  1. Then it doesn't really matter where they are located, unless you want to physically inspect the books before sending to CGC.
  2. I can tell you not to use a magic eraser. That's like taking light sandpaper to your book. Mars plastic erasers work well on dirt and some inks.
  3. When I first saw it, my gut reaction was dirty release paper. But Mylar could, and often does, mess with the gloss. Either way, I am sure it was a comedy of errors that resulted in the damage to the book.
  4. You would be surprised what a bad press could do. Where was the warehouse? Big difference in a warehouse in Florida versus Montana.
  5. Sorry, just scanned the text lightly. I know if two issues that would create this effect on a book. Improper press or improper storage where humidity got into the bag.
  6. Some ink transfer can be removed by carefully dry cleaning the area. That said, all ink transfer is not created equally. Your mileage may vary.
  7. Soiling (with some associated moisture). Dirt Oils
  8. Never have, never will. Same sending books media mail as it is against USPS policy.
  9. I had a Spider-Man 122 that structurally was a 9.4 but all the edges had thick DS covering them. Came back an 8.0.
  10. I hate people like this. Make sure you do everything by the book and you should be OK. Document everything, even if it seems insignificant. A few years back, I had someone send in 3 books for pressing. Not a large order, but with shipping and everything it amounted to $65.00 I sent them a PayPal invoice and they paid. After that they literally asked me every hour when the box was going to be mailed. My wife was running some errands and I gave her the box to bring to the PO. I emailed the customer and said they were in the system and on their way. The next morning I saw a charge back from PayPal and saw it was from them. Emailed to see what was going on and never got a reply. Figured I was scammed and was going to be out $65.00 Two days later I go to the car and I see the box in the trunk. My wife never mailed it! I waited to see what was going to happen. Needless to say after 5 days they finally email me back asking where the box was. When I explained what happened I said the only way I would mail it out to them was if they sent me cash in the mail. They told me they were not going to do that. Stalemate time. Fast forward to today. I never got paid and I still have the three books.
  11. Congratulations to everyone, especially Andrew who got some nice grades.
  12. Whatever doesn't break color can be fixed, as far as bends and creases are concerned. Even the smudge can be reduced, or eliminated, if you send it to the right presser.
