  1. I have been working on a run of Adventures 247 - 503 (last issue) for what seems like forever. Currently short of this target by 13 issues. Ten in the range 248-300 (yes, was fortunate to secure the key many years ago), two in the 301 to 400 range and one in the 401-503. (don't ask). I am not a condition nut, but due to shipping costs I will try to combine shipping to maximise my buying power. Let's face it, $25 to ship a $10 book grates a little. Ah well, it's all about the "thrill of the chase" - isn't it?
  2. Great story. I'll pick up Moderns when they finish a run. I know they are reprints, but the completist in me refuses to listen to the logic.
  3. Hey!! BangZoom's posting in Robot Man's thread!! It's like a DC and Marvel crossover event I'll echo BZ's appreciation. The books are lovely and I really enjoy the other "junk" too.
  4. Likely a deliberate error. Distributors in the earlier times liked to carry comics with a "track record" and did not like putting their faith in new titles. Lots of first issues back in the day did not kick off with "No 1", especially from the smaller publishers.
  5. Ahhh, he's back. The stars return to their firmament, and all is right with the world. Great news.
  6. Assuming I paid Jerry via PayPal, which I have almost always used to pay for anything, I could probably dig up the transaction, among my many thousands (unfortunately). The back of the Mylar had this label which I have zoomed up. Does anybody recognize this as either Jerry's writing or store? "O'Leary's Books"? I'm pretty sure the label is from the O'Leary's just south of Tacoma, Washington that closed about 10 years ago. Correct. Ron got married 31.12.1999 in New Zealand and moved to Australia where he's teaching at a small country town. How do I know? I was Best Man.
  7. 24 pages. Damn, the comics were skinny back in those days. Been a while since you've graced this Journal. Stop slacking.
  8. And I was so enjoying this thread . . .
  9. Will someone tell CGC that the word is "Foreword", NOT "Forward". Thanks in advance.
  10. Great stuff David. What's interesting is that the writer DIDN'T resort to the "Wham Smash Pow" article title cliche and really didn't play up the "look at how much money people are paying" aspect either. Howard the Duck a $1,000 comic? . Maybe, but it's 38 years on and I'm still waiting
  11. Yup, a 48 page pocket list with yellow covers. I know I've got one from back in the day , but damned if I can find it
  12. Ahhh, Bobby Bell. One of the good guys who didn't mind shipping here. Bough a lot of books over the years, to the extent he sent me a Christmas card one year. Now, the bag you've shown here, Bob, is the second "style". Here's his initial offering, note "primitive" type face Funny thing is, even when I come across an old book in a Bell bag and re-house it, I can't bear to just throw out the old bag. So I now have a world class collection of old Bell bags. Collecting is a sickness, I tells ya.
  13. I have never seen this book, never heard of the musical and now I cannot rest till I get one. How on Earth does a musical translate into a comic? I know it's been done before (Mary Poppins, Annie et al) but it's still an odd duck.
  14. All these are great RM, but this one really appeals. Now, the box blurb indicates it's an "Animated wrist watch" , but I confess I cannot see anything on the watch that would move - other than the regular hands. Is this just a bit of marketing hyperbole or am I missing something?
  15. Hepcat, can you ask "The Man" whether these posters (especially the Vampirella) are large? I seem to recall the Vampi was available in a 6ft incarnation . . .
  16. Dopey says? Dopey doesn't say ANYTHING. (I have read the reason he was cast as a mute was that Walt Disney couldn't find the right voice for him)
  17. It's a wonderful time for all concerned - except for poor old Frankenstein's monster. He's bringing up the rear, so securely shackled he's unable to participate. Great, rarely seen books RM (thumbs u
  18. Interesting stuff, despite the offscale geek factor. I note the tail section on the "model" MIG 19 is very different to the real plane and the comic book version. Your thoughts?
  19. Thanks for quoting me. My error now preserved for eternity in "internet carbonite". *Shakes fist in impotent rage*
