  1. I asked a question in the Avengers #1 club about how apparently books with worse looking covers could get higher grades than others that looked like they had an easier life. @grendelbo and @KCOComics encouraged me to post my (beat-up) Avengers 1 here. The back story is that I bought this and other books off dealers in the '70s who saw the chance to unload low grade copies on me as an international customer. Anyway, here it is (bought as VG in the '70s but obviously a long way from that grade). The issue is where in the 1.8 to 2.5 range would it fall? The FC is better than the 2.5 in the Av1 thread, but the BC let's it down.
  2. I have a beat up Avengers #1 so am trying to learn about where it might rank in the 1.8 v 2.0 v 2.5 range. May I ask how that book above got graded as a 2.5? It looks like it has had a harder life than this 2.0 (not mine; it is currently at MCS):
  3. He should have developed a career as a movie critic
  4. I don't think it's the interest rates so much...It's because I bought a copy of X-Men #1 then the prices started dropping. My super-power is buying at the peak ;-)
  5. That modification to the cover should get more money from the Paste-Pot Pete fans, since he now gets two mentions. GLWTS
  6. Pfft...! It's easy. So easy, that I learnt it when I was just a kid.
  7. Worth the price to get that art by Wrightson when he was so very young. ;-) Al Williamson went OK in this book, too.
  8. Yep thanks I got it now. (Or actually, a year ago when the first replies were made).
  9. No. My collection is only one-way. ;-) I have only ever sold one book, (a very rare underground here on the forums about a year ago).
  10. Lucky to have got this years ago, even though it is low quality...
  11. ST1 was such a great book back in the day and a game changer for Marvel. I was so glad when at last I got a copy back in the late '70s - so would recommend this to anyone...
  12. 5. Seen worse tears getting 5.5. The tanning detracts but it doesn't seem to be punished as much.
  13. I'm sure they do, but I am not motivated by merchandise. Even tons of it.
  14. Thanks for the information. I don't watch those movies but saw an ad so know what people are talking about now. So I remain in sublime indifference about this character. At least I can save some $$$ by not joining the rush for this book.
  15. Thanks. Another dumb question: what is the importance of Groot?
