  5. Overstreet isn't the be all and end all any more than CGC is. Overstreet publishes a big book every year. They have a huge board of "advisors". People pay money for advertising in it. I am just a fat old guy with a bunch of comics, and not even particularly good ones after I sold my smattering of SA keys and GA slabs (and most of my good OA) to pay for renovations to this darn house. Who am I to decide what is CA and what is not? I think going off a guide that has been a market standard for nearly 40 years is not a bad idea, even if you don't agree with the standard. That's why it's called a guide right? Age classification doesn't really matter anywhere except these boards anyway. CGC doesn't really care except for when it comes to pricing, that's why they did away with the "modern"/red tier label. Yes, it's called a guide. Some people refer to it as the bible but it's a guide. I've bought and enjoyed Overstreet guides for 30 years but I don't take everything they say as gospel any more than I accept CGC grades as gospel Well said. Might want to add GPA in there.
  6. Just got back a nice looking Hulk 181 in 9.0 but it has (B-1) color touch on the front cover. What would a fair price for this book be today?
  7. Not sure of the laws in Canada, but what would happen if the Welfare Board found out about Gabriel's comic habit? Not like they would have far to look if they needed to do some digging.
  8. I just had a ft modern take 19 calender days wondering if they didn't update properly cause others seem to be saying they are fast as well My express finish and as always pleased with how Joey bumped it! Must be, as I have MFT books submitted on 1/18 that are already graded and shipped out.
  9. I thought fast track was supposed to be half the time of the regular tier? i.e. Moderns at 60 days...FTM at 30 days. Modern 48 Business Days 20 Business Days Modern Fast Track 37 Business Days
  10. 3 Express books dropped off 9:30 AM 2/12/2016 Graded yesterday QC today. Day 6 of...
  11. That's where the problem lies if I don't trade I either have to sell for a loss or wait till it reaches a price where I can make a profit on it. Sell for a loss man. Get cash back and just be sure you're buying books you can profit on with the cash you got back. You can't move forward unless you accept the loss and move on. Everyone loses on something. Being stubborn in this situation is only hurting you further. Here's my advice: 1) Throw every book up for auction. Start and end it on a Sunday. 2) use that cash and go hit your local stores and buy books that your local shops have priced too low. Not every sale has to be a home run. Go in the local shop, find some books priced at $20-$50 Cdn and see if you can sell them for $20-50 in US dollars. Say for instance you find a DC comics presents 26 for $50 Cdn in your shop. Buying it for $50 in Canadian and selling it for $50 usd will make you - $50usd x 1.40 = $70cdn. You've made $20 on one book by taking advantage of the weak Cdn dollar. Do that a few times over. He does not have the skill set (at the moment anyway) to conduct business properly. In that case. he is better off not spending any money and using what he has for essentials, which unsuccessful comic flipping does not fall under. He is playing with the houses money, and right now the house does not have it to lose.
  12. Sound advice. You have to start somewhere (not comics) and based on your previous history and propensity to dive in head first makes you an easy mark. Take sure but steady steps and work for a place that will open opportunities for you while providing steady income. In the States we have Goodwill, not sure if Canada has a similar organization of if Goodwill is even in Canada. That is the direction I would suggest to you.
  13. There's a known manufacturing defect with that issue which I believe has been discussed somewhere on this board before which is causing the low 9.8 population. I have personally gone through hundreds of copies of this book even in dealer's overstock from the 90's where they have not been touched. Every single copy had that issue which kinda begs the question on how some copies manage to get the 9.8 grade. If you look at the 9.8 book that was sold, you can clearly see the spine defect. I sold the first 9.8 copies to come to market. I got more than $875 for each of the copies I sold but they were private sales, so $875 for that books was a solid price. I assure you it was not in any way solid Congrats to you though I am sure the seller would disagree.

  15. Was it this guy? donrosacollection (708) Yep, that's him. I believe his name is Steve Wyatt. I love this place. That's the info I was looking for. I think a thread was started about it as well.
  16. I remember when the Don Rosa books started selling on EBay, everyone thought it was a hoax until the seller started receiving positive feedback. Cannot remember who the seller was, but those auction went from dead to 1,000 miles an hour in no time flat.
  17. At the end of The Outsiders, Matt Dillon is in a convenience store. During the scene he rips up a magazine. If you look at the magazine stand there are many comics that can be identified, one being a Batman comic.
  18. They do. i.e. Right Bottom Front Cover Small Crease Breaks Color Spine Foxing
