  1. Same here. I need to feel the book and try to assess with feel if any glue, solvent cleaning to cover. Need bare fingertips to activate those sensory nerves Many seasoned collectors are quite comfortable handling vintage books having been around in the “raw in Mylar” days prior to third party grading. I suspect many collectors that prefer to use gloves when handling comics are newer collectors that may be nervous or new to handling books and are used to slabs.
  2. If that doesn’t work, I’m sure a nudge by Mark Haspel will push the change.
  3. But you know all the books to check now which is the first step in your project. all of those marvels are cheap except the spidey 14. I’m sure a lot of board members can chime in if they own raw copies of the other books marvel maniac hasn’t shown.
  4. Here are all the Marvels you can cross reference for publishing date July, 1964 (April 1964 release time). http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/newsstand.php?publisher=marvel&type=calendar&month=4&year=1964&sort=alpha
  5. I see your perspective. I do believe it is Lois Lane on the front cover of the 27 and the 29. I do not think she is on the cover of the 23.
  6. He does not. Often times these covers don’t match the interior stories.
  7. Same reason that cgc hasn’t place “1st app first round shield” on Cap 2 cgc labels
  8. Yes, could get a BC off a Tec 27, A12, Ad38, or MF43 http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/newsstand.php?type=calendar&month=4&year=1939&publisher=dc&sort=alpha&checklist=null
  9. Unlike Timely, DC used the same cover ads and matching dept store numbers/codes within the same month. So a Tec 27 and Action 12 would have matching inside/outside BCs. There would be no way to tell which book it came off of if you had a random BC from publishing date May, 1939. The All American and Movie comics would not have matching BCs with the DCs. Gaines (All American Comics) obviously had a partnership with DC but that did not seem to extend to publishing the same ads each month. http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/newsstand.php?type=calendar&month=4&year=1939&publisher=dc&sort=alpha&checklist=null
  10. copyright 1989 Gerber. Of course, access to photograph rare gold gave Gerber his fair share of challenges. With today's internet and CGC census data, some Gerber scarcity ratings are still well supported (while others obviously don't appear very accurate).
  11. Sounds like a good price at the time considering a 3.0 sold for $30k in 2012.
  12. I picked this up in a trade over the weekend. Moldoff drew Hawkman’s wings with excellence.
