  1. Gripper holes "don't" affect the grade, but the larger they are, the more likely they will lower the grade. 8.0-9.8 is CGC's book range. These don't look especially big and not the main issue with this book. 8.5/9.0 if the indentions press out b/c there's still some color break that won't go away.
  2. Front 5.5/6.0, back—not so much. There's a 5.0 on ebay that looks better IMO. I've got this at 4.0/4.5, leaning lower
  3. 4.5/5.0, thinking lower b/c that corner is so roughed up.
  4. Really hard to be confident in grading with screenshots, especially at the angle taken.
  5. That's the hope! I managed to get a nice sketch on top of a ink lift from a thumb once. Almost guarantee that was good for 1-2 grades higher..
  6. Same question about the spot showing up in the glare on the m of AMAZING
  7. Around 7.0/7.5 b/c of the color breaking stuff around the spin and close to the top edge.
  8. Decided to do a drop-off for grading before the new price structure kicks in. I actually only left this in the box b/c I thought the presser would find it amusing. To my surprise, it was snagged almost immediately. We'll know soon if Carl is famous enough for a Green label.
  9. Sent off to David Michelinie with a strategically placed signature window.
  10. Bailed on the CC signing on this one, but it was immediately snagged out of the box by my presser Friday. He got my comparable XM129 to 9.6, so we'll see.
  11. Is this the one that is/was listed on ebay? I found one trying to see examples of what this book looked like in the wild for possible manufacturing defects, etc. IMO, that one looks way nicer. Of course, different days, different graders, all grades are subject to some wiggle room.
  12. no doubt. There was a sale too for a much nicer looking one over $1000. IDK if ebay sellers are just hoping someone delusional will pay way over market price or what. I've been collecting some fanzines that often don't have high market prices necessarily, but the supply is quite limited, especially ones without heavy damage. FWIW my semi-educated WAG is that you might get $300-500 out of this graded from the right collector. Not quite the market for key comics, but I'm sure someone would give it a good home if it's not something you're planning to keep.
  13. This looks like some moisture damage. To the right where the discoloration isn't as blotchy, it looks like it could just be paper oxidation. CGC is especially hard on anything that is classified as a stain, and there's not really a good option to remove it and increase the grade. But, you know what you're getting into. I've had a couple books with small stains that if I'd seen them ahead of time, and/or known how CGC would consider them, I might not have graded those books. In this case, it's not like you can go find a dozen copies of this for sale, so who cares? There's a first edition that looks like dogcrap on ebay listed for $700 raw. Find a reputable cleaner/presser, get what can be done to make it as presentable as possible, and send it to CGC. It will be a cool thing to have in a PC, or you'd probably clear the investment in clean/press/grading by a wide margin selling a slabbed copy.
  14. Staple placement is all over the place in silver/bronze books. I suspect it was not stapled on the spine and then got crunched. This is a pretty worn copy with some aging discoloration of the paper. 3.5 now. Maybe a grade higher with a lot of TLC. Not sure if it would be worth the investment at least before we know how large Warlock's role will be in the ongoing MCU
  15. Quite a few micro dents along the spine. Corners look slightly off square. 9.0/9.2. Maybe presses a grade higher.
