  1. I didn't notice staining, and not sure where it is but that definitely doomed a higher grade. They hate staining of any kind
  2. I can show you an 8.5 with no notes. Post photos when you can
  3. 9.2/9.4 The general rule of thumb is that manufacturing/distribution defects that impact the appearance will only prevent a book from achieving the highest possible grades. Might be a tad of stacking roll or something here that would warrant a quick press
  4. hard to see the indentions, sometimes those can be pressed out if they're not too heavy. Still a lot of normal wear and tear. Around 5.0
  5. 7.5 maybe a grade higher w/c/p. General edge wear and some grime or something in the UPC box
  6. CGC advertised his signing mentioning this one as his first. Not sure why they don't label it. Checks out with some other databases. I have 2 more raw copies since I had to buy a few to get a gradable one. Lucky for me, it's still not much more than a cover price investment. Lots of low grade & overgraded books on the market though
  7. 5.5/6.0, I think the lower option. 7.5/7.0 is max for a single staple detachment if otherwise perfect. The 1 crease already is dropping below this.
  8. 4.5/5.0 cumulative area of missing cover pieces and what looks like a stain or substance on the back cover. Better photos would allow for more accurate assessment
  9. Around 5.0, staining will get hammered unfortunately.
  10. I definitely don't see the creasing listed in the Grader Notes. As I've mentioned recently elsewhere, any grade can have a bad day and unfortunately there can really be a process to dispute/appeal b/c people would abuse it relentlessly. The list of people that disagree with CGC graders is long. That said, I do think there's some wiggle room in the case of a clerical error, which could have been the case here. I'd reach out to customer service, especially since creasing on this metallic, cardstock cover should be pretty obvious.
  11. Maybe not the most descriptive title ever given to a comic, but this is Al Milgrom's one-off fanzine "Title". Heard about it, found a copy, bought it, and then heard an interview that Al still sometimes has a few leftover copies for sale at conventions. Would have tried to go straight to the creator if I'd known that. There is some kind of imperfection along the top edge of the front cover. I have no idea what it is. It could easily be the quality of the heavy paper/card used for the cover, it could be some minor damage. No clue. Other than that, pretty nice & white for a 50 year old zine. I threw in a couple pages from the Starlin/Milgrom contribution for the record. It's kind of a Conan/Kull knock-off character. Still neat. Edit: the imperfections in the white area at the top don't really show in the photos, so that should give you an idea how severe these imperfections are.
  12. 8.0/8.5 maybe up to 9.2 if the back corner crunch can be pressed.& soiling removed. TRFC caps the upside
  13. You can use the edit to fix at any time, or change the title to "Grade is in" if submitted to CGC. Looks like there might be a bit of spine roll and 1 corner that's not perfectly square. I'll say 9.0/9.2 with 9.4 potential if someone can properly press the roll out a least a little
  14. Depends on your goals. It's always "worth it" if the graded books give you personal satisfaction as a collector. We all like books, series, etc. that may not be as widely appreciated by other collectors (PPSSM 38 is one of mine). If you're talking about PPSSM issues that you could collect & readily unload if you decided to liquidate the collection, then I'd expect issues 1, 9, 27, 28, 64, 90, 98, 99, 101, 189 & maybe a handful of others fall into that category. Gocollect.com has a (sometimes) useful tool where if you search a series there's a toggle button that will show key issues only. Definitely imperfect both in missing some issues and showing some that aren't that collectable, but a decent place to start. Again, if you're not talking about high value books, grading comes down to a personal preference.
  15. 8.0/8.5 A little tearing at the TRFC and a small crease at the BRFC. Not bad for a quarter.
  16. Yeah, IDK. I can't remember which way it came out of the bag b/c I wasn't paying much attention and then realized the thing was creased *and* it was folded over in the bag. Even if the crease was pre-existing, who loads a comic in a bag with the world's largest dog ear? I've checked the photos a couple of times, and I'm 99% sure it wasn't creased when photographed/sold. My worst shipping story was the pretty sharp looking copy of Mighty World of Marvel 198 I found that the mail services claimed was destroyed somewhere before it made it across the Atlantic. I got my $ back, not sure what the seller got as compensation, but another item where disappearance from existence is quite unfortunate. All you need to get a copy of Hulk 181 is enough $$$ to burn. The MWM198 isn't nearly as expensive, but you have to be patient enough to find a decent looking copy first. My X-Men 96 came back a 7.0 with a crease on the back cover no more than 25% the length of this one. It had a light printers crease too, but I don't think that was a major factor in the grade. I have a newsstand of this Spider-Woman signed by Frank Miller that came back an 8.0 due to a small back cover stain. I was thinking this MJ copy could be a future replacement grading a little better, and being unique to boot. Alas, that isn't going to happen with this book any longer.
  17. Well, I am sharing some disappointment in this PGM. This particular cover of SW is a favorite of mine, so when I saw a nice looking copy for <$20 with a MJ insert, I jumped. When it arrived, the back cover was folded back on itself in the bag. It wasn't like that in the listing photo & the seller thinks his employee messed up getting it shipped. I got most of my money back, but it's sad to irreparably damage a variant that's hard to come by in higher grade. It's not a bend either, it's a hard crease where it would take more than a miracle for pressing to fix it. I think the photos show it well, but it runs from the TRBC all the way through the LEGO car to the edge near "We". I noticed on reexamination, there is also an apparent printers crease below the text box. 😭
  18. The way the images are tightly cropped makes it harder to be confident in the grade b/c the edges/corners are no completely clear. 5.5ish, could slide lower or higher depending on how clean the edges are. In this case, I don't think the writing will be a significant factor in the grade. The color breaking defects on the front set the ceiling & back covers aren't scored as harshly.
  19. I was ready to give a 7.5/8.0 & optimistic on the outcome, but I noticed one the 2nd time through there seems to be a stain right on Spidey's head in the water. Noticed it first on the reverse side in the Grow Live Monsters ad. I fear a stain, especially where it is, knocking this down to at least a 6.0, possibly a 5.5
