  1. Just arrived - you have been here since 2002. You are OG!
  2. I got this photo today from a Craigslist Ad - Is there a way to tell if that is a Star Wars 1 35 cent variant or a reprint from this picture. It will be a bit of a drive for me to go take a look in person. Never mind - the white box on the front must indicate its a reprint.
  3. I sold a Preacher 1 to him and he paid lightning fast. Definetely someone I'd sell to again.
  4. Doesn't matter which one of the list he is on since the end result is the same. I won't buy or sell to anyone on either list so I don't care one way or the other.
  5. Speaking of Cal - I would like to bring up a point he made a couple days ago. He really was against Claudio's auction in that he planned to give his book to the person who had the best story and not necessarily the highest bidder. I realize this is not against the rules and it sounds like a bunch of people enjoyed the format but does it open up a can of worms in terms of people not having to give the book to the highest bidder in auctions? I know Claudio has good intentions and as always his heart in a good place but does his modification to his auction leave a huge loop hole in the auction format? Can people now place a reserve on a book and not sell the book if it does not hit that reserve as long as they say its a reserve auction?
  6. Forgive the terrible photoshop job but this has been in my head all morning:
  7. Can that be real? That's $1 book in tax savings at 25%!!
  8. I think its several thousand dollars before a appraisal is necessary. Lets assume you can donate 10 long boxes or 3000 books a year. If you have ten buddies who want to donate 10 boxes each you could get rid of 100 long boxes of the biggest drek books at a good profit.
  9. Crazy question but couldn't you buy the books and then donate the books over the next few years to get the tax savings. If you are in the 25% tax bracket I'd think you could save some cash if you can get the books for $0.04 apiece.
  10. I think the shirt should be a half shirt to celebrate his typical low ball estimates.
  11. I've got the standard version and it works great.
  12. Has anyone confirmed what age Hustruck is? I always had him pegged for around 18.
  13. Some good sales in there, but is that a typo on ASM 300? An actual NM copy for $122? Yes, assume you mean that's low? It was 9.2/9.4 but yes I thought it'd go higher but that's the roulette wheel that is ebay... listed as 0.99 btw as were all the others... My eyes did bug out a bit when I saw the $122 for the ASM 300. I sold my FN copy for that much Thanks for the info since I love to see what books sell for when posted as an auction.
  14. Did you get VueScan? I've got it and my 8250 is working great.
  15. I had issues until I installed the drivers for the scanner. It's turned out to be a nice scanner so far.
  16. I bought a nice set of silver-age ASM and they arrived quickly and in great shape. His grades were spot on and it was a pleasure dealing with him! I'll be back.
  17. That BA 12 is sweet. Nice batch of books!
  18. Glad to see I'm not the only one with an 8250 that's possessed. When it starts grinding my dogs start howling and the wife yells at me... If I keep scanning one slab after another I have zero issues and like thunsicker said, if you take a break it's guaranteed to annoy everyone in the house. I thought that may be the issue. I scanned two in a row but then took a break to tinker with settings and the next one went into grinding mode. In the many years I've had my 8250 I've never heard it grind. I just use the microsoft software. I downloaded the drivers for that scanner and the issues disappeared. Imagine that
  19. Nice NM 98 CGC 9.6 - wish I would have gotten one.
  20. I downloaded the drivers for the 8250 and all the issues disappeared. I only scanned 3 books but each one went smoothly and the scans look good considering they are unprocessed.
