  1. Such a cool book in any grade. Of course I'm biased as the proud custodian of a coverless copy signed by the Maestro himself!... Would love to find an original cover for this some day.
  2. Agreed. The 1.0 grade is due to it's overall condition (tears, stains, foxing, etc.). The cover being attached or detached really wont affect the grade or the value of the book. In fact, having the book slabbed by CGC with a blue label will maximize it's value and protect it in its current fragile state. I would definitely send it in.
  3. I would agree that the SS service generally improves your chances for grade leniency (as long as you include a press). I’m guessing 7.5 - 8,5 on this book. Thanks for posting.
  4. Congrats! All great books and you received some great grades. Welcome to the boards. Look forward to seeing what comes next.
  5. I'm sorry to hear it @ComicSpa. I think you should still have the book graded and slabbed. I would obviously avoid a clean & press though. The book has such great eye appeal, It will look great and be better protected in a slab. IMHO...
  6. 5.0. It will look great in a slab. Thanks for posting.
  7. Wow. This book still has really nice deep cover colors. Such a shame about that tear.... Also see some chipping along the bottom front cover and tanning to the inside pages. Is there any brittleness to the book? That cover looks pretty stiff and it almost looks like the paper cracked around the cover tear. With the defects and the tanning I'm going to say 5.0 - 5.5 (as long as there is no brittleness).
  8. I would agree. 7.5 at best with the spine stress lines. The black cover accentuates the defects. Still a great book. Good luck!
  9. Hey @Meekrab, why don't you weigh in with your own grade? I'd still be very curious to see how CGC would treat this book; assuming it doesn't sell of course...
  10. I don't think CGC will go higher than 5.5 with a clean & press. They have been harsh with their late bronze and copper age grades. Still a great book and likely to go up in value if the rumors about the next big villain in the MCU are true.
  11. Not sure that I understand. Are you saying that the red ink is original? If you look at the inside front cover, you can see clear signs of bleed through from the ink/marker used on the eyes. To me this is a clear sign of color touch. Probably done by the kid who bought the book in period. In any case, I would think that CGC would consider that as restoration.
  12. I'd have it pressed again. I better pressing job should improve the deep creasing that's still visible on the back cover, (IMHO).
  13. 7.5 with a C&P. Maybe higher if they do a really good job with the pressing. Nice book!
  14. 4.0 - 4.5 with a C&P. Pity about those stains but otherwise a solid mid grade book.
  15. Nice looking book. I am going to go with a 7.0.
  16. Looks like the cover is still attached so I'd say 1.5 to 1.8. However... those red ink stains around the eyes are going to give you a restored grade..... Personally, I wouldn't send this in to be graded unless you don't mind a PLOD.
  17. I have an 8.0 and this one looks a good deal better. With a good clean & press I would say 9.0. Nice book!
