  1. WOW!!!! Wish I could say I owned it! Just a beautiful copy.
  2. Well, til yours gets back from CGC, here's my filler copy. — Rick
  3. That's a beauty, for sure! Thanks. This one came from one of the nicest guys in the business — Ted Vanliew. (thumbs u
  4. Got this in the mail yesterday! A sweet copy with white, white pages and one of my favorite Planet covers. This one is off to a month long vacation in Florida after I finish reading it! — Rick
  5. Picked these up a while back from Metro. They advertised them as Mile High's. I showed them to some guy with long gray hair and a ponytail and he looked at them and smelled them and said they were not MH's. Whether they are or are not Mile High copies, they are still very, very nice. — Rick
  6. one of my favorite torch covers. just stunning. and i want to know why it isn't a 9.2. Just my opinion, but it seems to be Schomburg "like" and while has some qualities of him, I am not completely sure it is. I think it looks like someone trying to do Schomburg or it could have been he was very busy that month and didn't spend his normal time on the cover. The details are only half there compared to most of his covers and the composision is weaker than a great deal of his work. There are some similar traits, but they are not as prevalant. Either way, a truely stunning book, and very nice with white pages to boot. Congrats! Paul Thanks guys. I feel fortunate to have come across this book. I happen to agree that it looks like someone trying to immitate Schomburg. There are a lot of similarities, but no quite there. Still a great cover. BTW, that's a great Destroyer cover guys. (thumbs u Here's another one of my favorite Timely's. Now this is a definate Schomburg! I love these giant Subby covers. — Rick
  7. I love it, but not sure it is schomburg I don't think it is a Schomburg either. Still a nice cover. Here's another Torch that I bought "raw" and sent in. Not a great cover, but an interesting story and a book you don't see too often. — Rick
  8. Just got this back from CGC, I traded a few books with Chris Foss at the Heroes Con this summer and finally decided to send this in to be slabbed. Needless to say I was thrilled when I got it in the mail this week. The scan doesn't do it justice. (Pardon my lame attempt to piece two scans together in Photoshop, but my scanner won't get the entire book). This is the nicest copy of this issue I have ever seen and it has great interior art and stunning white pages. Interesting that CGC doesn't give a cover art credit. I know there has been some debate about this being a Schomburg cover. I'm not sure, but it is very Schomburg-ish. What do you guys think? — Rick
  9. They will cost you a bit more even if you're shooting for low grades like I do. That said, the hunt and payoff on these is SO much more rewarding. I love filling holes in my run, but when I've been able to nail down an ASM from the first 20 issues.... AH! Couldn't agree more, Mac. I'm just starting to rebuild my ASM collection. I'm particularly interested in the first twenty. Like many, I can't afford the higher grade books, so I'm concentrating on books that show well, and I'm trying to get them all with WHITE pages. Most Spidey's aren't that hard to find, but finding a lower grade that displays well with white pages can be a bit more interesting (and, a lot cheaper). Here is my latest find... Like you said...
  10. A couple of recent additions to the FF collection!
  11. OK, I'll add two of my favorite JLA issues to keep this thread going. I don't think these have been listed yet. I've had this one a while, but just can't get enough of #31. Just picked this one up from Heritage. I haven't recieved it yet, but it's another one of my favorite covers.
  12. Thanks. I've had the Planet bug for a while now, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to start . — Rick
  13. My very first Planet. I picked this beauty up a the Charlotte mini-con this Sunday. A very pretty book!!! Hopefully more will be coming soon. — Rick
  14. Very cool book! Here's one that I picked up this weekend at the Charlotte mini-con. — Rick
  15. I picked this one up off Heritage. Another addition to my SA Tec collection (thumbs up?) — Rick
  16. I managed to pick up a couple of books over the last few weeks. Here's the only "war" book I won. No DC, but a very pretty book. The colors are very bright on this one. — Rick
  17. I've posted this elsewhere, but it deserves to be in this great thread also. Picked this beauty up at the Heroes Convention a few weeks ago.
  18. What a great cover!!! That one is on my list also. — Rick
  19. Thanks, guys. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The color is better than my scan and it has nice off-white/white pages. The dealer that I got this one from also had a Golden Age Capt. Marvel #51 with a TRIPLE cover!!! I think it was a 7.5, 8.5 and 9.0. It was a very pretty book and I was tempted, but I really like this book and glad I was able to pick it up. — Rick
  20. Picked this nice copy up at the Heroes Convention in Charlotte yesterday. — Rick
  21. Welcome, Keith. I was wondering about "The Keith Marlow Collection". I see some beautiful books already listed in the auction and was wondering about the collection in general. Are these books that you bought off the stands or have you been picking them up over the years? Whatever the case they are some stunning books -- especially the war stuff I've seen listed so far. Again, welcome to the boards!!! — Rick
  22. Yep...the rest of his stash is coming to me...expect a parade of these books here (probably this weekend) before I go silently into the dark and creepy night. He's officially sold out. His wife is also expecting soon so please e-mail and congratulate or provide sympathies. Heck....I'm the one who told him he would make a great dad and said he should go for it. Guy is a great...well...guy. I was sorry to see him get out...but this is not the first collection he has built...and I don't expect it to be the last. Scott Yes. I think he's been through a few collections. I could always count on him to "talk comics". I bought some of my very best DC horror books and Doom Patrol from him. He is also a lover of tatoos I understand.
  23. Has Guy pretty much sold off everything? I picked up some nice stuff from him at one time.
