  1. I think the opposite if I was a consignor of a Supes 1 in the lower grade tier. I wouldn't be pleased, in fact I would pull out before the auction starts. In my mind, having multiple available copies in your grasp would lower the price of each one because if buyer A say was winning the 3.5 copy and gets outbidded by buyer B, buyer A can say well there are two other copies available that I can potentially win, why max out if I can just lean towards the lower graded copy and win that for cheaper. I think most would just want to have A copy rather than looking for a certain grade. Also, because all three copies have fairly strong eye appeal without any large pieces missing to the front or any writing, staining, etc. buyers can certainly make a choice. If say only one of the copies has strong eye appeal and the rest did not and/or have brittle pages, than buyers would be more selective. Now if each of these copies say were in different grade levels (high, mid, low) than I can be fine with my copy being up for auction due to different buyer pool. For a book like Superman 1 in which most would think that it is a book that is so rare to come by makes the rare factor washed up with 3 copies offered in one auction.
  2. ^ yes to above for me too and it stinks that all the books I watched throughout the years are wiped away from my account :(. I hope they can fix this problem.
  3. GL with the sale! It's a very nice copy!! Had I not owned a copy yet I would've jumped on this.
  4. I was gonna say. I'll trade you all of the X-Men 1 Jim Lee covers for it
  5. Same with me Joe and I'm sure the rest of us as well. I also have some confusion with regards to books being restored or conserved because I've seen the same notes on books but with both kinds of labels used after grading. So many inconsistencies.
  6. I know I have been charged sales tax living in CA when checking out of ebay, but I believe some states who are tax exempt do not.
  7. They do actually. One big one is how some GA books with small amount of color touch (I guess depending on size and location?) can still get in a blue label. If it were a different era book, automatic purple.
  8. How do you know? Were you guys together out in the beach wearing your speedos??
  9. Just looked and there's a message at the top left saying that they are preparing to unveil a new and improved look to the website and to stay tuned. I guess these things take time and careful testing to make sure everything works flawlessly including the auction part.
  10. 8.0 now but 8.5 after press I would think
  11. Are you trying to tell me that 6 months or whatever it takes is already not long enough for you to get a book back from CGC? You now want to tie them down with much more tedious paperwork so that the turnaround times can increase to over a full year. In addition, just imagine the additional cost involved which no doubt will surely be passed down to all of their customers. Very true, like it's slow enough already OR maybe it is up to the owner of the book(s) whether to have this extra step documented when submitting as an option w/ additional fees. It will of course take much much longer for them to get their books back, but hey if it's going to be in your personal collection for years and years might be worth it to the collector. And again, this would only apply to restored/conserved books so not every book will be documented this way. Perhaps a separate department in CGC can solely do this extra step, which would not affect current ETA's. Just throwing it out there, if it doesn't work out then fine.
  12. Well it seems to me that the QES/CVA stickers are here to stay for now. Definitely a money grabber for the auction houses because there will always be a consignor out there paying for these extra services. What's next HA will come up with their kind of sticker too? If there is a strong correlation with sales hitting record prices due to these stickers as opposed to books without them than I see why not. And if I was a consignor and I see that it is beneficial to have these stickers on my books when it comes down to selling, than sure why not depending on cost of course. The bidders/buyers are the ones setting these sale marks. Like what Miraclemet mentioned, it would be great to have the books properly and extensively outlining any defects inside the book before it gets encapsulated with a paper report of what was noted and what kind of restoration/conservation was done. How large are the pieces added onto the book? What kind of color touch was used and where was it applied? These are some of the things not addressed when paying for the CGC grader's notes. Also, although the auction houses will probably not agree to this, but I think that the QES and CVA stickers should only be limited to books with the highest eye appeal and preservation such as ONLY books with white pages, perfect/straight registration, deep/newsstand color freshness, etc. (think about Mile High and Allentown'esq pedigreed books).
  13. Yea.. unfortunately I cant afford anything higher
  14. Only one goal every single year.... Tec 27 CGC 9.8
  15. That time if year where a lot of scammers come out in need of that extra $$$ for the holidays unfortunately.
  16. You can certainly spare me some if you wish, especially during the holidays when it's a time of giving
