  1. I like to keep it simple and just let "go fist yourself" cover all of bases. Your system is much to confusing. Yes, I was a recipient of an old guy system early on in 2006. It was beautiful in its simplicity. Much like Cain's son in Alien.
  2. A lot of that goes on there! I think I never googled it because I figured I'd be disappointed that whatever it meant wouldn't be as cool as just saying 'Terre Haute'. Though... Having lived in a flood plain for most of my life, I guess it is kinda cool. . Do you have a public library?
  3. If I buy a raw book at a show that is being sold as a 9.6 I get to inspect it and make an assumption of my own. If I make the purchase, most of the time the book comes back at the grade I thought or possibly higher. Sometimes it comes back lower. Regardless of what the final grade is (unless it was trimmed or restored in some fashion) the liability falls on me, unless the book is sold as a "guaranteed" 9.6 or 9.8. Was that the case here? Other things to factor in. Was the book dropped shipped to Matt without the owner seeing it? Could the book have received damage while being pressed? If it was submitted again, could it possibly get the 9.6? Bottom line for me...have the book in hand and before a sale is made and have a clear return policy in place.
  4. I assume you didn't have GPA based on what KPR and I have mentioned this book goes for? Did Bosco say this was GPA or his price? Maybe I should be on the look out for ultra high grade Predator books - are high grade copies hard to find? Predator #3 is indeed hard to get in 9.8. I cannot remember the census numbers. Which is why I agreed to such a high price for a 9.8 9.4's however....as anyone knows, you cannot get more than $40 for pretty much any modern at this grade. Unless it's a key. How many people are avid Predator collectors? Not many. Census shows 6 in 9.8. 1 in 9.6 and 2 in 9.4.
  5. Anyone have Modern Fast Track and Value Fast track books from 5/10 or sooner shipped back to them yet?
  6. Philly most likely is impacting those books. The shows were way too close.
  7. Wonder if reholders are getting pushed to the front of the list. That would explain the extra wait time.
  8. I don't think you are going to have too much competition. I was so excited for ROM until I saw the art on the interiors and some of these covers. Unfortunately, I'm passing on this one. I like the Buscema and Sayger covers.
  9. Should've held. My 9.8 only sold for $90 at auction a couple months back after trying to get substantially more on the Clink exchange. It was only one of 2 on the census I believe. Ouch! Should have left it on the exchange. I had a feeling it would be relevant with all the Warlock buzz. dumb*ss You can't win em all. I sold a raw Batman 251 on the boards several years back. I graded it at 9.0. The person who bought it slabbed it and it came back 9.6. Do you know what a 9.6 Batman 251 goes for these days? Also sold my Iron Man 55 before it went bonkers. Ah well, que sera sera When my wife decided we were getting a house, I sold a Batman 251 CGC 9.6 and an IM 55 CGC 9.4 to defray the moving costs well before those books really blew up, so I feel your pain I still have my Iron Man 55.
  10. Last sale 16,000 range I think $15,000.00
  11. At one point, he claimed that he was trying to be better. I guess we now know that was a load of excrement I saw that comment and thought that was over the line, especially if what was said is actually true. No need to ever kick a person when they are down. Was the thread scrubbed? I don't see any comments.
  12. What's the grade on that book, Joe? I can't quite make it out on the label.
  13. I am always amazed at how white, the white areas are on books from the great White North. The PQ and whites on the books I purchased in Calgary is exceptional.
  14. At one point I had the following copies IM 55 9.8 IM 55 9.6 IM 55 9.6 IM 55 9.4 IM 55 9.4 signed by Starlin IM 55 9.2 signed by Starlin IM 55 9.0 signed by Starlin IM 55 9.0 IM 55 8.5 IM 55 8.0 IM 55 7.5 signed by Starlin Only have the 9.8 left. Here is the 9.0 Universal. Forgot about an 8.0 I had.
  15. Ive noticed that book has trended up but not that much Incredibly hard to find in 9.6/9.8.
