  1. Thanks for responding! That solved the mystery. Congrats on a fine sale too!! I think it's a high for a 6.5 Perhaps someone can inform George about it so the mistake can be corrected.
  2. I agree that CL and any of the major comic auction houses are more reputable than ebay, but it doesnt necessarily mean Ebay does not have real record prices of sales of their own too. One can say that Ebay has more shill bidding and artificially inflated sale prices than any other venue, but we've also seen this from some, if not every major auction house too. Until we have factual evidence on whether or not this sale is real, we cannot make assumptions and conclude that this sale was a fluke.
  3. I believe if say a best offer price was reached instead of a buy it now, GPA would have reported the offer price, not the buy price. I could be wrong though..
  4. Hopefully the board member who sold the 6.5 book on ebay can shed some light about it. If not well it's a guessing game
  5. I may have found the "$100k" sale. It's on ebay completed listings, sold on 12/4
  6. Also didnt MyComicShop sell a 6.5 on ebay for around $80k a few months ago? That would've been a record that time.
  7. Whooa wow, latest GPA and also mentioned by ChicagoBoy, that a 6.5 copy sold for $100k!?! Anyone know any details? Pix, where it sold etc.? It seems to be AF 15 is trending upwards again.. Possibly...
  8. GPA doesnt record all data. Sometimes GA may be limited. GPA is best for SA and newer. A lot of the higher profiled books sell privately.
  9. CL does provide some back cover scans limited to just high profile books. Although I heard that you can request a back cover scan if you email or call them. It seems Josh and co. are pretty satisfied with how their auctions run having the same format since they first started auctioning books I believe. No need to put extra $ towards upgrading I guess. I also prefer that each of the major auction houses have different ways auctioning comics and OA so bidders can have their own choices on where/how to bid and of course implementing different strategies in bidding rather than just limited to one kind.
  10. To me it's a no brainer to have it re-graded. Compare this copy to the other 5.0 copy that sold fairly recently with the sliver piece missing bottom right edge. Times have changed with CGC's grading from where it was to what it is now. Not sure if this is a record price for a 5.0. I seriously thought it would sell higher.
  11. Surprised that none of the owners within that time frame tried to re-grade the book in hopes it will grade higher. It definitely looks better than a 5.0 IMO. I expect the new owner to have the book re-graded and to have a new label #. Let's see if I'm right
  12. 3.5 for me. The stains would bring down the overall grade and I know CGC is really tight on grading books with stains. Without it, I can see it grading in the 4.5 territory.
  13. Just need to add the books you're interested in into your watch list and it will be stored there forever until you delete. Tec 69 sold for $11,200
  14. Might as well get a reprint for a tiny fraction of what this heavily restored copy will sell for
  15. Yup tanning is a downer for me. Would have passed on it if I was in the market for a copy in this grade.
