  1. I concur (thumbs u Yep - willing to bet the corner posts are cracked too. They do look funky in the enlarged scans.
  2. Thanks I am a honest person and I'm trying to change my financial situation. So does that mean you want this journal to be about me getting the comics and seeing what they graded? so will you guys be able to know if I'm getting closer to my goal by what I post here? Instead of using monetary values why not get creative and use pie charts or graphs to track your progress by percentages. You can share the results without dollar values involved.
  3. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Bronze-Age-197083-/12590/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=ms+marvel+1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc Yep. She's cooling off a bit. The market appears saturated. I have had strong sales on my copies. I even have a 9.4 sitting at around $500 in auction that ends in 15 days.
  4. Awesome books, especially the rarely seen last four. Thanks. Yes, this submission was half rarities, half flavor-of-the-month. 2 of them are single-graded examples The Hickory #3 is sick. A book I rarely see.
  5. I usually have a cup right before I go to bed.
  6. As I was saying, the potential is there for a large increase. Right now I'm sure a lot of board members are waiting to see how things play out with rules etc. Ebay has changed it's rules recently leading to a potential influx. Auctions have only started recently, as word gets out to ebayers there will be more. Joey, As of now auctions ARE being allowed, so what is the actual harm in creating a sub-forum for them. At least it keeps the drama out the regular selling threads. In other words creating a new sub-forum will not create/release more drama, it will just move any drama assoc with auctions to a different place. If they don't work Arch can just shut it down. I usually ignore them. Still, it would be like opening the door to more drama.
  7. Most of the drama on the boards is over bad transactions. Adding another forum where drama on an exponential scale can be released is not a good idea IMHO.
  8. Sadly true. The dynamic of this place has changed dramatically over the last few years. Understatement.
  9. I make the flat rate boxes longer to accommodate additional bubble wrap.

  11. I have come to the conclusion that if I own it or have multiples copies of it...it will never be a hot book.
  12. Junk. Best $50 that I've ever spent. Wonder if it will beat the $1200 I got for the 9.6 Oakland some years back? Only 9.8 out there
  13. Junk. Best $50 that I've ever spent. Not to rub salt in the wound...but it is now the ONLY 9.8 in the census. Just saying...
  14. When you drop your books off at a show, they still have to be mailed back to CGC HQ before they can begin the grading process - if you dropped them at NYCC over the weekend, they probably arrived in Florida yesterday. And considering that more than 100 boxes of books were shipped back, it doesn't seem too unreasonable that it'll take a couple of days to process them  I guess my mistake was to assume that CGC had a system that allows them to identify and prioritize express submissions over the standard and other tiers when they arrive at CGC (the rep I spoke to said they are just opening them up now). I also assumed they had a way to transport these submissions back to CGC quickly, as opposed to using the same method a submitter uses, i.e., mailing it. When CGC offer$ a premium $ervice they should make every effort to deliver on it. Lesson learned. on the other hand...you got an expensive book and you're about to pay a lot of $$$ to get it graded, maybe ask some more questions before making assumptions and handing over premium $$$. I'm just playing devil's advocate, I pretty much agree with you, I think they'd have a better, faster system in place. I've handed submissions to CGC at NYCC just about every year I've gone the last few, and they usually show up on the tracking within a few days - like Tuesday after the weekend of the con. This was exceptionally long wait, and that's why I called them today. As far as asking questions, and not making assumptions, I would bet money they would not have told me at the con that an express submission would take a week to get to CGC and when it did not get any special attention. That's not true. If you had asked, they would have told you the exact same thing I said above - unless it's a high-value walkthrough, books CGC receive at shows are always shipped back. I wasn't debating that they wouldn't tell me how, I was saying they likely wouldn't tell me they were going to be missing in limbo for 7 days. It never happened before, why should it happen now? Anyway, justified or not, I'm disappointed. You wrote that you've handed subs off to CGC at NYCC before - last year books from NYCC started showing up in the system the Wednesday after the show. This year they're starting to show up today (the Thursday after the show). Apart from the 1 day difference, what's really changed? Monday was a holiday
  15. I never ever hand over books at a show. At least when I send out a box of books I have control over the packing and when they get there.
  16. I would love to upgrade my copy, but the .5 grade jump does not warrant spending the additional 3-4K. I would do this in a heartbeat today.
