  1. Saw the movie last night and thoroughly enjoyed it with my wife, daughter and son-in-law. All of us enjoyed it and I would pay to see it again. Not sure why people are not giving it a chance and checking it out other than they needed big time positive reviews, like with WW, to give them courage to spend the money. While I rank WW higher, I would put this one above way above BvS. It's more enjoyable, funnier and overall had a better tone than some of the other DC movies. Here a few observations.
  2. sTrailer looks excellent and the humor makes me laugh. While I would never dream this characterization up for the Flash (Kid Flash maybe), I like it and think Ezra may come out of this the big winner. DC is in a tough position following the huge success of Marvel and the Avengers movies, but I like their direction with this trailer. I was not a fan of the BvS movie as its two heroes that are not supposed to jump to conclusions do jump to conclusions and act out of character. That's not the Batman and Superman that I grew up with. However, it looks like this movie gets us back into hero mode with at least Batman and I'm ready for some kick butt action and more Gal Gadot is always a very, very good thing. Favorite scene: The scene of Batman in the batmobile where WW takes out a few flying creatures and then the Flash runs by... simply incredible. Dude, that is the JLA coming together. Can't wait!
  3. For me, there have been a LOT of good superhero movies that I have watched numerous times. However a few stand out as the best of the best. All of them in some way changed the way I viewed superhero movies and have/will be rewatched many times. Wonder Woman has joined that list. Story was solid, acting top notch and the portrayal of WW by Gal was perfect. The combination of her beauty, determination and innocence was impactful. I know this generation likes the shady, dark superheroes, but dang it's refreshing to get one that's not. I'm also a sucker for period movies, especially WWI and WWII eras. Maybe it's the fact that I have 3 daughters and I felt this was a portrayal that they would enjoy and possibly admire for the right reasons. Whatever it is, its a keeper.
  4. This does not surprise me. I traveled to Brazil in June for a work assignment and on the last day I was having lunch with my Brazilian counterparts. During the conversations, I was asking a lady how she came to speak such good English. Her response was that she loved American movies and picked up the language from watching them. Young Brazilians enjoy American culture.
  5. No doubt it worked and Tom Cruise worked and hooked me on the series. It's been one of my favorites since it came out. However, as good as MI was, MI2 was bad. It was beyond bad. Didn't like giving up hard earned money to watch Tom Cruise get his extreme sports jollies on while making a spy thriller. Directing was horrible.
  6. Ahhh... I can see that being a problem. Even though I watched some of the original tv series, I wasn't overly familiar with the cast of characters so I missed that aspect of the movie. That would be a crappy way to treat the main character.
  7. For some reason, I rewatched the first Mission Impossible movie a few days ago. It's a really, really good film. Cruise was perfect for it. Maybe I will it a shot on dvd.
  8. movies at expensive ticket prices equals disaster. The Mummy movie, for me, is the poster child for a movie that never stood a chance. I loved the Mummy movie with Brendan Fraser so a reboot gets my attention... quickly. However, when I saw the trailer last year, it completely turned me off from wanting to see it. It was way too heavy on the CGI and it looked like it was going to be more explosions than story. Tom Cruise, while usually an actor that does movies I like, may have been a liability in this one as he didn't seem to fit the role. I hope we are getting to the end of overdone CGI.
  9. Just got back from WW with my wife and we really enjoyed it. Its the best of the new DC movies so far - better than BvS and Suicide Squad. I now have hope that the Justice Leauge will be worth the wait.
  10. My personal list of most desirable GA: 1. Action Comics 1 2. Detective Comics 27 3. Marvel Comics 1 4. Captain America 1 5. Batman 1 6. Flash Comics 1 7. Adventure Comics 40 8. More Fun Comics 52 9. All American 16 10. Superman 1
  11. Good report and thanks for posting. Pictures are solid and I like your taste in comics.
  12. The Man in the High Castle I just stumbled onto this series in Amazon Video, so I started with Season 1 and have made it to episode 6. All I can say is, "WOW". I am completely tense watching each episode. May be the best thing since LOST, at least for me. I don't want any spoilers but want to know if there are others watching and how do you like it?
  13. Comments on the effect of Rotten Tomatoes on BvS http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/03/brett-ratner-rotten-tomatoes
  14. I will go with my favorites and it will mostly be Bronze Age : Jim Aparo - Adventure Comics 431 - 440 : Such an incredible short run of awesomeness Neal Adams - Detective Comics 395: For me, he will always be the definitive Batman artist Mike Grell - Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes (I know his Warlord may get more votes, but I like the Superboy run) George Perez - The New Teen Titans
  15. Interesting that someone thought the soundtrack was a highlight of the movie. I thought it was overdone, overbearing, and at times it became a nuisance at some points in the movie. Looks like I may need to listen to the music separate from the movie and see how it strikes me. Thanks for posting a few of the soundtracks!
  16. Bought the Blu-ray and watched it last night with the wife and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like Cumberbatch as Doc and look forward to a sequel. Thought the ending was a tad weak, like it was missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on what it was missing. If Marvel does one thing right, in all of their movies, it's the casting of their main heroes. The actors are not always a great knockoff of the comic characters that we grew up with, but we do get great actors that look close to the comics and make the characters believable. I will be rewatching this. Well done Marvel.
  17. Excellent episode. I don't get to watch Flash every week, but when I do it never disappoints. Great series.
  18. Since the move to this new formatted board, I cannot see the images on the first pages of the thread. Anyone else having this problem? Any idea how to fix it?
  19. bronze_rules does it again. Dude has the superhero power of memory for stories. Incredible!
  20. It's a very good movie. By all means see it in the theater.
  21. DC bronze horror rules! Nice collection of books.
  22. Well, after swearing I would not own copy of this movie after watching it in the theater, my sweet wife bought a copy for me as a surprise early birthday gift. Boy was I surprised. So, I gave the movie another watch last night and here are some thoughts: First, kudos to Bosco685 and Davenport for their efforts of explaining the movie in a more favorable light and fighting an uphill battle to sway popular opinion. That's not an easy task as many of us were heavily disgusted leaving the theater. It did help watching the movie with their perspective. 1. It's a better movie the second time around, but still not as enjoyable of a watch as any of the Marvel movies, with a few exceptions. My opinion is improved but I will always be bothered by DC giving us this version of these guys so early in the series. 2. I will say I have warmed up to what this movie was trying to do, which is not to be a Marvel movie and give us something different. It is a thought provoking movie and is more than eye candy and action with good depth to what is going on in both heroes' stories, especially Batman. 3. Still had the nagging feeling that while the story being told by Snyder is good, it isn't the story that I think most of us want at this point. 4. The Batman scene in the warehouse where he takes on Luthor's henchmen is still the best part of the movie. All out action and in that moment, Affleck IS Batman. If DC could capture the feel of that moment, without the killing, and expand on it, they could crush it. Give us more of that and don't make getting there so dark. 5. Still think production value is top notch, acting is top notch but the choppiness of the story still makes it tough to follow sometimes. Alfred is the real gem in this movie. 6. Eisenberg's Luthor is more annoying than ever. Why is it so hard to get this villain right? I think I like him better than Kevin Spacey's version, but not by much. However, I think I understand his motivation better. 7. Gal Gadot may be better appreciated second time around, especially the fight scene. She is going to be incredible as WW in her own movie. I also like the scenes with her and Bruce. Give us more of that and the next movie will much better. 8. The special features in the blu ray are almost worth the price of the dvd. I really like the interviews with the producers, directors and Geoff Johns as they move through the various characters in the Justice League. Overall, it's a bit more tolerable and I understand where they were going with this movie better, but dang it, I don't think it rates close to the last 2 Capt. America movies for total enjoyment. DC has got to find a way to make these things more enjoyable and give us more of the classic feel of the characters.
  23. I agree it was better, but certain things still needed to be fixed. I'm still a little confused why the Flash in the Justice League movie looks different than B vs S, hair, goatee and all. I prefer his look in Justice League compared to B vs S, just confused why there was no continuity. Some things in B vs S are still a little confusing if you are not a comic book fan or have friends who are. Captain America Civil War did not have that problem and is now my new gold standard in which to compare other super hero films to. I think we should let Ax take this one... I know they are the same actor. Just not sure why they chose to physically portray him that way in B vs S. As mentioned I liked how they physically portrayed him in the Justice League trailer. Hippie that's a good one! I was thinking more hipster. My guess would be he chose to change his image when he became the Flash. Long hair isn't going to sit well under that "helmet". The metahuman video of Barry Allen in the grocery store looked to be him as a teenager. From the Justice League teaser and the changes in his looks (cleancut and more weight), this is him a few years later. Wouldn't you think? Agreed- that's what I thought.
  24. Rocketeer is one of my top 10 favorite movies. Not sure whether I am on board with this. If they get Joe Johnson to direct the movie, it may have a chance.
