  1. That white cover is just so forgiving that I can see a lot more 9.8s popping up if the book keeps going up. I'd think $500-$600 may be the cap but I thought Walking Dead 1 had a cap much below it's current price
  2. I think that was the only gay sex scene in the book if that helps. The rest of the story gets even better if they keep to the book.
  3. It was in the book so I'm glad they stayed true to the source. Was a bit awkward but that's just because it's something I try to not think abour
  4. Thought 8.0 and bam - 8.0 it is. Could have seen it going 7.5 based on books I've gotten back lately.
  5. I was thinking 4.5/5.0 so it's nice to see the Golden Age bump is still in effect.
  6. Bought a slab from Aaron and it arrived securely packed and it was an easy transaction. I'd buy from him again in a second.
  7. I was thinking the same thing when I saw multiple new pages overnight and couldn't remember this much discussion on the new forums. And here I was worried my title would get the thread pulled.
  8. Leave it. The feedback is not really a reflection of you as a seller since everyone gets the rare shipping damage issue. If he gave you a positive but bashed your grading then I'd take the time to get it corrected but what he said was actually positive to most buyers.
  9. Wow - is getting volunteers that easy at a comic shop?
  10. Just looked at GPA for the Tales Teen Titan 44 you mentioned earlier and you are 100% correct. A CGC 9.8 SS does go for $130 more which is worthwhile even after considering SS cost increases. But a CGC 9.6 had a $71 increase which still is a slight increase after SS cost but nothing huge. Anything lower then 9.6 the SS designation was either slightly higher or in some cases less than the non signed copy. So the signature had no value unless paired with the ultra high grade designation. Why is that? The regular 9.8 is fairly rare but when you factor in the extra rarity of a signed high grade the price jumps up? I've found I do not have the patience to get books signed let along go thru the SS hassle so it's interesting to see how the process works for you guys that get books signed/graded.
  11. I think you could explain the principal of SS series and why it does not increase the price on most books until you are blue in the face and the guys that charge are not going to listen or change their policy. They see CGC people as people who are willing to pay big money to get a book encapsulated so why wouldn't those people have an extra $20 for a signature? I think most would be happy charging $20 for a signature to everybody but they know their lines would be empty if they charged $20. It's a cash grab from people they think can afford it which they have every right to do but don't sugar coat the reasoning.
  12. They charge $20 for 1 slab in the US and I charge about $10 for the shipping the same 1 slab. Double charging is there way of trying to force you to buy a few books since they ship up to 10 slabs for the same $20 which I can't come close to. Not sure if they also only charge $70 for up to 10 slabs to Canada.
  13. I don't like artist picking and choosing who gets charged for signatures based on if a book gets slabbed but I see your example another way. If the artist kept coming back and asking for the blue bread that was only able to be baked in that one oven in the entire world and the artist used that blue bread to make art which sells for 10 million don't you think the baker would eventually wise up and start charging for the rare blue bread? His regular bread is worthless to pretty much anyone except to eat so he keeps basically giving it away for free. You can say the artists does all the work by making the art piece out of the blue bread but it comes down to the blue bread being rare and can't be gotten anywhere else and is necessary for the art work which gives it some additional value.
  14. I'm actually considering going to check out 3-River Con in Pittsburg and Nickel City on Saturday and then hit Novi on Sunday. they are all a 2/2.5 hour drive from Cleveland so I'll try to combo a couple together so save some drive time. Or I may just do Novi on Saturday and Nickel on Sunday to check out two shows I've never been to before. I guess it will depend on how many books are available at each show.
  15. I love the fact that Starlin had to be talked into charging for sigs by other artist. He didn't seem to care for years and a bunch of guys wanted him to start charging to justify their own charging for signatures.
  16. Finally got my wife hooked to the show since she loved the finale episode. I truly hate myself after enjoying each episode but I quickly look forward to the next one.
  17. Didn't he say in the last post that he will sign for every other company other than CGC? So he really doesn't have a beef with people getting books encapsulated but not getting proper treatment from CGC this one instant has got him mad enough to issue a ban??
  18. I did a search on Sold E-Bay for " Starlin CGC signed" and got 93 results. Did the same search for Stan Lee and got 1,360! Although the PR is bad I don't think Starlin refusing to do SS will effect CGCs bottom line.
  19. I was at one of my local comics shops on Friday discussing with the owner about a finders fee if he calls me when collections walk in the door he can't move or doesn't want to deal with. He took my card and in walks a guy literally that second who wanted to see if they would buy some old playboys and some comics. The owner says "we don't deal in porn" but wants to look at the comics. He leaves and I go out and watch the guy from my car digging thru this huge box in a truck and pulls out 5 or 6 comics. The guy goes in to the shop and is back out in a couple minutes with the comics still in hand. I pop out and say "I love selling old "porn"". He has about 80 old Playboys and Penthouses from 1958-1975 and some cool chopper mags jammed into this huge tub. I offer him $60 for the tub and he seems happy to get rid of it. I didnt really feel bad about making the offer since the comic shop owner had already passed. I've just got done sorting thru them and some are a bit rough and half are missing the center folds but still a cool find at a good price. My wife was shocked at how tame the 1960s girlie mags were back in the day but it was a different era. Anyhow - here are some pics
  20. True - no one is forcing people to get SS books but it is true that CGC does profit from offering the SS service or they wouldn't do it. I don't blame them and I personally think artist should limit the total number of free signatures and charge for extra beyond that number. What fan really needs 20 books signed by the artist? I'd think a few would be plenty and anymore is for resale purposes so I can see why artist want some cash. But a person who waits in line for 2 signatures should be treated the same regardless of what they do with the signed books or who is witnessing the signing.
  21. Greggy is at a ton of Cons with an eagle eye. He gets in early with all his connections and at this point knows and is respected by a ton of the national dealers so he gets first call when collections are up for grabs. He and Harley are the hardest working guys in the industry from what I've seen.
  22. It's called ComicLink and ComicConnect.
