It's crazy to me what this sells for now. You used to be able to get these on clearance from Bud Plant, they had a set of Sally Forth books you could order for like $8. Maybe less? It was in their catalog forever. I bought a set for the AH cover, and there's also a Xaime cover in that run as well. Mine is long gone, should have kept it, naturally. There are some real gems in the 90's Eros stuff, and I can't believe print runs would be very high, considering many shops wouldn't even carry the line.

Exactly why it's an ebay book. you just can't find it in the wild at a shop.. gotta be lucky at a garage sale.. I remember when Thrasher site's was selling comics for cheap back in 2011 .. no one wanted them for $1 each

Does anyone know if it says "Second Printing" in the indicia?  If not, it would be hard to say it's a second printing just because it has a different cover.  Unless maybe it came out at a later date than all the other original versions.

I don't believe so. There's 4 versions. Non foil, silver foil, gold foil, white error "bone" versions. I've got 3 but not the error.

Thanks for all the responses. Makes me feel even worse, since I have no luck in LA.
Part of the reason is we have the major Hollywood studios in Burbank and the Valley. Execs send their gofers out to grab many books for the next Hollywood hit. I've seen this first hand. Heck, reminds me of the B/W TMNT bandwagon era and even the Batman craze pre crash in 1989.

Here are some of the stores I frequent and, overall, great people but hardly any copper, silver or key moderns.

Legacy Comics - Glendale - Plenty of graded books but VERY expensive.
House of Secrets - Burbank - some stuff here and there.
Comic Bug - Culver City / South Bay - Great people, great community, not many keys
Golden Apple - Los Angeles - Some graded books and hardly any raw books.
Collector's Paradise - Hardly any early books
Continental Comics - Van Nuys - Owner is very knowledgable and has ALOT of back issues; mostly commons. But hardly any keys.
Earth 2 - North Hollywood - Some back issues/keys - mostly commons. Hardly anything sought after
Galaxy of Comics - Lakeview Terrace - maybe 10-12 slabs up on a wall. Great people. Tons of common books
Geoffrey's Comics - Redondo Beach - Good people - hardly any keys
Frank & Sons - Rowland Heights - Big super bazaar of collectibles. I go once in a while and find a good book or two.

As I said, there is nothing out here in LA or I am blind. Or maybe I need to change my strategy and just stick to online?

P Dot’s has good stuff., try going to the cons. Ontario Revolution was this past weekend. There’s stuff in the OC also. Go everywhere

  4. If you’re in OC, there’s ONLY two shops you need to visit. Comics Toons n Toys and JNJ Comics. Both have extensive back issue longboxes, key wall books, and constant new replenished stock. JNJ constantly has newly priced collections. Many keys and fairly priced high grade books. If they’re damaged keys they’re priced accordingly. Friday and Saturday are the best days to go. Tuesdays he’s prepping for Wednesday releases and shuts off a section of the store for space. Just be polite and get on his good side. Frank & Sons is so terrible. There’s probably 10 comic vendors and all high retail pricing.

Yeah, he took a few minutes at least to check through it, did the page count, etc.  There's a sale posted on GPA this month right at that price for a 4.0. Can't tell a lot from the picture, but it looks like there could be some spine damage.

    IH - 181 - ODD.jpg

The 1st guy at an estate sale who went the day b4 got one for $500 in VF condition about 5 yrs ago. A dealer friend got one for $2-3 in GD condition about 2-3 years ago by luck. Only advertised was a small stack/pile of badly beaten bronze comics. He then sold it right then and there to another comic estate sale goer for $600 outside. He was reluctant but wanted to make the guy happy. I've never owned a copy

He was - said he got there at 9 pm last night.  Complained that there were rats and raccoons scurrying around all night.  Think he just slept on the porch.

I was there about 2 hours and 15 minutes before it opened and I was 5th in line.  I thought 3 of the 4 in front of me "looked like" comic guys but only that first guy was, which is the only reason I could get what I did.  There were a bunch behind me and it surprised me they were "late" as they posted pictures on Monday of the two big books and several of the Spidey's which you had to know was going to bring all the boys to the yard.

There was no #129, but there were probably 10 other books between #130 and #164 but they were not as good as these four at first glance - spine damage/ticks, creases etc.

there was a time when companies didn’t look at eBay for prices. Just blanket $1-5 each pricing

Estate Sale this AM.  First on-target sale in a while.  Also had an IH #181 (which the first guy in line bought for $4100) and a TOD #10 for $1400 which I passed on.  My original ASM #130 does not have an MVS, so that was a very welcome find.

Oh man. The Hulk 181 guy musta be there the night b4. No ASM 129?
