  1. Somewhat bearish on the turtles are we? -J. I've noticed less WTB threads on TMNT #1 recently and more FS threads with the books going unsold (even after repeated price drops).
  2. Census now for the record is: Batman Adventures CGC Universal 10.0 zero copies 9.9 zero copies 9.8 98 copies 9.6 84 copies 9.4 47 copies 9.2 23 copies 9.0 13 copies 8.5 7 copies 8.0 3 copies From what raws Ive seen on ebay, the chances of 9.8s increasing is going to be slim. I would expect to see a rise in submissions though and you will see the lesser grades rise. Currently NM98 has 1,081 and WD1 has 519 cgc 9.8 universals in comparison at this time. Also keep in mind that there was also a direct release (bar code) version (not noted by CGC) but is certainly much harder to find in high grade and as time marches onward and this book develops into a modern mega key, the bar coded copies of this issue will rise above the other. Almost one year later of Harley Mania, curious to see the increase in submissions for each grade of this book..... Batman Adventures CGC Universal 10.0 zero copies still 0 copies 9.9 zero copies still 0 copies 9.8 98 copies 232 copies 9.6 84 copies 240 copies 9.4 47 copies 127 copies 9.2 23 copies 65 copies 9.0 13 copies 52 copies 8.5 7 copies 31 copies 8.0 3 copies 12 copies 7.5 13 copies 7.0 4 copies 6.5 10 copies 6.0 2 copies 5.5 2 copies 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 1 copy 3.0 1 copy 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 Honestly, I thought there would be a lot more 9.8 / 9.6 copies on the census.Still just not enough to go around. Lord help us if there's ever a movie announcement, if Deadpool's "increased" popularity the past week is any indication.
  3. That is cool. (thumbs u Anyone have one of these to sell me or know where I can find one ?
  4. I'd be amazed if there weren't still 500 in existence. In fact I can't see any reason why more than 10% of the print run was lost or destroyed. Very few people are looking for this book which is why there are so few on the census. The fact you just paid $1,000 for a 9.6 doesn't make it rare, no matter how many times you repeat yourself.
  5. Isn't current Overstreet based on last years prices ? Why do you keep referencing recent #181 sales ? #181 has obviously heated up in the last year but that has no relevance to the current OS.
  6. There's also spine rub on the top half of the book, the only flaw visible on the smaller scan (apart from 1 spine stress).
  7. Also moderate spine rub, top half of the book, still looks harsh at 8.0 though.
  8. I loved those issues then and the 8 year old in me still loves them now. Great battle issues are what got me into comics in the first place and this was an epic battle story arc.
  9. Don't know if this has been posted but in the opening scene of Cape Fear, where Max Cady is doing press-ups in his cell and you see his Truth / Justice tattoo, he has Black Bolt and Captain Marvel pages pinned to the wall.
  10. I'm surprised at the number of people (initially) saying this was the best of the X-Men movies. Perhaps my expectations were too high going in, but I was a little disappointed and put this firmly behind X2 and First Class. Quicksilver was brilliant, the action scenes were brutal (as they needed to be with X-Men being slaughtered in the source material) and the X-Men fought well together as a team. But I didn't think there were enough action scenes and the film sagged in the middle. Fassbender and McAvoy were great, but I much prefer Rebecca Romijn to Jennifer Lawrence. The Sentinels should have been much chunkier but I liked the contrast between the old and the new and loved the way they flipped their powers depending on who they were fighting. Overall - B+.
  11. I could not disagree more. Stryker was a wuss compared to the X2 version and Sabretooth sucked.
  12. I saw an extended trailer before Godzilla last night and it looks awesome. Never thought much of Quicksilver but he looks like he'll be a stand-out, like how Nightcrawler stole the show at the start of X2.
  13. I think Spiderman 2 from Rami is still the best one too. I think that actor that played Octopus really made the difference. Medina gave a depth to that character that stood out compared to the we just witnessed with Jaime Fox. On a side note I usually buy the blu ray's of all the spiderman movies, even 3. But I won't be getting this one, I really have zero desire to sit through it again. Heavyweight actors make a big difference to these roles, which reflects on the whole movie. You need acting ability to lift these characters off the comic pages with any credibility.
  14. I watched X2 and X-Men First Class (yet) again recently. X2 really is a great movie, with a rock-solid plot. Brian Cox's Colonel William Stryker has to be one of the all-time meanest s.o.b's, not just in comic book movies but in all cinema, right up there with Rooster Cogburn and General Patten. The other Colonel Stryker's have paled in comparison. My only criticism is i still cringe everytime Hugh Jackman does one of those classic Wolverine comic book poses. X-Men First Class gets better on each viewing and is just a stylish, exciting movie that has to be right up there on the list of the best comic book movies ever. I hope DOFP is as good as either of these.
  15. I've always been big into the Elseworlds 80 Page Giant #1, that was recalled due to the baby in the microwave panel. Only one shipment made it to the UK before they were pulped. I was really surprised to see a CGC 9.4 sold for $412 on April 21st and a raw VF 8.0 sold for $316 on April 30th. I looked into it and the belief now is there are only 700 copies, as opposed to the old estimates of 1,500 to 2,000. I'm delighted as I still have several minty fresh copies and threw this up for sale on the boards when I saw the recent prices.
  16. Aw, man! This has got me pumped! I've got a feeling Quicksilver will be a standout in this movie.
  17. To save me repeating myself in the light of the new announcement.
  18. No I was comparing Superman to the forges in Pittsburg which were able to melt Thor's hammer back together.... That was a temporary fix until he got it back to Asgard for Odin to mend. That's just Stan's poetic licence from the Silver Age......
  19. You're not seriously comparing Superman with the Destroyer ? SA Destroyer has dozens of powers far above anything Supes can produce.
  20. Good point. Superman could pick up Thor's hammer-and snap it. And bend Cap's shield into a taco. Then stuff the Hulk into it. We gotta judge these 2 dudes by who they fight...... Superman cant pick up Thors Hammer Well he could melt it with his heat vision.... Actually, Thor walked through Supes heat vision like it wasn't there. Thanos and Darkseid have already fought, in the Marvel v DC series, and it was pretty even. Remember Superman can moderate his heat vision to cooking hotdogs or slicing titanium-that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Anyway we were talking about the hammer, and I can prove Superman's heat vision would melt it if I have to...... Trust me, Supes had it on full blast, and Thor's hammer is a lot more durable than his skin.
