  1. Am I the only one who noticed he said Suicide Squid movie?
  2. I remember having one of those Creeple Peeple creation kits as a kid. You would take bottles of liquid and pour them into the molds, bake them and make all sorts of bugs and creatures.
  3. I just picked up this Action Comics #1 reprint up from an eBay seller. He had it advertised as the 1987 Nestle Quik reprint but I'm like "No, this one has the 10 cent cover price whereas the 1987 reprint is supposed to have the 50 cent cover price." So I'm thinking this is the 1983 Nestle Quik reprint. But then something totally threw me off. In the indicia, it states "The inside front cover, Copyright 1983 DC Comics Inc. All Rights Reserved. The back cover, Copyright 1987 Nestle Foods Corporation. All Rights Reserved." So if it's truly a 1983 reprint, then why is there a 1987 date in it??? Does that mean the BIP Comics "Guide to Action Comics #1 reprints" is wrong?
  4. CGC fails to properly label SO many of these Canadian Price Editions and other price variants. I know when I send one in I note it on the submission form but that still doesn't guarantee it will get on the label. Maybe a large Post-it note on the bag would help but then again the bag probably doesn't get past the initial receiving point at CGC.
  5. DVT to his 2-year old son: "What do you like better? This Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 9.8, 1st appearance of the Punisher or this Strawberry Shortcake #1 I just picked up from Greggy?" 2-year old son: "I want the Strawberry Shortcake! I want the Strawberry Shortcake!"
  6. Very nice copy too! The colors just pop on this one.
  7. Two great books to have MJ inserts in. (thumbs u
  8. Sweet copy Sqeggs. I just picked up 32 different Four Colors today from an LCS. Here are the issue numbers: 216, 264, 280, 297 327, 333, 338, 341 432 569, 598 624, 650 739, 749, 757, 767 808, 859, 891 997 1007, 1072, 1092 1144, 1145, 1153, 1178, 1179 1271 1301, 1304 Nothing high grade - most are in the 2.0 to 4.0 range with a few in the 6.0 vicinity. Let me know if any of you need any of these to fill in your runs.
  9. Refreshing this today if nobody from the UK saw it over the weekend.
  10. Damn guys! You've been picking up some really great books lately! Keep it up (just save some for the rest of us)!
  11. Well, at least you got a 9.2 and a 9.6 back. It would have been extremely boring if you had received all 9.8s.
  12. No posts in here for a loooong time so it's time for a revival. I just finished going through all of my Whitman DC variants and I have a number of duplicates that I would be interested in trading for other Whitman DCs that I don't have. Some are low to mid-grade and some are higher grade. I will keep my highest graded copy but all others are available for possible trade. Here is my list of duplicates and their quantities: Batman #307 (1) Brave and the Bold #146 (3), #151 (2) DC Comics Presents #2 (1), #15 (1) Justice League of America #160 (1) Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #244 (1), #245 (1), #246 (2), #247 (3), #248 (2), #251 (2) Super Friends #14 (1) Superman #323 (1), #325 (2), #330 (2), #335 (1), #336 (1) Wonder Woman #251 (1), #252 (1) Obviously, the list of DC Whitman variants I don't have is a lengthy one (over 100), so if you see anything here you need and have some to trade just let me know what you're interested in and what you have for trade. If you're just interested in buying outright maybe we can work a deal on those also.
  13. Anybody from the UK watching this thread? Just received an e-mail from AuctionZip about upcoming comic related auctions and there's a 54 book lot of 1970s Marvel and DC pence books in an August 26 auction (next Wednesday) in Beeston, Might be a gem or two in there....
  14. Yes what Kav said. Keep at it until you get the right person. If it is in ebay message system that they wanted a return straight away might look dubious to them. What he said. Definitely don't give up on the first try. Keep pestering them until they understand what really happened.
  15. So I should feel lucky that I have a DCCP #12 Whitman variant? I also have two #2s and a #3. The Action Comics, Brave and Bold, Superboy and Superman Whitman variants have been the easiest for me to find so far.
  16. My thoughts on this are: 1) He's agreed to a price, he pays that price. 2) It's a sad day when the prices on eBay compare favorably to the prices on the boards. Had a similar situation brought up to me lately by a local collector/friend of mine but as a seller and not as a buyer. Says he was at a guy's house lately, picked up a few books, made an offer on them and the guy readily accepted. Apparently, a few days later the seller calls him (they knew each other previous to this sale) and says "Hey, I think I should have received more for those books than you paid me and feel like you took advantage of me." HUH? Hey buddy, nobody was holding a gun to your head when he made you the offer. You didn't have to accept and if you felt they worth more you should have asked for more. It's not the buyer's responsibility to make sure you know current prices for stuff. And before one of you throws in the unknowing old man card, the seller is a fairly big collector who should know his stuff but apparently didn't in this particular situation. That is comedy gold. Someone did that to me once over a trade. They felt that I had gotten the better end of the deal and wanted a trade back. The difference is we were both 10 at the time. At least yours was more age appropriate.

  18. Looks like it's already been pulled.
  19. Great book. I've been really lucky lately with the 75 cent Canadian price variants. I was recently going through my Star Wars books and noticed I not only have the Star Wars: Return of the Jedi regular 60 cent set (1 thru 4) but also have the complete 75 cent set as well. Then last week I was looking up prices on eBay for some early New Mutants issues and grabbed a cheap lot of 7 thru 10 all in NM/NM+ condition that were all 75 centers as well. Got the BIN lot for $3.00 (under $10 shipped). (thumbs u
  20. The one who really pisses me off is eBay seller sharpchoice.com - Mr. "Butchered Mess" who constantly uses the words DOUBLE COVER in ALL of his listings although very few of them (if any) actually have a double cover. He uses the double cover wording to guide potential buyers to his miscut, miswrapped butchered messes of comic books. Apparently, eBay sees nothing wrong with this as they continue to allow him to list this way.
