  1. I have been in the 50's both times I have done this. And yet! Still got cool stuff!
  2. This theory hinges on the seller either (1) having a way to crack an existing slab, replace a book and seal it again well enough to fool CGC, or (2) the seller being a CGC employee who is swapping out books on site? That right?
  3. Generally speaking and most commonly, it's someone who won't shut up. But 15 counts is extreme by any measure.
  4. I was looking at this, but I guess this isn't strictly Phase 5? That started with Ant Man?
  5. If you take out the Deadpool numbers, which are only kind of tangentially X-Men, the R.Ratio drops to something like 2.9. Which is...the same as Phase 5 Marvel?
  6. Well, I have occasionally been wrong before. I did think the Flash could get to $600-700m. I'm not wrong about this tho'
  7. Um, are you predicting A2 will do more box office than A1? If it's common sense? Because there is no way that is happening. I would be happy if it was good and did well, but I can see this writing on the wall from very, very far off.
  8. I'm sure it's specified that if he puts in a value and they lose/f-up his book, that's the max value he gets, even if the book was worth more. That's kind of how insurance works. But, on the flip side, if he over-values his book and they lose/f-up his book, they will only give him "fair market" for the book, and not whatever it was he valued it/paid for. But if you're asking if they upcharge him because (they say) he undervalued his book and he pays the upcharge, then I would assume they are back on the hook for the value they said it was when they upcharged him. Don't think they can upcharge him, lose/f-up his book, and then say "well, we're only compensating you based on the value you originally claimed....
  9. Ima pat myself on the back for even being third.
  10. A very, very, random $1244.21 will be my guess.
  11. It's kind of criminal for them to charge such huge fees based on what they think the books are worth. I mean, you really ought to be able to submit a book and just say, please grade this, and get it done for a flat fee. Not like the service changes. They are not an auction house to be demanding a cut of the total value like this. Now, if you want insurance, that's a whole different ball game. I understand declaring a value, and then they might have to charge more to cover the insurance. But if you want to set your own "risk" level as far as that goes, they shouldn't be bumping you up because they decide the books are more valuable than what you decided. Meh. What do I know. I guess this happens everywhere, but still annoys me.
  12. This looks amazing. Something upcoming to actually be excited about.
  13. I mean, I have no dog in this fight, but "threatening suicide" as Majors appears to have done on more than one occasion here, is a classic abuser tactic. Because it results in the person who you have abused suddenly being placed into the position of having to comfort you, to tell you that it's going to be okay, and to reassure you that you are not, in fact, a terrible person. That ******* who abused Melissa Benoist did the same kind of ****.
  14. Man are you saying that if I expressed my opinion here in sufficiently strong terms I might make it into the lawsuit? Cool.
  15. I bought some books! They were packed very well! This was a very easy and pleasant transaction!
  16. I read somewhere that the reason was that the "rights" to use the Human Torch specifically were tied up at the time, like they were sold separately somewhere. I assume to some entity that was interested in making a Human Torch solo film?
  17. I am trying the Black Friday Paramount+ deal (3 months at $1.99 each) to binge some Star Trek shows. But I gotta say, it's the worst app/streaming service I've ever tried. Has anyone else experienced this? (1) the ads. I know the "deal" comes with the ads, and I was fine with that. What I am not fine with is the ads playing at a volume roughy 2x that of the actual show. They are deafening. To the point where you simply have to mute them, and I'm just watching the entire show with the remote in my hand to reflexively hit the button as soon as they are about to start. (2) and then, after the ads have played - at random times - the show jumps back and starts playing from an earlier point in the program. You have to then fast-forward to get back to where you left off (thankfully, the ads do not play again when you do this). I have never experienced this before. It is not consistent. Sometimes it does it. Sometimes it doesn't. It's just...wild. (3) random freezing. Again, usually while the ads are going, sometimes the whole thing just...freezes. And you literally have to exit and restart to watch some more. (4) one time the "auto narration" feature started playing randomly. I had never experienced this before, and I had to look up online how to turn it off again. The cynic in me says they do this to make the experience of watching with ads so miserable that you will pony up and pay for for the subscription without the ads. But that just seems so crazy to tank your own service like that. This is not making me want to subscribe to Paramount+ without ads. It's making me want to never watch any of their stuff ever again. I had the Hulu with ads deal before and didn't experience any of these issues. /rant
  18. I mean, just keep it like it was? Yes, there were non-comic book films talked about. It was fine. Restricting to "comic only" seems like one of those "letter of the law" vs. "spirit of the law" kind of things.
