  1. You can click that link to see there are none. I don't remember getting any notes for anything 9.4 or greater. I've got a long list of 9.0s & 9.2s that also don't have notes.
  2. So, the "Disappoint Grade is In Thor 165", originally was purchased to replace this one. It was the lowest grade Thor book in the full run I've posted several PGM selections from. Curious where this stands vs the 4.5R. I can more or less guarantee this one hasn't been messed with. Unfortunately, I got that other copy 8-10 years ago and have long since lost track of who sold it, whether they did the restoration or just passed along a restored book.
  3. I am very pleased. My experience in these in-house signings is that a lot of the guests, especially writers, stick to black for light covers, and white/silver for dark covers. The best looking ones are where they do something like this. I taped a note on the bag asking for orange or white, fully expecting white, but this is much nicer. My only regret is that George Pérez is no longer with us. Such a great example of his cover art.
  4. @LowGradeBronze @marvelmaniac I pulled this back out and I remain stumped. I forget which on of the books I got back from CGC lately it was, but there was an apparent stain that CGC noted was foxing. The only thing I'm pretty sure about is that this isn't a coffee spill or similar. The darker spots at the top left look like they could be some kind of rust transfer. The one feature of the stuff along the left is the straight line like it was leaning against something I think it's possible it's some kind of foxing patterned by storage. I agree stains are killers, although what causes the stains can matter. Oil transfer stains & rust from staples, not so bad. Spilling something on the book, really bad. Foxing, somewhere in the middle. I'll have to wait for my clean copy to come back, and then I'll decide what to do with this one. Obviously, I don't need multiple copies.
  5. that a printers crease on the back cover, or something else? Looks at least 9.2/9.4 unless that's something more significant on the back
  6. I'll try to take advantage of the increased traffic on this forum to post another spine roll book. Since I took these photos quite some time ago, I bought a better copy b/c of my experience with discoloration defects. I'm not exactly sure what that stuff is on the back, but it's not so nice looking. Minus that and the spine roll, it's not in bad shape. I will need to find something to do with this magazine at some point.
  7. 6.5/7.0. With C&P I can see the 7.0 b/c of recent trends being less concerned about spine ticks. Something in the 6s seems most probable.
  8. CGC's range for a subscription crease is 4.5-7.0. I could see this at a 6.0 since it's light and only seems bad through about 1/2 the book. Not really a book worth grading with a sub crease IMO
  9. All the comics I've posted in this forum (also most in my albums minus the signature books) were pressed by the same guy. We've mostly gotten good results, and the ones that weren't had some kind of undiagnosed problem. I've never given him one with a spine roll like this, so we'll talk about it first. I know he's done some high value books, but I don't have anything like an Amazing Fantasy 15 or X-Men 1 to have a track record on something like that.
  10. Pretty excited that this came back this high. It was definitely a roll of the dice with those printer lines? on the left side. Signature did a good job of partially covering them up, no notes to report. Also, I am liking the service CGC has now of uploading the images on the certification page. Image is a screen grab (sorry it's lowres, so making it large just creates pixelation), so I don't have to wait a week to share the results. I noticed they missed designating this as a newsstand on the label, albeit not a big deal if you can tell the difference between a UPC symbol and Spider-Man's head. Some people nailed this one, a few of you will have to add +3 in your ongoing grading contest score https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/4250337001/
  11. Took a bit of a flyer on this book since I've been conducting a search for a really long time & only found lower grade copies that were often lacking in any sort of eye appeal. This copy has some obvious problems, but outside the dog-eared corner, the cover art is clean. The big obvious defect is the spine roll. I'm hoping my presser can square this up a bit; however, it might be a painstaking process to do so without detaching the cover as there are little tears around the staples. A short spine split at the bottom too. The paper seems to be in good shape, no issues with foxing or tanning that I can detect (this means they're definitely there). Centerfold is nicely attached. Overall, I think a good template for a Miller signature when the opportunity arises even if the numerical grade might not blow anyone out of the water. Only 134 on the census (62 SS) and just 28 at 9.0 or above. Pretty pleased to wait long enough for this to show up.

  13. also on the 9.2/9.4 train. Maybe the corners aren't totally sharp. Could get to a 9.6 but this is always a roll of the dice. With the trends in CGC signature pricing, I'd be tempted to lurk on auction sites to see if something pops up in your price range. The in-house signings for FM are $140 now (up from earlier opportunities) plus any shipping/pressing. This one on ebay doesn't have any bids yet, but could be selling for not much more than the signing fee & shipping. I like the pink ink. If there's a cheaper way to get a FM signature or a higher value book, it might be a different story, Anyway, this is something I've started thinking a lot more about as their prices have gone up over the last year or so. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225675233314
  14. 5.0/5.5. I think the staple tears might hold this one back a grade, especially since it's a high census book
  15. it didn't help mine that TM signed it, and he wasn't all that gentle with the books. Probably needs re-pressed.
  16. Kiss of death may be extreme for a book like this. Extremely well-pressed with a CGC grader who's sympathetic maybe a 4.0, but they're really hard on this type of thing. 3s is more likely
  17. >9.2 These old Fear and Man-Thing comics are trippy. There were definitely mind-altering substances circulating in the bullpen during the 70s
  18. >9.2 Maybe. Really hard to tell the difference between 9.4-9.8 just by photos. You can even miss something with the book in hand. Without searching hard for better deals, I found you can buy a 9.8 for <$70. About 1/3 the cost of grading, so a dice roll on submission whether it's a good investment.
