  1. It's an extra $10 for the SS slab. So CGC is making $10 for witnessing the signature since the slabbing process is the same unless yellow ink cost more.
  2. Jim Starlin hates CGC! I don't know how to quote from Facebook but it appears Jim Starlin will not sign anything if CGC is involved. He post on his Facebook page that he does not see the point in charging to authenticate a signature. Any chance this view will spread? No chance Neal Adams or Stan are going to pass up on some cash but will other guys not sign if CGC reps are present?
  3. Nice! I had my CGC 9.6 #1 signed on the case by Tony Isabella last fall. It's been sitting around waiting for a couple previews to surface.
  4. Probably a 3.0 if graded. They will hit the all over wear on the front cover very hard. Back doesn't look too bad so maybe 3.5 on a good day.
  5. You may be onto something! Maybe signing your name a million times is a fountain of youth!
  6. I saw the $150 credit on the official receipt CGC sent me when the books were received. May take a week after you ship them so be patient but call if you do not see the credit on your receipt from them (not the one you print out when you submit the books).
  7. I think buying modern keys and expecting huge returns in 5 years will be tough. But if you can buy 60 overstock CGC 9.8s of blue chip characters you may be able to see a good return if the low print run keeps the number of 9.8 copies very low. Even if only a couple explode in popularily there should be people wanting to build a complete set that are willing to pay $50 in 5 years (especially if CGC grading cost go up again in the future).
  8. I'm not sure if he will ever stop signing. I'm sure they have plans to continue even if he should pass:
  9. Just checked GPA on the variants - I really can't stand variants but when you can make bank on a modern 8.5 then who cares.
  10. Wow - they drop the package on route or something?
  11. For an e-bay store I'd think any of the three would be perfectly fine. I'm sure there is some subliminal stuff at work but who really looks at e-bay logos when buying books? "That guys logo is bad so I better pass up on this X-Men 1 for $200".
  12. I like #2 best. Not sure I like the exclamation point for the I but I like the dark block letters and the infinity logo on the C & O.
  13. I'm also loving following along with your process and thanks for being so detailed on how you are doing it. I've never considered opening a store so it will be great to see how it goes.
  14. It happens all the time and it really does not work for most of us. There are a few sellers (like Mile High) which can price books sky high and then offer a 60% off sale (which is still double the current market). If I walk around a Con and see a Wolverine Limited Series 1 on a wall that is priced at $100 then I keep moving. If I see a Preacher 1 for $400 then I keep moving to the next booth. It is an art to price books above the market but not so high people don't want to bother making you an offer. Your test price is way too high and will have people virtually move on rather then stop to look at the books.
  15. I've only just started doing it but my last one was 9.6 and higher. I still make a bit on the 9.6s and they seem to sell fast on e-bay so I don't miss bad a few of them in a batch.
  16. The reveal sucked. It feels like the writers have been restricted to just using a few actors so they just keep rotating them in different future selves or as evil counter parts. I'm sure they do this in other shows but it's getting worn out on Flash.
  17. Very nice pick up on the Preacher 8 CGC 9.8. I've submitted 4 copies and gotten 1 9.8, 1 9.6 and 2 failed the prescreening. The dark cover seems to be tough to find in 9.8 so I definitely would buy at the $40-$50 mark.
  18. very nice looking key books!
  19. I think it stems from a bunch of factors. Some sellers think Overstreet is king and price all their books at guide and they stick to it even if it takes forever to make a sale. A lot of those high prices are BIN with offer so they assume everyone wants a sale so they assume someone will come around and offer 25% off and they still will make some good cash. Or they bought a book for a LCS at hyper inflated prices and they just post the same price when they go to sell it. But in a nutshell it boils down to it not costing much to list books in E-Bay (free for the 1st 50) so it really doesn't hurt to post up a few books at high prices in the hopes that a buyer will need your book for a gift and won't mind shelling out big bucks for the 1st copy they see.
