  1. No, the book was MIA and don’t think Rick couldn’t recall who he bought the book from the second time around.
  2. Weird, but yes it was found (sort of). Inside job from Rick’s local PO back in Lynn Haven, FL left the book MIA but tracking said it was signed for. Few years later it was reslabbed into a 4.5 blue. I noticed it was the same copy as it had some noticeable defects. I had kept the old 5.0 scan, and Rick actually re-purchased the book as a 4.5 slab and didn’t even know it was the same stolen book we had been looking for.
  3. Got this in the mail yesterday as a late Christmas gift (thanks to a long time fellow collector) It’s the last cover Schomburg did in the Subby run. I researched the name “Diana” on the boat, and it turns out that was the name of Schomburg’s daughter. I figured the name must have had some significance, and wasn’t random.
  4. glad to make you smile this holiday season. I fondly remember using masking tape to repair that issue too because I couldn’t find any scotch tape laying around.
  5. Most of the books on the rack were first released in March,1944. I’ve seen one copy of Suspense 3 date stamped February, 1944. http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/newsstand.php?type=calendar&month=3&year=1944&publisher=all&sort=alpha&checklist=null
  6. Here’s my copy of the Overstreet. As you can see, I read it to death but I still have it Price listings were updates and focused more on silver to current at the time. No golden age in it.
  7. I’ve seen that copy before. It used to belong to another board member and then Reece had it. Nice full date stamp and just a few days off the proposed on sale date of Dec 1, 1939 here: http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=592
  8. My first Overstreet was in 1983 but it was the magazine, newsprint version as the annual guide was too much for me back then I was more interested in cover price then the publishing months on my comics at that time
  9. Very cool Harold. For the More Fun title, get the 31 and 32 for the Action 1 ad.
  10. It was quite common to have a 1-2 month newsstand appearance prior to the cover date for golden age comics. Silver age seemed to have a 2-3 month gap.
  11. Very nice pickup for $5 I like raw books but on this high caliber cover, I would get it CGC’d because at some point it will have to go and that will make it easier to move. As for the grade, had the splash page not be damaged like that, it looks like you would have a shot at a 2.0 (even with the detached cover from the single staple). But as is, it would grade poor (.5). But better that damage was on the splash page than the cover Could you count the pages and see what you have? I'm curious....
  12. My trifecta is not three consecutive issues (and slightly out of order), but the story the covers tell is impressive to me. All Schomburg covers USA 8 - Cap about to free Bucky as he lands on the wing of the Japanese plane. USA 7 - With Bucky free, Cap and Bucky parachute down USA 10 - After a successful parachute jump, Cap and Bucky start kicking butt on a Japanese sub
