Picked up a Batman 423 2nd print at a con for what I felt was a nice price for the condition. I'm always trying to improve my grading, and I appreciate the insights from this group. I'll post scans and what I think is the grade - please tell me if/why I'm right or wrong. Thanks! So, I'm seeing multiple color-breaking spine tics, color rub in the upper left front on the DC logo, a little color rub apparent on the back cover, a slight ragged edge on the front upper right top cover (above the "R" in Decarlo), and a soft lower left corner (looking from the front). Is this around a 7.0? Or is that too harsh? Also, before someone calls out the apparent color-breaking scratch on the lower right front cover in Batman's cape: That mark is on every single 2nd print of this book that I've ever seen. I ended up getting a 2nd print CGC 9.6 of this awhile ago for a decent price, and I almost didn't buy it because of that mark, but I looked at a ton of other books, and it's always there in my experience.

Two things - first, congrats on the 9.8! Second - what? A Kraft macaroni box?? Like a cardboard box that a bunch of Mac and Cheese came in? I'm confused but it made me laugh.

Lets see your books that have 50 or fewer copies on the Census
Jesse-Lee replied to frozentundraguy's topic in Comics General
I love this storyline - LotDK had a lot of great story arcs that spanned just a few issues - great art and cool Bat-action. Nice book! -
Some of those older Venom packs had 2nd prints of King Thor 1 (Gorr the God Butcher cover) back in the day, but I can't remember if it was the purple title Venom 25 packs or the white title... happy hunting!

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Jesse-Lee replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I just don’t see the point from a seller’s perspective - eBay basically lets buyers cancel a sale or make a return (even if the seller specifies no returns) for basically no reason, let alone a questionable listing designed to deceive. Seems like a lot of hassle as a seller. I guess maybe there’s a small chance you get away with it, but there’s a much bigger chance you’ll be processing a refund or a return. -
Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
Jesse-Lee replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
I agree - also, I'm sorry to be "that guy," but every time I see this thread pop up I grind my teeth - it should be "Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit?" Eased. Ok, sorry. I feel better having said that. I've been holding that in since April 26. That's what she said? I don't know... that doesn't really fit, but I wanted to make @kav feel good about it. -
I sold my original owner copy of this about 4 months ago - not sealed, and nowhere near as nice as your copy (box was a little beat up, inserts were pretty clean though), but complete in box. Congrats on a beautiful copy!

Box-digging finds at a local convention today - couple condition issues, but paid $20 for these 4 books, which I thought was a decent deal...

I always feel like these are Coppers, but I guess by some standards they fall into Moderns - someone correct me if I'm wrong... some various-grade box digging finds at today's local con.

What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
Jesse-Lee replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Supes 199 is pretty beat-up, but it's a book I've wanted for a long time but never prioritized spending the money. Found this copy at a con today marked $20, figured it was definitely worth it to add it to the collection finally. Maybe I'll spring for a higher-grade copy someday, but I'm happy for now! World's Finest 185 is another of those books I had as a kid that just never made the trip with me into adulthood somehow, but it's such a cool, Silver-Age-style story, I love it! Turns out it's the last 12-center in the series too. -
Went to a small convention about 30 minutes from my house today. It was a ton of fun to go and dig for a few hours and talk comics. Walked in with $250, and left with the stack below, a $10 bill and some change; I felt like I did ok. Found a really good amount of cool stuff just digging in boxes - only one of the purchases was a wall book, and it might not be the one you think.

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Jesse-Lee replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I figured the shenanigans would start up quickly with the UF4 facsimile editions: https://www.ebay.com/itm/304135637104 This is buried in the middle of a long description on the listing: "The original is the most in demand modern key so do not miss out on this affordable chance to own a facsimile copy in great condition." -
Modern Star Wars Comics that are heating up
Jesse-Lee replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Wrong thread, sorry. -

I read the story in this issue as a kid, and for the life of me I couldn't remember where - I had been searching "World's Finest" issues on and off trying to find it for a long time. Then I see this cover in this thread and it all clicked. Thank you!! Super excited to add this one to the collection!
