  1. You know, I thought about that, and this is the one book I would go nuts for... MUST WIN!!....except for the fact I have about $100 in checking account. That won't cut it. I can't imagine another 9.9 being graded, and if i subbed it, it would be hidden in a nice box in my closet for a loooong time.
  2. I agree. Unless they are big Joe collectors.
  3. Awesome! I'd love to see it. Anyone on the boards? I'm thinking at least 5K.
  4. Based on some PMs I had related to Sonic, the threads were from late '09, so the search function won't find 'em. The Fall 1991 date does make it tougher to pin down which came first, especially if we don't know how the mini was distributed. I don't know if this was on the stands with the regular books, a video game promotion, special order, etc. I know several people on these boards look up print runs & distribution figures all the time. Maybe there would be some data for the fall of '91 months (and/or the months preceding?) that would tell us when it shipped/came out (if it was, in fact, on the stands). If not, I'm still stumped. And if it's proven that the superman and justice league issues are the true first appearance of sonic? Guys, sorry I missed this post. The 1st appearance is NOT the Superman or JLE books. They definitely came later. The Sonic comic I've been posting came out in the late Summer 1991, September and October. CGC gives it the Fall 1991 distinction because that's whats on the inside indicia of the comic. It was originally distributed inside magazines. Hence the late Summer 1991, September and October months for distribution. It was inside a Disney Adventures magazine, a Sega Visions magazine, and a Mean Machines magazine. The Disney Adventures magazine has Michael Jordan on the cover, while the Sega Visions says "kid chameleon" on it. I haven't figured out the exact Mean Machines issue yet. They were inside the magazines. So if you ever find a sealed issue buy it! But truthfully they are impossibly hard to find, since most people who bought those magazines just threw out the stuff inside. Think about it, how often do you keep the junk mail inserts inside a magazine? Let alone put them inside a comic book bag and take care of them? Edit: information debunked. Sonic story is in those magazines, but reprinted in the magazine itself and not a mini comic inserted inside. Ok. So here's where we are at (i think): Sonic mini comic came from somewhere else,(hence the price tag) other than one of the magazines mentioned. Theres no insert in said magazines, just a few page preview on the interior pages. So where did the mini comic come from? Is it the consensus now that the mini comic is his first appearance? What came next? The 1/4 issue? Where did that come from? The next appearances I know of are from a major comic book maker (DC), and are in the pages of superman 62 and JLE 33 from Dec. 1991. After that it's probably the regular Archie's. Thoughts?
  5. In the link Rma provided, it mentions Superman 61 as an appearance. I thought it was 62, along with JLE 33?
  6. http://www.cooltoyreview.com/Hasbro_GIJoe25th_CP-CO.asp I need to do my homework before posting.
  7. Nowhere near as hard to find as those high # 3-Ds I've been chasing.
  8. Woah. Sweet. It's about spooning time. Shows you how out of the loop I am. Now we just need a scarface and Venom figure to go with him.
  9. Why didn't they ever make a Kwinn figure??? Ridiculous. And I agree, the early stories were really good until the series jumped the shark with the whole serpentor thing. Kwinn makes peace with the weasel, ... (dr. Venom).. who shoots Kwinn in the back.... Kwinn keeps promise of not killing Venom, and as he dies, drops a live grenade at his feet. Venom: "Fallen from a dead mans hand." BOOM. Still gives me the chills 30 years later.
  10. Ooooh ho ho! Don't get me started on Zartan! I made an entire display (shrine) for him. That color changing was, and still is, bad azz. It was always a toss up between him and storm shadow. I even had Zartan's discontinued file card. As far as the issues are concerned.. The whole kwinn, Dr venom, snake eyes conflict was awesome. The dynamic between the Baroness,CC, and Destro was cool as well. It all boiled down to #19, and the end of the arc. They had a fan for life. Really, it got me into comics in general. Best cover ever...too many to choose from. I always liked #2 because it was "rare and expensive" at the time. It was always on the wall or in the glass case.
  11. Good point. Why does it have a cover price if it was a give-away in a magazine?
  12. Looks like my question was answered. Time to start looking for those magazines.
  13. I've always loved the cover to #23, but it bothered me that they put him in his hood instead if his helmet, like in the story. Roadblock looks 7 feet tall. It me forever to find a 9.8 years ago.
  14. So someone didn't yank out the 16 page insert from a JLE 33, call it a preview comic, and rip someone for $172?
  15. Was this the winner? How does one price a book like this? Why this comic is so special? How it's possible that there is only one known copy? Only one "known." I'm sure there are a few left out there in quarter boxes waiting to be unearthed. I need to make a list of all these super rare copper treasures. I'm sure I've skipped over a few of them dumpster diving.
  16. Was this the winner? How does one price a book like this? Any way one wants. pretty much. Supply is very small. How is demand for this comic? Isn't there only one known copy? Is this still true, donut?

  19. Sports games on that system are a dime a dozen. I don't even buy them (i.e. sports games) and at times; when in negotiations with a seller; I tell them I have no use for them. I even offer them back to the seller for a reduced cost. This generally works; as most sellers then realize that all those 'Madden' games they have been buying year after year; are worthless. The same is true for ALMOST all the EA Sports titles and most in general. The exception is a Nintendo game sports title which stars Nintendo characters. But even these have price limits. I would NOT buy GameCube versions of Mario Golf and Mario Tennis; unless they were around $2 each complete; maybe $3, if I had to. The N64 versions go for a little buit more. Keep in mind that the GameCube version of Mario Tennis was rereleased on the Wii and was quickly discounted. I have five to ten copies still factory sealed somewhere. Not everything Nintendo touches turns to 'gold.' Notable failures do exist. When looking at this lot; look for RPG's, any MAJOR Nintendo frachise based game, and any 'rarities' that you can identify. At $100; if they are in the box; you would make money; if you BOUGHT AND SOLD the lot CORRECTLY. Keep in mind this may include cleaning the games and system; and breaking up the lot and selling it individually. This can be a lot of work, but this is how I make my money in this business. I never buy a lot of items and sell the entire lot as a whole; unless if I want quick and easy cash. With video games it pays to know what you are doing and pull out the 'good' stuff and sell it separately. I find a lot of NES systems at flea markets with common games that are NOT in demand. I then hear sellers complain that these systems are NOT selling. This is because no one is going to pay between $60-$75 for a used NES system with common games; especially in horrid condition. I sell COMPLETE NES systems with three games (including one good one and two common games) for $29.95-$34.95 on eBay. I sell them very quickly at that price. Keep in mind that with video games we are talking tens of millions of items mass produced and released on the market. Almost nothing meets the true definition of 'rare.' Key word is almost; but most 'experts' agree (another controversial topic) that the definition of 'rare' is ten or less copies of one item. Keep in mind that this changes depending on the item in discussion. Even 'so called uncommon games' I sell cheap. I sold Panic Restaurant a few months back (an uncommon Taito NES game) for $70. I paid $1 for it. I have no desire to hold that kind of game waiting for the right buyer to come along. I am happy with my profil margins. Let someone else buy and hold the game if they want to. I'll find more, I always do. Bottom line is I think you are okay with the lot; but I would offer $75 and ensure they are not all sports games. If however, this is an email transaction only, you may want to pay the $100 and take the chance. If this is NOT a 'face to face' transaction; I would gladly pay the $100 and take the chance, but that is only my opinion. You have to do what you feel is right. I get $49.95 for complete in the box N64 systems. I have been told that I sell them 'cheap'; but I disagree; as I find these all the time. If the Zelda games are in the box and complete in near mint condition these can sell for well over $20 each; and more (that is a low end estimate). . My prices may sound low, but I encounter this stuff all the time and can afford to almost 'wholesale' it out. This is my opinion ONLY! I wish you the best of luck and welcome to the world of 'picking.' Don't worry there is plenty of this stuff to go around. Of that I am sure! Kind Regards, 'mint' In my experience with classic video games (extensive), everything you've said is spot on. Rule 1: ignore sports games. If you're not sure what you're looking for, find the oddest titles you can find cheap. Another tip is if you find any games targeted at girls, you should grab them (Barbie etc.) The bigger companies don't make as many or sell many of them typically. RPG's are king. And I always buy boxed games if they're cheap enough. On a separate note to mint... I found a north American version of stadium games (NES as you probably know) for a buck, and sold it for $400. I should have kept it, though.

  21. $172? Poor sap. It pays to do your homework. So, the superman issue has the sonic promo as well?
  22. I had an opportunity to buy this book years ago for less than that, but I passed because I figured there would be a bunch more graded that high.
  23. I remember almost passing out when I FINALLY found an '84 storm Shadow on the rack at the local Albertsons. It was like life could never get any sweeter than that. In some small way, it doesn't.
  24. Have you seen any #6's in good enough condition to warrant grading? 9.6/9.8ish?
