  1. The color breaking crease around the CCA stamp is the critical defect. At that length, the maximum for an otherwise perfect book would be 8.0, so 7.0/7.5 is where you are with the additional light wear, especially around the outer right edge.
  2. curious about this too. It looks a little like a tape pull/paper lift, which would be a steeper penalty than color rub or other ink loss. Around 7 pending more detail
  3. This is not something I would send to CGC b/c it lacks any kind of real significance. I am interested to see how well people's grading agrees/disagrees with the seller. I got a long run of Thors in the early 2000s & all the bags have/had a little grade sticker. Personally, I think the seller undergraded many of the books by current standards (a rarity). All that said, this is a pretty good cover for a book with few memorable aspects.
  4. you can find cgc graded MS13s on ebay that have little white spots like this. The grader notes for the one I checked did not mention the spots. I'd say this copy has more than the other ones I saw that were typically 9.0/9.2. WAG 8.5±0.5
  5. Really great looking—except the color-breaking crease around the Hulk's right leg. 7.0/7.5
  6. Color rub below Detective, small possibly pressable bend on the back corner. As was pointed out, the discoloration, whether it is foxing or something else, is going to drops this more than you might expect. 6.5/7.0
  7. 4.0/4.5. No defect particularly stands out, but name written on the cover, plenty of spine stress lines, looks like the bottom staple might be rusty, etc. Still looks pretty nice overall.
  8. A pressing would improve the presentation. I do see that some of those bends have color-breaking creases and there are other creases. That tear is also significant. Letter of the law, this might be a 3.0/3.5, but I think it will present better than that grade pressed, so 4.0 with an outside shot at a charity 4.5
  9. pics are a little fuzzy. I stared at some of the questionable spots for a while. I think there's a little tear or something in the BRFC? The other corner is dinged a little, and the TL edge appears to have some fading or other discoloration in the green. I think you're highlighting a little water stain on an inside page? I wouldn't be too concerned about a single inner page with a water spot With the huge caveat that my GA grades are always off, 7.5±0.5. It's a nice looking book and would likely get a little bump since it's 70 years old. (and someone started to write their name on that ad)
  10. The pen looks like a distributor's mark & is considered allowable, especially at this grade. The tear is just one of several small to medium defects that accumulate to an overall score. The color breaking creases on the front, the rough looking top edge, and the grime on the back are the larger issues b/c of the impact on the overall aesthetics. I'd call this a 4.5/5.0. C/P is recommended.
  11. At least it's A-1. I have a C-1 (which I knew about) that essentially means someone did an amateurish job. Should be hard to see an A-1, I could see the bleed through on mine, so quite obvious.
  12. Did you know about the color touch, or was that a surprise?
  13. 6.0±0.5 creasing, especially mid-spine, keeps it out of the VF range. Colors and other parts are quite nice for this kind of book
  14. This crease, which is color breaking, is longer than 10", the CGC grading book says an accumulation of creases to 7" is 6.0 max. I'm thinking more like 5.0/5.5 b/c it's otherwise in pretty nice condition (b/c it's a GA and gets a slight bump)
  15. 4.5/5.0. Given the back cover, I'm curious about the tanning on the inside.
  16. I think that's a stain too. Pressing will fix a lot in my amateur opinion, but the combo of the color breaking stuff around the spine & staples sets the maximum around 6.5/6.0, but the stain knocks it down a point from what I've seen, so 5.0/5.5
  17. There's something above the bubble "The Shock of the year" in the orange of the building that's not in the original art. Not sure what it is. ≥9.2, unless that's a stain/foreign substance.
