  1. I do have a rosy view of the book. The Allentown Captain America #1 is one of the 5-10 coolest individual books in the hobby (and features the first appearance of one of the most important characters in pop culture. I think it transcends the relative census story.
  2. I think it's worth a boatload. It's just already doubled in my mind over the past few years. I had it as a $1,000,000 book and now it's a $2,000,000- $2,500,000 book. Again, who knows who would be there to bid on it, but it's one of the best books in the hobby.
  3. I don't think either would do it today. I think both would be seven figure books, but not 3.5 million dollar books. I don't know that the Detective Comics #27 CGC 9.2 is tied up forever. I don't know anything about that book at all, to be honest. That would be a new record.

  5. As a reminder of how crazy it was... it was just over a month spread between the three sales. Action Comics #1 CGC 8.5 on 2010/03/29 at ComicConnect $1,500,000.00 Detective Comics 27 8.0 on 2010/02/25 at Heritage $1,075,000.00 Action Comics 1 Kansas City 8.0 on 2010/02/22 at ComicConnect
  6. It was an awesome game of one-upsmanship between ComicConnect and Heritage.
  7. Also, has Heitage ever had a bidding outage like this? I don't remember in comics but maybe in another category? I've seen it in this instance and at comiclink (I was one of the disappointed folks at that time)
  8. 1. I agree 2. The weirdness of restarting the auction didn't help matters
  9. And there it is... Not much movement today after the weirdness of last night. Still, a strong result.

  11. Heritage would be at 50,000 at that point? (Rob runs off to look)
  12. This was a manual denial of service attack. Comic book excitement! Refresh faster!
  13. I need to post the new data file to the site (I'm behind on a few updates), but my current list is Action Comics 1 9.0 on 2014/08/24 eBay $3,207,852.00 Action Comics 1 9.0 on 2011/11/30 ComicConnect $2,161,000.00 Action Comics 1 8.5 TOMORROW Action Comics 1 8.5 on 2010/03/29 ComicConnect $1,500,000.00 Amazing Fantasy 15 9.6 on 2011/03/09 ComicConnect $1,100,000.00 Detective Comics 27 8.0 on 2010/02/25 Heritage $1,075,000.00 Action Comics 1 Kansas City 8.0 on 2010/02/22 ComicConnect $1,000,000.00 Action Comics 1 5.5 on 2016/08/04 Heritage $956,000.00 All Star Comics 8 9.4 on 2017/08/27 eBay $936,223.00 Action Comics 1 5.0 on 2018/03/20 ComicConnect $815,000.00 Detective Comics 27 Rockford 6.0 on 2018/03/21 ComicConnect $732,000.00
  14. Three books on ebay! It's like that! Booster Gold #1 (Feb 1986, DC) CGC 9.4 New X-Men #128 ([Late] August 2002, Marvel) CGC 9.6 StormWatch #4 (Feb 1998, Image) CGC 9.6 1st Midnighter and Apollo
  15. Judging colors/preservation is tough from scans. These scans are from two different planets, so I wouldn't use the side-by-side to compare preservation. To my eye, structurally, the 8.5 presents better. Obviously, you can't see the biggest defect, the staples, but the rest of the book is outrageous. The spine and corners are stronger than the 9.0.
