This doesn't "fix" someone swapping out a lower grade book and then just selling it directly.

Thats true but that scam wouldnt have CGC in the middle like the reholdering scam does.

Im pretty sure that all CGC is worried about.

China may be selling empty CGC cases and if thats true...what can CGC possibly do to stop that?

Thay can only control what is in front of them.

I honestly didn’t take the part of the statement regarding processes as them adding anything “new” to any processes.

Knowing what we know about QC (there has been next to none… this isn’t speculation either).

IMO, the line “we have already made significant improvement to our processes” should have read…

”We’re gonna start doing the things again that we were supposed to have been doing all along, but which we neglected to do to decrease TAT’s so we could increase our profit margins.”

Does anyone actually think they revolutionized any new process to prevent this since this came to light last week?

    EXACTLY !

Either the scans implemented during the summer were a "fix" to this problem...

..Or theyre simply going to start doing what they SHOULD HAVE been doing all along...regrade any book coming in for a reholder, ME or custom label.

"We have already made significant improvements to our processes as a result of this incident..."

    ^^^Interesting

I wonder if the significant improvement tp the process was to provide scans of all books, starting this past summer.

I also wonder if thats actually when CGC found out this was happening.

  4. I hope CGC is able to stop this from happening in the future but I dont think CGC needs to do anything about what has already happened.

They should care what we think but this situation is tricky and I see them, most likely, hiding behind the old "grading is subjective" slogan.

CGC to anyone who asks: "Grading is subjective."

Scammer to anyone who asks: "Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me."

Both of these statements, in relation to this situation, may be lies... but lying doesnt seem to be a frowned upon much anymore.

Plausible deniability is all the rage.

When I first started cracking out my books, it was a major pain in the butt because I was trying to crack the slab open on all sides.

Ive learned the top of the slab is the easiest door to pull an inner well through... and it doesnt visibly damaging the case.

The top corners pop open with very little effort... then just slide a finger nail along the top... stick your pinky in there to hold it open... turn it upside down and shake it until the inner well falls... grab it and pull it out.

Ive done it so many times at this point that its not even a challenge.

I probably have over 20 - 25 pristine empty slabs in my basement

    Do better, CGC.

I think "inaccurate" or "no longer correct" would be a better term than "a lie". They weren't rusted at the time of grading. The seller put "EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SEALED CGC COMIC IT HAS RUSTED STAPLES. DON'T HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS" in large print in his description, it doesn't look like he was trying to put one over on anybody.

    Didnt say he was.

I said the grade is a lie... AT THIS POINT.

    And it is.

Do you guys think that Spawn as a franchise/IP will take off in 10-20 years where it does crossover to TV, animation, etc? I know its hard to predict, but it makes you wonder considering that this has been a long running franchise and besides a movie and one HBO animation many years ago, it hasn't taken off in other forms of media. I know the Blumhouse and Jamie Fox talk, but who knows if that will happen.

I recently watched The Spawn animated series with my 15 year old daughter. It was pretty good, Id never seen it.

Lol this guy is a madman i asked him how much he want for 400 to 700, and he give me a price of 9k...

I dont blame him for trying to get what he thinks they should fetch.

He quoted me a price on issues 400 to 441 that I just couldnt pay and I countered at $10 a book.

We couldnt make that deal happen, but again, I understand where hes coming from.

I think im a lot like him.

Collecting the ASM run that I have, in NM+ condition (#194 - 400), was a long road to travel with many, many bumps along the way.

I wouldnt ... I couldnt possibly part with them for less than what they are worth TO ME but thats how I know, barring tragedy, that I will never sell them.

Ill leave them for my kids to deal with.

That being said, if I ever do NEED to sell them, I understand the comic market and I know what to expect.

Most buyers simply wont buy a long run with zero key issues for more than $5 a book.

Thats why most folks will try and sell the keys for top dollar but take a bit of a bath on the non keys.

Thats just how the market works.

I have seen NM / ASM runs of issues 300 to 400 sell for $2000 on Ebay.

But there are some nice keys in that run.

I would love to find a collector or two that love Spidey!  The ASMs are such great books.  Love to find them a happy home(s).

    Hello friend.

Id be interested in Amazing 401 through 700.  You would have to ship them to Rhode Island. If interested, shoot me a private message with a price.

Good question. Very good question.  The only WW book that I like was Dead Earth, which is definitely 12+

What would I recommend for girls.
Let me seriously think on that and reply back

I have a 15 year old daughter and for Christmas last year I bought her the complete Batgirl (Rebirth), Super Girl (1996) and Spider Girl (1998) series' and she loved them.

I dont know how common those series' are to find in low grade but they would work too.

I just figured Wonder Woman has been around for so long, they may be easier to find in low grade.

Batman Universe is a good book for any age. I even have my 2 year old flipping through it, as it has dinosaurs, gorillas, action, and of course, Batman.

Our 13 year old read it, and frequently rereads it.

I’ve read it, and I love it. A true book for all ages.

And maybe some Wonder Woman for the girls?
