  1. I just found it a couple of weeks ago in a dollar bin...
  2. One of my favorite movies - True Romance. Video is age restricted for language and some sexy-time (the comics part ends around the 1 minute mark). At 0:43 seconds: "Wanna see what Spider-Man number 1 looks like?" Then she responds like my wife does when I ask if she wants to see the cool new comic I just bought, and then he proceeds to show her a completely different book anyway...
  3. Thanks! I was thrilled to get it - it was on Dig, and you couldn't really tell it was newsstand until you clicked through. It was in the listing description but wasn't immediately obvious on the main page because of the character count in their descriptions, except if you squinted at the thumbnail. So I ended up winning it for basically dead on current FMV for a regular 9.6, which is only $90. And I love this book either way, so I was happy!
  4. I actually had to do work instead of being on the boards - it was awful.
  5. I thought the same thing when I saw it - but I actually do like the genre too. And I also like paying less than $3 before FOC for books that end up popping, so perfect storm!
  6. Anyone preorder Bunny Mask from Aftershock? Seems to be getting some love from the Youtube folks (I know, I know)... I preordered 1 each of the cover A and B because it looked interesting. I'll be curious to see what it does, and I'm looking forward to reading it. Also finally read The Nice House on the Lake and I loved it - immediately ordered the next 2 issues. All this time and I didn't realize Tynion was a Milwaukee guy like me! Cool to see him use those references in the book.
  7. No, sorry, it has to be CGC witnessed. It'll get a green label with a notation like, "Name written on cover in marker" or something along those lines.
  8. Last few eBay sales of copies in a similar condition to mine have been between $1,650 and $2,000. I don't think I'd ever sell mine though, or at least not for a long time.
  9. It's funny you say that - I found an outstanding first print of Rage by Richard Bachman (Stephen King's pen name) at a Half Price Books years ago, marked $1 and sitting on the spinner rack. That was my exact plan; I put a $5 bill in my hand, and if they tried to tell me no sale, my (possibly poorly thought-out) plan was to toss the $5 on the counter and run out the door. My logic was that it wouldn't be shoplifting if I paid 5 times asking. I just really, really wanted that book. Anyway, I got it for the $1 price.
  10. Really happy I finally got this book - now to track down a good price on a decent Batman 113 (first appearance of the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh). ...
  11. Coming in with a lowly 4.0 CR/OW, but I think it looks pretty decent for a 4.0 (even with a few newton rings - they're less prominent in person), and I got what I felt like was a great deal. And I'm just thrilled to finally own this book in any condition!
  12. Sold some video games, flipped the profit into some really good deals on some cool books: Also picked up an incomplete short run of Detective on eBay, and hit up a couple of LCSs for some recent stuff and back issues: And I got a couple of nice books from @Jmchnaway's sale - thank you!
  13. I agree with that sentiment, but it never works out in real-world situations. Well, maybe at the big box stores, but at an LCS there's not much recourse to make them stick to the price unfortunately.
  14. It's a private sale, you have to contact Sol Rosenberg for the details.
  15. "I'd leader to bed, but I wouldn't know what to do when we got there!" Ok, maybe more Paul Lynde style than Charles Nelson Reilly... Man, I love those old game shows.
  16. Exactly - I was at an LCS where they had a raw book marked at $15 in the boxes. Took it up to pay, and they said, "oh, that's an old price - let me get you a new one." Came back and told me the new price was $75, so I walked. It's a $30 book, maybe $40 on a good day. I wasn't looking to rip off the shop, but they had it marked and out on the floor. Maybe they'll find a buyer eventually, but they lost out on future business from me.
  17. I've made eBay offers on books where the seller has vastly overpriced a book compared to 90-day averages - I've offered fair market or sometimes even some percentage over depending on how much I want the book. It's been fairly received a couple of times, but usually it goes ignored or gets a counter for about $20 less than the asking. So as a buyer, I'm trying to signal that I want the book, but I don't want to overpay.
  18. Just grabbed the last copy of each A and B covers at an LCS today. Looking forward to reading this one, it looks interesting.
  19. Me too!! They were especially good if you put them in the fridge first.
  20. Yeah, at least that part I don't have to deal with, that adds a wrinkle for sure. But so far I've been getting my payouts next day, except for the first couple of sales. I hadn't sold for a few years, so I guess they needed to make sure I was legit. But aside from the holiday weekend (my payout is scheduled for tomorrow from sales on Sunday), it's been pretty quick. Honestly, I don't know why they don't create an "eBay fund" and just offer to hold the money in credit and earn even more - for me, my sales just end up being used to buy stuff I want on eBay anyway...
