Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Jesse-Lee replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
This is on my list of "always buy it when you find it" because you could get it all day for under $5... And I actually like the cover. -
Posted this in the TMNT thread, but I figured I'd share it here too: My wife and kids got me a "Vintage Cowabundle" from Kevin Eastman Studios (6 Mirage books and 6 Archies) for Father's Day, and it finally showed up today! Really cool stuff - no earth-shattering books in here, but definitely a radical gift: They wrote a little note to my wife on the packaging: A pack-in vintage card: TMNT 45 signed and remarqued by artist/writer Dan Berger: And the rest of the books:

I agree, I think they go great together too! I have 359 in a 4.0. I went in on 181 without a specific grade in mind, just two criteria - it had to present well (since I knew my price range was lower grade) and I had to get a deal where I felt comfortable. I went back and forth with the seller on BIN offers until we settled at a good place - ended up being just a tad under GoCollect's current FMV for the grade. It's a sweet book! And I know everyone says it, but I still can't believe the price of DC keys compared to Marvel. This would be a $1,000+ book in any grade if it were a Marvel character of the same caliber as Poison Ivy.

Post your Garage Sale/Flea Market/Antique Mall Finds Here

Went to a pop-up flea market today. Only one booth with comics to speak of, and most people were interested in his LPs and other non-comic stuff. He had a couple of long boxes, and it was the weirdest, most random selection of books I've seen in a long time - most of the stuff was low-mid grade, but some of the 90s stuff is actually pretty clean. Almost everything was bagged and boarded, but nothing was priced. So I did my pulls and took it to the guy to ask prices. It was so strange - he shuffled through my pile for a minute, but he didn't consult a guide or online or anything; he just looked and thought a minute and then said, "these are $65." Comes out to just over $4/book, so even with the condition issues there should be plenty of meat left on them to turn a profit, but I was baffled by the randomness of it all and how his pricing structure/business model works... Dark Knight 1 is a first print, and the Batman 457 is the "000" error. -
To frame the man... it's got to be in-hand! Wooooooo!!!!!

You can get a 9.8 right now on eBay for $150, or a 9.4 for $50... they paid $110??
-
It made me happy to see that my Batman 404 in a 9.4 is worth $360 according to them though! I knew DC would catch up some day! /sarcasm for those who can't tell I'm joking. Also, $360 BIN on a Batman 404 CGC 9.4 for those who can't tell I'm joking as well... First wins.

For sure - just an ouch because it was pre-sold a lot on eBay (not by me, headache avoided), and the thought of having to scrap all those books, bummer. -

Was curious why my Crain Trade Venom 35 hadn't shipped, so I reached out to the retailer - this is what I got back. Ouch... -

Just wanted to say thank you - I ended up selling my Leo and April for $430. I ended up buying a couple of keys in the past few weeks (not for $430 obviously, but I sold a lot of video games/toys/comics last month, and the $430 went a nice way toward my buying goals). Glad I took your advice! -

I'd say Gleason, Garcin, Bianchi and Bagley. Maybe the Crain trade. -

I didn't go crazy but ordered 4 covers I liked before FOC at like $7 each (Gleason, Garcin, Bianchi and Bagley). I did find a Crain trade cover at what I guess was "retail" ($30) a while back, so I pulled the trigger on that too since it seemed to be popular. The virgin was sold out where I found the trade, but it was the only place I found the trade still in stock anyway. -
There are still a ton of php errors happening for me - anyone else? I made a post about this a while back, prior to the board shut down, wonder if there are lingering issues...
