  2. I hope it went into a collection, but. yeah, any dealer with enough cash to sit on $570,000 of inventory in one book, would probably do well in the not-so-long-term.
  3. I thought it had a chance at over 700,000-750,000. I think 600-650,000 would have been a solid result.
  4. I think this is a particular case. If I were a collector in the market for a Detective 27 in this grade range, I'd be moving mountains to get the CC copy and I'd be in on this at a much lower relative level.
  5. I thought it could get in the top ten of public sales, which is around $750,000. Having the CC copy going on right now doesn't help.

  7. Thanks! I'm looking, specifically, for the ad with his daughter, that ran for many years in Overstreet. I have a full run of Overstreet, they're just in storage and I was looking to post that specific ad in a little RIP post tomorrow since it was so memorable to me.
  8. Does anyone have a scan of the old comic heaven ad handy?
  9. I only met him once and it was one of the most memorable conversations I've ever had. He was one of the most passionate and knowledgeable collectors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and I really appreciated how open he was with regards to his collection and experience in the hobby.
  10. If it's a book that exists in any numbers at all in 9.8 it's worth just buying the CGC 9.8 and skipping the pain of buying off of eBay looking for a gem. I can say from bitter experience that it can take dozens of eBay copies to get a 9.8*. on anything other than band new books (< 1 year old, I've found.) If you're lucky you can get a lot of 9.2s and 9.4s but 9.8s are tough to come by. *Stormwatch 37 is probably the greatest example for me.
  11. Fun CGC listings on eBay this week. For sure!
