGC loses or damages your book? If you feel this is a 9.8 and would like it insured for its full slabbed value, then select the tier that works with $800. If you are ok getting $200 if it is damaged or lost, then select the standard modern tier and put $200 value.
  4. The 7.0? Also, damage during signing in terms of creasing is very common. We get a bunch of complaints on these boards about it. It's not necessarily the moment it was signed but the extra handling of the comic, especially when the book is not in a window bag to begin with. In this case, there was a whole bunch of operations done between it being in a CGC holder and a CBCS holder. The case was cracked, the comic was cleaned, and then signed. We have no clue how it was handled between those times and the method under which it was signed (window box or not). Loads of opportunity for a crease to occur.
  5. Do you have the CGC grader notes? Also, I'm puzzled as to why someone would press a comic befire it is further handked for a signing. Shouldnt the book be pressed after?
  6. The answer is yes, of course it is. TMNT #1 third printing is still a book featuring the first appearance of the Tutles. Ultimate Fallout 4 second printing is still Miles Morales' first appearance. Is it worth as much as a first printing, well that's another question. But it is still a first appearance. And it's fun to note the second or third printings that change the cover to make it be the panel that introduces that first appearance character, since those are worth even more. Like Venom 3 third print and amazing spider man 569 2nd print.
  7. It just says the cover is nice, but it's not a superior book. If it was superior than other books in that grade, it would be of a superior grade.
  8. Then it's impossible to know if CGC would have also done 6.0 if sent to them instead. You win some you lose some, I wouldn't blame either company for doing their job as professional graders. Saying "CBCS came back 1 grade lower" is not a fair statement as you did not simply send a CGC comic to be regraded by CBCS. This is more along the lines of a comic doing down a grade after it was regraded after a signing, and more handling, which is very common. For all we know, the same result would have happened at CGC.
  9. Those corners are definitely issues as I have seen copies without those issues. I would guess a 9.2.
  10. Even then, only keys go up with the hype that may generate. And it's still not a guarantee. Owlsley was in the DD show and yet Daredevil issue 3 still sold (and sells) below guide. We had a justice league movie and yet their second appearance sells way below guide as well.
  11. If you want to move these at your prices of 7$ per book, make the lots more digestible. Like a run of 10 comics. You are more likely to get average fans who don't want to spend too much and also the odds of someone not having a repeat of what is already in their collection goes up. Also 3$ per book is a fair offer for large lots, I'd take it. Selling these to a dealer would get about 10 cents to 1$ a book by comparison. So yeah, basically 3$ per book or make much smaller lots.
  12. Thanks fir the detailed breakdown. Oddly enough, the book's most glaring issue is a non colour breaking crease on the bottom right of the front cover but it is really hard to see in the scan. Pressing will remove it.
  13. It might be a manufacturing defect or not. If not then it's the result of a plastic bag was stuck to the comic and when pulled off it created that defect. If it is manufacturing, then it's a hickey. You also have foxing though. This one is very tough to grade. If its an offset printing hickey then 7.0, but if that is not manufacturing defect then 4.0.
  14. I KNOW RIGHT?! It's one of the top 5 comic book movies of all time. Too bad it came out the same year as another top 5.
  15. 2000: X-Men 2001: Ghost World 2002: Spider-Man (but Blade II was pretty awesome too!) 2003: X2 2004: Do the Incredibles count? If not then Hellboy 2005: A History of Violence 2006: V for Vendetta 2007: 300 2008: The Dark Knight 2009: This year was not that great, I guess I'll go Watchmen. 2010: Scott Pilgrim although the Animated DC movies were on fire this year with Batman/Superman Apocalypse and Under the Red Hood. 2011: X-Men: First Class 2012: Dredd 2013: Didn't realize how lackluster that year was, I guess it goes to Man of Steel 2014: Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2015: Ant Man 2016: Captain America Civil War 2017: Wonder Woman 2018: TIE: Avengers: Infinity War and Spider-verse 2019: Shazam
  16. A really nice book. 8.5 from me. And just curious, but how old is "back in the day"?
  17. And only certain grades. Slabbing midgrade copper age books would be just as wastefull.
  18. I am very happy to help. I would say the best tool for grading would be the overstreet grading guide https://www.amazon.ca/Overstreet-Guide-Grading-Comics-2016/dp/1603601996/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=overstreet+grading+guide&qid=1597729696&sr=8-1 That's how I learnt and it's the guide that the biggest dealers adhere to (or claim to adhere to).
  19. I wouldn't count on a 9.8, due to that top right corner and that slight staining. I would go with 9.6. Although with this book, a 9.8 is not really worth slabbing either. It's 9.9 or bust (no joke). Oh and for the Spare a Grade forum, it's 3 new topics per day.
  20. I agree. I admit, I am not confortable calling a 9.8 in any scenario, but this copy looks really sharp and if you saw 9.8s with that same bindery issue then I won't argue
