  1. I probably have more, but 2 come to mind: JR JR Thor vs. Thanos Cover - I was advised by a fellow collector to ask the Editor, he was half guessing but thinks after this was inked, JR JR didn't like it and re-drew it, which became the published cover. Khoi Pham Avengers (Chaos War) Full splash - I don't know why this was unused. Seem to have enough similarities to the published cover to make me wonder if they used this and photoshopped the rest. Most collectors know, I would caution that you make sure you get un-used pieces from the period. Not a new sketch that someone slapped on some trade dress to call it "first cover" or worse, a piece by a totally different artist that you call an unused version. Malvin
  2. Heh, they fixed it pretty fast when I pointed it out though - comiclink link to Infinity War page Malvin
  3. yes. Just put it flat under books and other heavy things afterwards. That's all you can really do. Malvin
  4. Oh yeah, my consignments (the McCrea Hitman cover that Grapeape posted on, as well as a couple of other items) just recently arrived so they just scanned and posted it. They were going to add the description later. I did forward Grapeape's awesome write-up to get them started. Malvin
  5. My approach is very similar to yours. I don't really have "grails". There are things that I like but I rarely seek them out. I only buy things that are actively for sale. I buy if they check my boxes (I like it, the price is ok, etc.).and if a must have does come along then I find a way to buy it if my art funds are depleted (like they are now) and selling stuff I previously bought at a lower price helps. Psychologically, it also helps me pay for more something if I have a similar thing to offset it. E.g. a splash will cost $5K, which normally I would say is too much, but if I have a similar panel page that I can sell for $2K, telling myself that I'm only spending an extra $3K to get a splash helps me pull the trigger. Malvin
  6. I'm the consignor! Feel free to PM me a write-up I can forward :P They also labelled my Ron Lim Infinity War page as an Infinity Gauntlet page. I'll tell them at the same time. Malvin

  10. I don't see an issue, but I usually keep taped DPS together, even in a sleeve/portfolio. Can you put it together and you can see both sides? not at once of course. Malvin
  11. That's the one that's up? I feel so much better. Guess I won't miss out! :P Malvin
  12. No experience but acid free acetate makes sense. No different than an overlay of text bubbles Malvin
  13. That Simon Bisley Lobo Issue 1 cover was pointed out to me by a couple of fellow collectors (and boardies). It definitely checks all the boxes for me. But even if I didn't wipe out my Art war chest during the last HA and Clink auctions, I would find is psychologically hard to spend that much on one piece (even though its flawed logic since adding up all my purchases will easily surpass it) Malvin
  14. Hi Folks, I have another lucky 13 pieces of items consigned with comiclink. The last round of HA and Comiclink auctions wiped out my art budget (and then some, proceeds from this auction will pay for past Clink purchases) so help me rebuild my war chest :P The items and current prices 1. Larry Stroman Wolverine Commission - $60 2. Michael Turner Lara Croft from Tomb Raider Sketch - $185 3. Detective 483 page by Kurt Schaffenberger and Dave Hunt -$40 4. 15. I just uploaded a Mike Zeck Batman "prelim" to CAF. I think this prelim is tighter than finished pieces by others CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  16. Oh yeah, the other thing is the page has not sold. Like many of the attempted flips listed here. I once bought a page for $10 and I consigned it to CLINK and it went for $500+ Malvin
  17. heh, that gene actually runs in my family! Malvin
  18. That's true. I don't know, maybe she was cursed with pig hands in that issue I like Anacleto and want to replace and example I sold a fe years ago but since I never read that comic (and likely never will) I won't have the context and I won't buy that art (and therefore it is a turn off) Malvin
  19. agreed. but I am like that too, once I see a flaw I can't unseen it, and those pig hands make me shudder. Malvin
  20. I just uploaded a couple of Fury pages (original Ennis miniseries) with Wendel! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1650770 https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1650769 I also have this older Wendel page while we are on that topic: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=753063 Thanks for looking Malvin
  21. don't worry, I'll outbid your $1 bid with a $2 bid. Malvin
  22. I'm being nitpicky but item 2 doesn't make sense. I presume in this example you saw it at $5K and didn't want to buy it for 6 years. So even if it goes to $5,001, $8,000 or $1M, you weren't turned off. You were turned off at $5k! Sorry, just being nitpicky as I said. Malvin
  23. I don't participate in this thread much since I think what someone does with their art is their business. I also buy and sell all the time as many of you know (I do auction most of it though). I tell my wife doing that helps me self fund the hobby, although I am sure she is aware that my buying and selling isn't going to make up for the 5 figures I spent on HA and Clink the last couple of weeks Anyways, I bought a Punisher turnaround by an unknown artist on ebay for 10 bucks a few years ago. I bought other things from the seller so my cost really was only $10. It was solidly done so I thought it was a pro and not an amateur drawing but I couldn't figure it out. I even showed Bob McLeod when he was at a local con in the hopes he could ID the penciller. All he could conclude was that the penciller was likely a Pro and not an amateur (but not a good one he said). I gave up trying to identify it and sold it during comicart live for $17. Now it's available as a Steve Dillon Punisher piece for $1,500 CAF Link Malvin
  24. true, you never explicitly said deal, although "once the OA world get's wind of this and it will be gone fast" implies it's a deal. And talk is cheap, all that "praise" is just talk unless they buy it. and unless he lowers his price, it will be sitting there for a long long time. Malvin
