  1. Hmmm, looking to future resales of this limited edition, they going to have to find some pretty big slabs.
  2. Those FF's will be worth more in 10 years. Unlike her stove.
  3. Any idea why did that sell for so much less than the 1.5 that was reported just a few posts before yours?
  4. I would give this a try... maybe the Rockefellers still give money like this to well-written pleas from collectors.
  5. Thanks for posting this - it was very interesting! I was pleased to see Al Williamson talk about his favourite EC story. That was/is my favourite too for all these many years.
  6. I would like to know about them! I visit this site nearly every day but have never seen where these contests are announced. Maybe I don't get around the forum enough...
  7. I think it rates a 7.5 based on the front cover, but would not be surprised if CGC drops it down a grade for the grubby BC.
  8. Yes and the back cover would have been pretty horrific back in those days, too.
  9. FWIW MCS had a CGC 3.5 on sale for $6400 when I checked this several months ago, so not that funny. I guess the prices on ebay have cooled down a fair bit. edit: Plus what Spaceguy said about the quality of the ebay copies.
  10. Not so! Here is one from my OOC I bought new for 10c in 1965: In Australia the books that sold for 12c in USA only cost us 10c at that time.
  11. It looks like others agree with you. I happened to look at this back in May. The lowest price a 9.6 was being sold at MCS was $1350 then; the lowest is $850 now.
  12. Yes I was collecting comics in the '70s. It was very difficult getting hold of back copies, especially living outside the USA. (I am in Australia). You had to mail away to dealers to get their price lists, then send your order with a bank check. It took 2 weeks at least for the turnaround. (Amazing that the post was so good back then - I am still waiting for a shipment that was sent by USPS on 20 December, which they have lost track of and according to them is still in NJ). Anyway because of the tyranny of distance the dealers knew they could get away with sending poor quality books - so for example I paid for a AF 15 in VG or better and got this: If it had been VG or better I could retire now...
  13. Haha! Very true. Here is the first I got. Can you guess how much it cost me?
  14. One thing I have to STOP doing is keeping on buying more BWS Conans. These were the best books of the '70s imho. Whenever I see any of these come up, I just think they are horribly undervalued and have to rescue them and give them a good home.
  15. You should have had a lot more space/time between "Call" and "The End". ;-)
  16. Yikes you are right... but so am I ... because DD#1 IS a key...
  17. And they didn't even have the benefit of driven up prices due to speculation of upcoming movies!
  18. What issue did they change the spelling of "Murdoch" to "Murdock"? That should be a big key!
  19. 5.5 to 6.0 ... lower if that is really a tear on bottom of FC
