  1. I'd rather have the Supes 1 because it is unrestored and not easy to come by in that "high" of a grade. But that's just me
  2. This is why AF #15 is The King of SA keys! Not surprised at all with the sale. Book performs well all year round.
  3. Haha quite possibly, but don't really know about the history of the book. So rare to find a Supes #1 in this grade or higher, let alone any unrestored copy still existing.
  4. And it looks like with the early sales of 2017, that it is still climbing up
  5. What a beauty of a book. Whomever will own it next will be very very happy!
  6. I've seen that copy before because a buddy of mine was offered that book. The original seller's asking price was $575k. I guess he came down on it. It's a beauty. I even told him that the asking price was aggressive and that the book is worth around half a mil. Looks like I was on point
  7. Since the grade of a book is not downgraded for having marvel chipping, the price certainly reflects it.
  8. Saw it over the weekend! One of the best superhero movies ever made!!! Wow just so damn good!
  9. I'm almost 100% sure that Ayman is aware of the Berk CC auction in a few months. Who knows how many calls and reminders Metro will do to remind him of the auction as it approaches. I can see him winning some if not all of the higher graded rare books (pedigrees) that would fit his Impossible Collection and key books.
  10. I really can't see Subby in the big screen. Just not going to be an entertaining character for a movie.
  11. Yeah with the new information on the book now, it didn't go for a bargain. I think it went for about fmv roughly. The detached wraps are a concern and possible brittle pieces here and there. Would definitely benefit from a full restoration maybe depending what it would grade out after and the cost. Glad my bid was very conservative after all it was said and done.
  12. Hard to tell what the fmv is for that copy until it is properly graded by a 3rd party like CGC. So many variables at stake besides the obvious. Possible scenarios can include: trimming, married covers because interior was described as having tan pages but covers are like newsstand fresh, degree of restoration which can include cover lightning, etc. All those can impact the value sometimes at a significant way.
  13. Yep you are correct with the BP in Weiss auctions (15% buyer's premium with 2% discount if check, MO, etc.). I've won a few books from them in the past and all have been positive. Just wished I was able to win the auction. Oh well.
  14. So the book sold for $17k onsite. I wonder if onsite buyers pay the same 20% buyer's premium on top of that because I know online bidders pay that premium. So book sold for over $20k with juice.
  15. By a shady seller too! That book has been around. I believe Bunky B used to own it at one point. I wonder if it sold since auction ended.
  16. You think it sold for a bargain price? Seems like it but not sure what work was done it. To me, it doesn't seem that rice paper was the only thing.. I'm sure pieces added and color touch were involved and cleaning. Looks too clean with the interior being tanned. Thought it was xerox covers too at first.
  17. Saw this sell today at Proxibid. WOndering if it's the same copy the OP is talking about.
  18. Would be interesting to see how much the 9.0 copy at CC will sell for and how the price compare to the previous CL sale.
  19. Woops, I slipped my comment in the wrong thread. It was meant to be in the AF 15 thread comparing the CL CBCS 9.0 price to the CC CGC 9.0 copy.
  20. Thank you very much Tony for the insight on tape. All this time I thought regular scotch tape is the only kind of tape that would get a book on a blue label. Glad to hear that no matter what kind of tape it is, the book can still grade out in a blue label which makes sense to me. I'm not a big fan of tape at all because of the long term harmful effects it has on the book and it just looks ugly to me. I guess it's best to get a taped book evaluated by a professional to see what the best course would be.
