  1. Good. Hate for that gem to get the purple label. Aren't you going to get it graded no matter what we say??
  2. I saw a few at Motor City Con but I will have to admit most were mid grade Bronze Age and some beater Silver-Age books with not too many of the prime titles (Spidey, X-Men, etc.). Tons and tons of dreky DCs though. I flipped thru a couple boxes but I found way too many nice books in the $5 boxes to spend too much time on the lower end books.
  3. I'm thinking 5.5 also. CGC seems to be hitting dust shadows pretty hard lately and the reader crease will drop it out of the above 6.0 range to me. But definitely a great looking copy!
  4. For your examples I would split them up since the number of people looking for just one issue is a lot higher then people that need the whole set and the price for all three (hulk 180-182) can be outside most people budget. Now if you have X-Men 131 - 139 or Spiderman 201 - 209 I find the set does very well since the cost is fairly low and people do like buying sets of books if they want to start a collection. Selling keys by themselves is usually best but then again you could get stuck with the undesirable issues. Kind of hit or miss.
  5. Thanks. Interesting read. I think I paid $10 for a NM/NM+ copy so I'm happy with the pick up and I'm sure it will only go up with the regular cover going sky high.
  6. I just picked up a nice copy of the Larry Comics #1 for cheap but don't know much about it. Is the print run similar to the original? Based on sales it's far less desirable but why is that true in today's variant world?
  7. I bought 4 nice high grade copies of #1 last weekend at the two Cons I went to and passed on about 20 mid grade copies scattered thru out the rooms. The #2 seemed more rare but the #1 was everywhere.
  8. Is the bottom edge trimmed? Don't usually see them so ultra sharp.
  9. If you have any VG/FN DD 168 for $30 hit me up - quick!
  10. I'll see you and raise you this steal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DAREDEVIL-168-Origin-amp-1st-Appearance-Elecktra-Marvel-Comic-Book-VG-FN-/311870082018?hash=item489ce7cbe2%3Ag%3ArxkAAOSwlY1ZFdJm&nma=true&si=V7s7PdnRq9bMZ1qFVLp0VM1Ywqg%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Neither are mine but they both make me want to check out E-Bay more often.
  11. This is 10 times more busy then I saw it on Saturday afternoon. There was boxes and boxes of fresh slabs behind the counter and no one was rushing over to grab their stuff. I wanted to peak my head over and ask "so what did they get?"
  12. Bought a nice set of Man-Thing 1-22 and the books arrived in great shape and packed to perfection. I'll definitely buy from him again and again if he keeps putting up the deals:)
  13. personally don't know which was scarier - the glut of Variants or the $1 Bronze/Silver-Age booths with tons of books left on Sunday afternoon. They were not high grade but come on there has to be a buyer of 1960-1970s books at $1 a book.
  14. He seems to be holding up well but I'm not sure how old the pic is
  15. Did Filter have a booth? Which one was his - the buy 2 get 1 free guy?
  16. No matter which Con you go to there seems to be no shortage of long boxes full of variants being blown out for $3. I swear one booth in Buffalo had 4 or 5 long boxes full and not one person looking thru them.
  17. I've got the store half filled so how about a 20% sale for all books if we complete the deal thru the boards. Send me a PM if you see anything you like and you can knock 20% off the price. Great combined shipping offer is in effect for board members also. <http://www.ebay.com/sch/1coolcomics/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from>
  18. Almost there and ready for round two. I'm the tall goob in a lime green t-shirt so say hi if you see me.
  19. Bob McLeod had a sign up saying the first signature was free (except New Mutants) and CGC books were like $20. He was sitting by himself sketching the two times I walked they the virtually empty artists and celebrity area. I stopped in to get a quick sig on a early new mutant I had just picked up since I assumed he meant no free sigs on key new mutants. Nope - no free sigs on all New Mutant books. I asked him why that was and he kind of shrugged and went back to having no line and sketching. The only thing more depressing was Jake the Snake and the Iron Sheik sitting with no line and nothing to do. There was a line for Shatner but everyone else had no line at 4:00 on Saturday.
  20. Wow - a Jazzno pick up and Hector lamenting the loss. Just like the old days.
  21. They did look very bored when I passed by.
  22. I drove 5 hours for that?? Still picked up some nice books but damn was that a Con I will not be going back to.
  23. Does Greggy know about your forbidden feelings?
  24. Still trying to will myself to finish the series. I think I'm on episode 8 or 9 and it just seems to bore me. I like having it on while I pack up books or do some scans since I don't really need to pay 100% attention and I still get the gist.
