  1. Just curious, why would you send a Batman 523? That purple becoming a blue is really baffling to me. I'm happy for you of course, but I don't get it.
  2. You are better off asking that here: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/23-ask-cgc/
  3. Well, as you can see from my screenshot, between the two 9.2s, I went for CGC Also, wow, I finally understand what Voldy means.
  4. I agree that the perforation feels just so darn cheap. The books I collect are rare enough that I'll take them slabbed from anyone if I can't find them raw. So I have experience with both slabs and CGC's definitely feels more quality. BUT the idea of CGC slabs giving you a premium no longer holds much water. I looked into it and I see just as many examples one way or another, it's not so cut and dry. It ends up basically the same since a 3rd party grader of good standing graded the book for you, hence the two 9.2s below: The one trend I do see is that when it comes to non high grade (so 9.0 and below) books that have a demand, a raw copy will sell for more than a slabbed book.
  5. Why would you send that book in for grading then? You could sell it for as good a price raw and not have to spend more on it.
  6. I think we all knew that. But I would have liked to give a better grade which was not easy to do with that image.
  7. It's a blue label, so congrats on that. As for the grade, not sure. The book looks pretty worn. I would say 6.0 but it could always come back a 5.0 or 5.5 as well.
  8. The book isnt swapped. It got a 9.8 because CGC reasoned that any defect found was a production defect and so the grade of 9.8 was given. 9.8 doesn't mean your book is flawless, it never meant that. It just means it shows no sign of wear and tear from being handled.
  9. FYI, we can't tell with an image like that. You have to remove from the back and scan it front and back. Only way to grade accurately.
  10. I don't know. With this being a second print, I see too many issues that would make it worthwhile to send in since it won't get a 9.8 no matter what.
  11. The real answer is Anything. A 9.8 must be absolutely perfect and have absolutely 0 flaw from when it was printed and binded to it brought to the comic book store. Any stress mark on the spine, any rounded or blunt corner, or any colour break and you don't get a 9.8. BUT the good thing is you don't have to worry about that. If you send loads of comics, and pay extra, CGC will look over each one and only grade those that will get a 9.8. They let you choose this service when you send over 25 comics or more. So if I were you this is what I would do.
  12. that lower right corner is gonna cost you. I'd say 8.0 at most
  13. 8.5 max, a press wont remove the biggest defects.
  14. that spine spilt is what really brings this down to the 2.0 range
  15. 4.0, I would be very surprised if it got higher. The missing piece at the bottom corner already makes this a 5.0 so if you add the lower staple detached you get 4.0.
  16. I didnt know about this. I was hoping to find out more by writing this post. And it worked, thanks to you and Bitteroldman.
  17. You can't. It's just that there are books I look for that no one else cares about much and I have them on my watchlist. Whenever they show up it happens to be from him, so I was hoping to reach out. Oh, so your saying these are all from his collection rather than him still purchasing other collections and books to resell? Man, I wonder what else he has in there. Also, how old do you think he is (just curious, from you guys talking this guy is turning all mythical to me)?
  18. I was gathering that from his selection. It's always stuff no one else has (and by that I include E-bay, Heritage, and the rest) and at really reasonable prices. Like he wants to share his awesome finds with others who love these books. Glad to know he's similar to the idea of him I made up in my head. I still don't know where he finds these cool books in this era but I am happy to buy them from him.
