Im a "the customer is always right" type of seller but im struggling to pick a side here.
Did the missing pages affect the story?
Is it possible that the seller looked through the book and honestly didnt notice anything was missing?

Ive only ever held 2 copies in my hand and neither has that.
One of my copies is CGC graded 9.6 and the other is a raw newsstand in the VF/NM range.

You made me go back and look at the pic again, now I have to up my meds...
Thing is...
...even if he straightens that row, I have a sinking feeling the bags/boards are not all the same size.

Marvel should just come up with their own slab and hire their own graders.
Id buy Marvel slabs.

PLEASE straighten that row of comics.
Pic is triggering my OCD bigtime.

I got into comics after my friends father showed me his comic collection.
It was probably around 1986 or so.
He had everything Marvel...his favorite was Captain America but he had Daredevil, X Men, Spidey, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Hulk and more.
All his runs started with issue #1 and they were complete and up to date.
Beautifully bagged, boarded and long boxed.
He decided to sell his collection a few years later.
My friend and I helped him at the comic convention...the shows back then were strictly sports cards and comics.
He ended up selling his entire collection that day...someone made him an offer for what was left at the end of the show.
He didnt bring a single book home that day.
I dont know how much he sold them for but im 100% sure he regrets it now.

What would cause this?
Im assuming he didnt stack the slabs 15 high.
That probably could do it.
Extreme cold...maybe?

Is it possible to get a ME with any slab like this?
Ive sent 2 slabs back to sellers on Ebay recently because the slabs were not secured all around.
If I knew a ME was possible, I may have went that route because I really wanted to keep those books.

If 9.8s are not considered perfect, then there should be MANY MORE 9.9s coming from CGC.
I probably own thirty MODERN 9.8s and only two of them have a visible defect.
These are perfect books, many have never been opened.
Why are they not 9.9s?
Im not even asking for 10s.

If those are slabs then kudos! If you mean the 41 issues you need raw? You could probably find them all for $125 after all the purchases. They're not that expensive but $20 books as opposed to the usual $5-10 depending on condition....
I mentioned them to you not to suggest them for you, but you asked what were the pricey issues, and for whatever reason those 3 are.
Yeah, theyll have to be NM to NM+ for me to be happy.
Im gonna keep my eyes open for complete run of 401 - 441.
I dont think I have the energy left to find them one at a time at this point.
Thanks for all yer help!

I started collecting again a few years back. All I had saved from my childhood years was the McFarlane run (90s kid here).
I went the omnibus route for 1 through 192.
193 through 400, I took my time and made sure the books I added were all NM to NM+
I have graded copies + reader copies for (194, 238, 298, 299, 300, 301, 316, 361)
Maybe I should keep going past 441 but Id like to make an end before my wife hits me with a blunt object.

So Cosmic Carnage is Silver Surfer/Carnage?

I remember when I got back into collecting and learned 430 and 431 were more valuable than the surrounding books. Still weird to me that 1st Cosmic Carnage has some inherent value. I mean, should that be any different than 1st Red Goblin? They're one time shticks.
Theres a Cosmic Carnage?
Id heard about Spider Carnage but WTF is a Cosmic Carnage and why did we need one?

they're not that expensive depending on grade, and if you want to stop at 441 be my guest, past that number are some Campbell covers and no they're not variants.
I dont want to stop but I think im reaching the end of my "Spidey money" rope.
I may have to settle...for now.
Im gonna buy a lotto ticket tonight though, so...fingers crossed!
Does X-Men 4 (Jim lee) has common spine issues?

I was thinking more like damaged while being boxed at Marvel.
Maybe these were at the bottom of the pile and when the pile was tossed in the shipping box, the spines were damaged?
