  1. I just uploaded a Mike Zeck Batman "prelim" to CAF. I think this prelim is tighter than finished pieces by others CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  2. Oh yeah, the other thing is the page has not sold. Like many of the attempted flips listed here. I once bought a page for $10 and I consigned it to CLINK and it went for $500+ Malvin
  3. heh, that gene actually runs in my family! Malvin
  4. That's true. I don't know, maybe she was cursed with pig hands in that issue I like Anacleto and want to replace and example I sold a fe years ago but since I never read that comic (and likely never will) I won't have the context and I won't buy that art (and therefore it is a turn off) Malvin
  5. agreed. but I am like that too, once I see a flaw I can't unseen it, and those pig hands make me shudder. Malvin
  6. I just uploaded a couple of Fury pages (original Ennis miniseries) with Wendel! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1650770 https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1650769 I also have this older Wendel page while we are on that topic: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=753063 Thanks for looking Malvin
  7. don't worry, I'll outbid your $1 bid with a $2 bid. Malvin
  8. I'm being nitpicky but item 2 doesn't make sense. I presume in this example you saw it at $5K and didn't want to buy it for 6 years. So even if it goes to $5,001, $8,000 or $1M, you weren't turned off. You were turned off at $5k! Sorry, just being nitpicky as I said. Malvin
  9. I don't participate in this thread much since I think what someone does with their art is their business. I also buy and sell all the time as many of you know (I do auction most of it though). I tell my wife doing that helps me self fund the hobby, although I am sure she is aware that my buying and selling isn't going to make up for the 5 figures I spent on HA and Clink the last couple of weeks Anyways, I bought a Punisher turnaround by an unknown artist on ebay for 10 bucks a few years ago. I bought other things from the seller so my cost really was only $10. It was solidly done so I thought it was a pro and not an amateur drawing but I couldn't figure it out. I even showed Bob McLeod when he was at a local con in the hopes he could ID the penciller. All he could conclude was that the penciller was likely a Pro and not an amateur (but not a good one he said). I gave up trying to identify it and sold it during comicart live for $17. Now it's available as a Steve Dillon Punisher piece for $1,500 CAF Link Malvin
  10. true, you never explicitly said deal, although "once the OA world get's wind of this and it will be gone fast" implies it's a deal. And talk is cheap, all that "praise" is just talk unless they buy it. and unless he lowers his price, it will be sitting there for a long long time. Malvin
  11. Let me pour some cold water on this, the opening post said this (emphasis mine) A very, very high profile commission piece by an A-list artist was not useable for the purpose it was commissioned. This is very, very recent. The Artist is advertising the unused commission piece on his website. I love the piece, and I’d make an exception from my usual “published only” restriction due to the high profile nature of the piece. But it’s outside my normal price range. By a lot. I could swing it if I wanted to, but am hesitating due to the price tag. Frankly, once the OA world gets wind of this, it’ll be gone pretty fast. So I have a very short window. Any advice? And the price is really high for me. It’s not even close to my top end range. Is it really possible for an A list artist to post something on his site and the OA world doesn't know about it? It is some sort of secret deal that only a select few know? I didn't know what it was but saw the link and realized that I did see it. The artist include it in his regular mailing list. It's no secret. It's still there, which also mean's its no deal. Also, if it was a deal, I would have bought it, I tend to jump at deals (or perceived deals because sometimes I am wrong) Malvin
  12. You should listen to the Felix podcast on hesitation. I knew that story when it happened too (Felix told me in chat when it happened) Malvin
  13. My guess would be deadlines. The page with pasted bubbles probably took the artist longer so the letter did it separately and it was pasted on later, rather than getting the completed page and then lettering on it directly. Malvin
  14. I think it's intentional, but it looks like your comparison is for the same artist and for the same era, but its just that their work is one comic (with Spidey no surprise there) is more sought after than others, so while $19K gets a splash or pinup in another title, it's only a panel in the comic with Spidey. I think for most of us, all things being equal (same artist, title and price) we would pick a splash over a panel page. That's why splash pages are valued more than panel pages since it is more sought after. In your example, my pick wouldn't be valid. I would only buy from a comic that interest me, so I wouldn't buy a splash for another title I didn't read because its the same price for a panel from a comic I did read. Malvin
  15. I just uploaded a full team Squadron Supreme pinup that was used in the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe Master's Edition This was published a few years after the original miniseries but to me still a great representative splash/pinup from it! CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  16. At the end of the day, it's about supply and demand (no surprise there). If prices go down, it's because there is more supply or less demand. Now in some cases there was some hype/event that died down. I think most of us OA veterans are immune to gimmicks such as identify reveals or someone dying. I still see people asking a ton for such pages. Not sure if anyone paid them, but often prices go down once the hype dies down (or the event is retconned) One broad example comes to mind. What does everyone think of Identity Crisis today? I read it when it came out and I thought it wasn't bad. I didn't understand the hype and how everyone was raving about it. I don't think it stood the test of time. Malvin

  18. I wonder though, what the consignor tell HA when he consigned it? and did he look at the description and tell them to change? I get that to some high rollers, a page like that is like a $100 page to me, but I always bug comiclink to tweak the descriptions of my $100 pages :P Malvin
  19. I think expecting one of the most often used images in Spidey merchandising to go under the radar is an oxymoron Malvin
  20. The Tim Sale Long Halloween #10 cover seems low at $13K with BP, especially since A+ interiors are $5K+, but I never liked the covers as much as there was not a lot of detail, so maybe it's right. Malvin
  21. agreed, that is insane, there are aspects of our hobby I don't understand.. Malvin
  22. I would have expected some comments on this thread by now. People are either still glued to bidding or not online at all! Any thoughts on the Frazetta BSG not selling? Any other thoughts? Malvin
  23. and don't forget the Frank Miller piece currently at $3,456 http://www.britcomicsart.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=15190 Who would bid such an odd number...someone should bid $3,456.78!
