  1. Nope. anything color-breaking is not fixed by pressing.
  2. 4.5/5.0 just of the volume of creasing. Back needs cleaned
  3. 9.0/9.2 I think they can be tough on this book b/c they see so many. Definitely a roll of the dice, but certainly not a bad gamble for a book like this.
  4. not a 9.8. The corner takes that out of the equation. Max 9.4
  5. I don't have a ton of experience with this, but it looks like a classic case of "recessed staple" defined in CGC's book. A manufacturing-related issue characterized by staples centered on the spine, but below the bend. According to the same book, recessed staples range from 8.5-9.6. These seem pretty deeps, so start at the lower end. The way a recessed staple goes lower is if there is torn paper caused by the recess, then it can go down to 7.0. I don't see much tearing, but it's hard to see fine details. I'm a little concerned about this discoloration along the inner bottom edge of the front cover. They love to jump on a discoloration issue & ding a book below what you expect. I would say worst case scenario 6.5/7.0. Best case 7.5/8.0. Sometimes these big keys seems like they get the benefit of the doubt, so I would be more optimistic than pessimistic. Still waiting (a long time) for my copy to come home.
  6. By letter of CGC law, binder holes range from 3.0-5.0. These holes are not clean, so at minimum my starting point would be the lowest end of the range. I know this is controversial, but I believe CGC would come in higher than the predicted grades above. The 2.0/2.5 guess for without binding holes made by @marvelmaniac is a good assessment of the heavy creasing & the CGC guidelines would say binder holes don't impact the grade significantly if the book already grades below 3.0. Of course, CGC isn't the only set of grading standards & other guidelines would come in lower. I wouldn't grade this book either except to test of how closely CGC adheres to their published standards. My copy of this book doesn't have holes, but is quite dark from tanning. At least from about 1.5" from the spine & right, this book looks much nicer!
  7. 3.0/3.5, maybe pressed to 4.0 by someone who takes a lot of time with it. Not sure the time to fix enhances the value sufficiently, but seems possible.
  8. I am considering getting this signed by Walt SImonson when he's at a local convention & dropping off at the CGC booth. There are currently no copies on the census & it does not come up if one tries to enter the title into the order form. It definitely meets the size requirements for magazines. It's not from a major publisher but is a professionally produced book. Images are front cover, back cover, copyright/publisher information, and the credits on the Simonson story. I just want to make sure this wouldn't be rejected for some reason.
  9. I think CGC ignored a couple of words filled in on mine (pencil?), but I didn't photograph the inside to remind myself before sending. With a small stain, I don't think the crossword would have mattered anyway, but worth noting.
  10. 0.5. Total garbage. Send it to me & I'll give it a proper burial. This probably hits >9
  11. Crossword blank? Stain probably takes it down to 7ish. IDK if they will give this a little more leeway than a regular comic for staining, but it doesn't look like it went through the mail so less basis to forgive it.
  12. It's why I thought this one was worth posting at this late date. As it turns out, I posted several candidates for this signing here & ultimately didn't send any of those.(ASM265, Marvel Age 97, maybe a few others). I did send a Marvel Tails 1, but didn't post it then or now, b/c it is unremarkable (i.e. no noticeable defects)
  13. maxes out around 4.0 b/c of the tears & discoloration along the spine. Definitely could use some work to maximize the appearance & get rid of the spine roll, provided the binding isn't so delicate that pressing, etc. causes more damage.
  14. I've got this at 8.0 as long as the edge is deemed to be the typical issues with Marvel books & dull blades used to cut the paper. The apparent tanning is what I think is the more impactful defect.
  15. Sent this off to the DeFalco signing, but never got around to posting a PGM. Expecting this back in 1-2 weeks, so thought I'd fix my oversight, especially since this is a book a lot of people post.
