  1. There’s not many ghost writers or artists that are still around from that era that live to see the recognition for the work they did finally get recognized. It’s wonderful that she lived long enough to see it happen, may she rest in peace.
  2. That’s why I love both books! Owning them is a special feeling knowing that GL #76 and #87 came out 50 years ago and it really shows how Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams were way ahead of their time.
  3. Personally I would go with Green Lantern #76 just because of its significance during the Bronze Age of Comics. It’s when comics really got woke and tackled an issue with society (which is still relevant to this day) and that’s racism. The book really made an impact on the comic industry during the 1970’s without a doubt!
  4. I’m looking for the cover that was done by Jackson Guice that features Amy Grant. It has an interesting story behind it where she sued Marvel for using her image with the association of the occult and thought it would affect her image in the Christian music community. She lost the case but it was too late as there was already a handful of books that featured her likeness already released so Marvel couldn’t completely recall them. If you have the original art for the cover and is willing to part with it, please reach out to me in hopes of working something out.

  7. I’m not too sure, I asked the dealer I bought it from if it had any restoration and he said that it had none as he personally owned the book for around 20 years.
  8. Thank you all for your input so far, I probably graded it a bit too high without taking the tanning into account as I’m not too sure how CGC grades when it comes to things like that, especially on older books.
  9. Picked this up at a show today in Charlotte, bought for what I thought was a good price since it’s a nice solid copy, thought I might see what you guys think on the grade. I personally see it as a 9.4 with little to no defects.
  10. Having it signed on the inside and out, especially with Herb Trimpe saying this IS the 1st appearance of Wolverine really makes this book special.
  11. It’s also gets further and further out of reach.
  12. This week I picked up an Atomic Comics #1 and all I can say is that this book is gorgeous! It’s an homage cover to Detective Comics #8 and it’s a very solid copy without a doubt. The book is complete and it has no restoration at all whatsoever, looking forward to submitting this to CGC!
  13. That’s the unfortunate part to the wonderful homage cover Neal Adams brought us.
  14. Yeah I think it’s dumb, but at the end of the day people can do whatever they want, it’s their money. I’ve seen high grade copies before it’s not like they’re rare or anything, just a little high in price but they’re out there. I do think it’s a bit crazy that there’s huge price difference between a 9.0 and 9.8 copy.
  15. Considering how the market currently is right now, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone actually bought this restored copy for $3.5M but it’s still a cool book nonetheless, restored or not.
  16. I don’t blame this person, it would be cool to see this sell for the asking price and break another record!
  17. I personally don’t see a reason in paying $35,000 for a Batman #227 when you can buy an actual Detective Comics #31 that’s restored for probably the same price or slightly more.
  18. They might think I’m crazy person, but who knows.. one may just have one stored in their basement.
  19. I’m in the middle of the madness and I’m just thinking to myself how am I now going to get an X-Men #1 now that the prices have shot up.
  20. It was HeroesCon 2019, first legitimate convention I attended (outside of local cons) and 17-year-old me didn’t really have much money. Neal Adams was there and I really wanted to meet him and have him sign some of my Green Lantern books. I only had $140 on me and had no idea that artists or writers charged for signatures. I get to the convention and the first thing I do is get a CBCS witness and then proceed to ask where Neal Adams was. After I get the CBCS witness and get over to Neal, I asked if he could sign my books for me but he then proceeds to say “you’re a smart young man, read that sign for me” and the sign says “signatures for $50” and “$30 for photographs” and I just stood there and thought to myself that I didn’t have much cash on me. I chose to have my Green Lantern #85 signed for $50 but then decided I wanted a picture with Neal so I also spent $30, that’s $80 gone. After all that was done, I get back to the CBCS booth and get all the paperwork filled out (first time submitting a book to grading) and had no idea that the grading would add up to $60, so now that’s $140, basically all my money. I thought to myself it was well worth it even though I became broke shortly after. I got the opportunity to meet one of my favorite artists and have him sign one of my books.
