  1. That would be the one Sean. So make that 4 people with no book received.
  2. Absolutely. This is even more heinous than the normal type of failed transaction. ...... oddly enough, I just realized that I had neglected to mail out a charity book from quite a while back..... I contacted the buyer, apologizing profusely, and it turned out he had forgotten all about it. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u That's because you're a good man Jimbo. I, unfortunately, am the buyer of a donated book but I don't know who the donator is. I've attempted to contact the charity thread coordinator a number of times through both PMs and through his e-mail (Paypal) address and he hasn't read the PMs nor responded to e-mails. And it's been 3 weeks since I paid for the book. I'm waiting for the 30 days before nomination. There's also one other boardie who hasn't received his book either. In both his case and mine, I don't think the donators even know the books are paid for.
  3. Our address is on NW 119th Street. We quite often have received mail for the same house number on NW 118th Street. If we do I just drive over and place them in the correct mailbox.
  4. Have you ever heard of somebody nominating someone for the PL for not supplying donated books (paid for by the buyer) from a charity thread? That will probably happen in about 1 week unless I hear something from the charity thread coordinator.
  5. Dude, I am sorry that you had to go through this. I have been through similar situations where they delivered somewhere else, but says delivered to me. The driver says they did, but didn't and the post office just says that once it is delivered there is nothing they can do about it. They are a no fault company and take no responsibility for their shoddy work ethics. I came so close to picketing my post office to let people know that this post office has drivers that miss deliver and crushes packages to make them fit in the mail boxes. Hopefully you find your comics. I am holding out hope. Checked the tracking again today and apparently my report to the USPS about misdelivered mail prompted something. Now it has a new entry from today: PACKAGE RESEARCH CASE CREATED Jun-11-15, 02:21 AM, PHOENIX 85044 Of course there is also a new entry with the same delivery time stamp repeating that the item was delivered/at mailbox in the same all caps as this message. Who knows. I left a little note inside my mailbox for whoever is delivering to me today (hopefully my favorite and most consistent/friendly/reliable lady carrier). I wonder if this is similar to locating a missing child where the quicker you take action(i.e. sooner you realize something is wrong), the more likely you are to locate the missing. The USPS screws up so much they probably have a Cold Case Department where the background music is from the 1960s.
  6. Two weeks on, two weeks off. Two weeks on, two weeks off.....
  7. Maybe Caytlin Jenner will try to win the decathlon in the Senior Olympics and enter the Guinness book of world records.
  8. Consider blocking....or at least avoiding....alcamler as a seller. Now don't get me wrong. I got a great buy ($.99) on a Suicide Squad #11 (1st Antiphon) and he only charged $2.00 for shipping. When I received the comic today I found out WHY it was only $2.00. When I pulled the envelope out of our mailbox, I could immediately tell there was no protection (envelope was flimsy). I took pictures as I opened the package. The comic was placed in one of those clear paper holders that go in a notebook and placed in a large manila envelope. That's it. No comic backing board, no cardboard sandwich. Not even a "DO NOT BEND" anywhere on the package. I did send him an eBay message basically instructing him on how to avoid any problems with future buyers. I also gave the seller the benefit of the doubt and left him positive feedback although I did say in my comment that the packaging did need improvement. I still got a great deal on the comic and it arrived reasonably intact. But what if it was a $100 or $200 comic - would it have been shipped the same way?
  9. So what happens next? I would hope with someone signing you are protected. Turn this one over to eBay. Explain that it was delivered and signed for. Ebay (the dolts that they are) will probably refund the guy but it shouldn't come out of your pocket. And don't send this d-bag anything else.
  10. Just had a non-payment issue with him too and now blocked. He was on the boards as clobberintime. Flake. I'd report his sorry butt to eBay too. His response was totally uncalled for.
  11. God I hope not Her Facebook page says she's worked at CGC from 2002 to present. So I guess you guys are right. (thumbs u I last saw her in Dallas in 2012.
  12. +1 He wanted an inch and you gave him a mile. You went through a lot more than I would have. Out him so he can go on the Probation List where the d-bag belongs. BTW, Gemma's back with CGC?
  13. Scratch Conan the Barbarian #47 from this list. After looking at a copy I have, I realized this book was published in 1975 - 3 years before the Marvel Pizzazz magazine and inserts were even published. I got this issue number from the mycomicshop Pizzazz list and I've notified them it should be removed. This issue DID have a Marvel subscription insert in it like the one below (my copy has one in it): I also just realized this morning I have another book with a Marvel Pizzazz insert in it. I was looking through some of my slabs to see what I might sell when I came across this one: I completely forgot that had the Pizzazz insert in it. Anybody else think of any other books that have the Marvel Pizzazz insert in them? A couple of days ago I did some research and looked at the copies I had of all of the other Marvel titles that were also published during the Jan.-April 1978 time frame and couldn't find any others that had the insert in them.
  14. Looks like 2010dougheidibooks was like you wish had done, since he says in response that he cancelled the sale right after it was made. Dude is either the unluckiest person on the planet when it comes to online purchases, or quite the thief. In reviewing their feedback, the negatives left for sellers seems to come in cycles/waves. It seems like he buys a bunch of books and receives all of them then he decides to act like most were never received so he can use all of the refunds to buy even more books. Of course all of the second wave of books ARE received. Sounds like he's using the system to his advantage and ends up basically paying half price for all of his purchases. I'm equally surprised he hasn't been booted yet.
  15. Looks like a very nice copy. Definitely slab it if that's what you want to do. (thumbs u
  16. You're lucky to be finding quality books. Around here, I have to deflate about one guy a week on kijiji (craigslist) who thinks they can sell 2000 issues of drek for $5000. I think everyone who finds something here will agree that most of the searches reveal/reward very little. These successes are one out every 10 etc. But when they do, they are pretty exciting and make you get up at 3am every weekend or drive that extra mile etc. FYI - I started a journal about a recent collection of independent/weird/copper/modern collection I purchased. Since some of the collection has a little more eclectic stuff I thought it would be better to have it's own journal thread as I post some of the more unusual stuff. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=379662&Number=8630394#Post8630394 I agree Hector. To many times I have gone to a yard sale that listed comic books to either be 10-20 drek books, or even worse, they sold them last night to somebody else. My wofe thinks me crazy to get up early to drive a distance, but I am hoping she keeps looking at the rewards I can find, like the batch I got with the ASM 300. We drove to Packwood last Sat. She fought me on that one, but it yelded the Giant Size UXMN #1. If you aren't out there putting in the work you won't find anything. When I lived in Illinois, a guy I worked with used to tell me "You could into a pile of chit and come out smelling like a bed of roses" when it came to some of the comics I came across in my dealings. And my answer to him every time was "No, I WORK at it." Constantly checking newspaper ads, auction ads, online auctions, eBay, flea markets, estate sales, garage sales....wherever I could find them. Many people just don't understand how time consuming this stuff is - especially when you're doing all of it yourself.
  17. I tried to track them down several years ago. The address on the order form went back to the LA office of the Rabbinical Council of California. I looked at tax records but couldn't find any info on a parent company. But that was a long time ago... I found a BBB review of Mark Jewelers from 2011 on the internet that had a phone number with it. I just called that number and got the "this number is disconnected or is no longer in service" recording. Facebook doesn't turn up anything either. So hard to tell if they're still in business or not.
  18. Great finds and what a great variety of items we're seeing in this thread. Keep 'em coming guys!
  19. Your list got me to pondering which of these I might have. I found 3: The Prince and the Pauper #01-654-207 (1322) Beany and Cecil #01-057-209 (1340) Jungle War Stories #01-384-209 (1346) The Prince and the Pauper is a mid-grade copy and the Jungle War Stories is low grade (cover detached). The Beany and Cecil is higher grade though....I'd say in the VF range.
  20. I've been grabbing high grade copies of Static #1 on the cheap for the last 6-9 months. I probably have 20-25 copies both unbagged and bagged. (thumbs u
