  1. So you did pick up a ASM Ann. #3, congrats That one presents very nicely. (thumbs u So the question is; Are you still looking for a 9.4/9.6 copy??? If you are, I wouldn't mind picking up this copy if you sell it.
  2. Bueatuifull book--nice and shiny especially the whites. SLR Yes, If you purchase a white cover Spidey book, it's essential that the Whites are actually WHITE!!! (thumbs u
  3. Great page Roy Nobody in comics can capture the female form as well as Baker did. I'd love to own an Original Baker piece, especially a South Sea girl splash page. Anyway, congrats on a beautiful comic page by one of greatest artists in comics.
  4. my pleasure, buddy. and since i don't want to waste a minute of my brush with being influential, let me tell you that the little group below, which i forgot i had 'til i went to the box for the spideys, is TERRIFIC. the iron man v. subby fight rages over three books and two titles. 'tho not noted, the tta 82 is iron man's first x-over outside of tos and the avengers. very late in the marvel age of comics for that x-over to finally take place. outside of the spideys i showed, and ff 48-50, my favorite 3 book story from my formative years of collecting. You could add TOS 69-71 also as a great little trio too (1st Titanium man).
  5. OK...too many GA posters here...If this continues the SA Boardies will think we are preparing a coup on their SA threads... Nice books Billy, I'm with you, grew up on SA Marvels too, and that story arc is top-notch.
  6. Both Annuals, the FF 4 and especially this one (Avengers...must be a 9.6) are stunning. wow!!!
  7. Nice fresh looking copy This book is so tough to find because of that black spine, I no longer own a copy, but I'd LOVE to find a decent copy (6.0 or better) with a nice spine. Guess I'm just dreaming though. Nice whites on that one It reminds me of the Twin Cities ASM Annual #1 which I passed on a few months ago because of the tape on the spine. I've changed my mind now on those now, and will try to pick them up if they come back to the marketplace again. Except for the tape, it was a stunning copy.
  8. As usual Joe, we're on the same page. What pedigree is that? I bought this the other day along with the TOS 40, this copy at VF Guide. While it's obviously not near NM like my FF Annual 4 and FF Annual 5, I'd rather fork over $600 for this raw white-pager than $2,600(?) for a 9.4 slab. I totally respect the uber-high grade SA books (try finding a 9.8 GA comic), they look just fabulous, yet books like the TOS 40, your FF Annual 2, Trev's TOS 57, and this FF1 Annual are just plain fun to have without having to break the bank. Marvel Fever, indeed... this book presents better in hand than my poor photographic skills can show. The same pedigree as this one, which is another I just picked up (Twin Cities), but is not in hand yet. The Twin Cities Marvel Annuals ALL have tape on the spines from 1962-1964. After that Gary didn't add tape to the Annuals, I have a couple later ones also with no tape (I sold the ASM Annual #2 to a Boardie). Most all that I am aware of have WHITE pages. Edit: By the way i agree that a nice VF copy is good enough, even though we'd all love to have 9.4 or better copies. If I have to spend upwards of $2000.00 I'd rather purchase GA. Your copy is a nice copy...especially for the price. (thumbs u
  9. If that is a 4.0 copy, The Whites on this cover just stand out....Wow!!! Exactly why you should buy the book, not the label. Well done!!!!
  10. Here is an example of a SA book that I bought recently, that is not HG but a book I enjoy quite a lot, and a pedigree to boot. It has WHITE/WHITE pages which this ped is also known for. (thumbs u If looking closely, you can see a noticable flaw (some tape on the spine), but otherwise it is a very nice copy. I prefer to buy Peds now when purchasing SA books. With so many SA books available, I'd like something to make them a little more unique, and the history of the book does that for me. I know the history of this book, and I am the second owner. That means something to me. Of course I understand the tape is a turn-off to most (myself included), but I can live with it, and after all it has been on this book for almost 50 years already, and this book still presents fairly well. I sold a copy of this book last year that was a nice 8.5 OW, and this copy means more to me than that one did. It's a keeper for me, flaws and all. As Steve has already stated, I'd prefer to buy the book, not the label.
  11. You answered your own question...buy the book, not the label. (thumbs u This book by the way, is very presentable, and that i think is what matters the most to me. As you mentioned you can take it out and enjoy this puppy any time you want without worrying about being ultra careful. Also, It looks as though you got a great deal at just $400.00...congrats!!!!
  12. Wow!!!! Amazing books being posted here.... JB & Steve....
  13. Thanks everyone... (thumbs u Looking for the other pages, hitting a brick wall. Help!!!!
  14. I usually don't post over here, but I thought I would show my latest Original Art, and see if any "Boardies" have any other pages from this story "The Beast" published in Vampirella #59. I am interested in picking up the other pages to this story by Infantino & Nino. If you own a page please PM me.
  15. Nice, I know I've never seen a copy. Congrats on finding one. (thumbs u
  16. Both are excellent books... (thumbs u I've created a a data base where-by our picks are given a point value. Very simple actually; ex: a #1 ranking receives 20 points, #2 receives 19 points, #20 receives 1 point, etc. Here are the current rankings from Boardies who ranked the covers. #1 AMF 2/5------------------------------72 points #2 AMF 2/10----------------------------70 #3 AMF 2/4------------------------------66 #4 A-Man 22----------------------------62 #5 FP 4/1--------------------------------56 #6 KDF 20-------------------------------46 #7 FP 3/7--------------------------------39 #8 FP 35---------------------------------38 #8 FP 38---------------------------------38 #9 A-Man 7------------------------------34 #10 FP 36-------------------------------28 #11 Arrow 1-----------------------------25 #12 FP 40-------------------------------24 #13 WPS 1------------------------------23 #14 AMF 2/2----------------------------22 #14 DPS 5------------------------------22 #14 KDF 2/7----------------------------22 #15 KDF 10-----------------------------20 #15 KDF 20-----------------------------20 #16 AMF 2/7----------------------------15 #17 DPS 4------------------------------13 #18 AMF 4-------------------------------12 #19 A-Man 6----------------------------11 #20 FP 37-------------------------------10 #20 Star 8-------------------------------10 #21 KDF 9--------------------------------9 #22 KDF 2/7------------------------------8 #22 A-Man 13----------------------------8 #22 Star 13-------------------------------8 #23 FPS 2/7------------------------------7 #23 A-Man 5------------------------------7 #24 KDF 22-------------------------------6 #24 FP 2/2--------------------------------6 #25 KDF 2/6------------------------------5 #25 Comic Pages 3/4-----------------5 #26 FP 2/12------------------------------4 #27 FP 41---------------------------------3 #28 Star Ranger 1----------------------2 #28 Star Ranger Funnnies 17-------2 #28 FPS 5---------------------------------2 #29 KDF 18-------------------------------1 #29 Arrow 3-------------------------------1
  17. Of the Boardies who picked at least a dozen or so covers, these were the covers that Everyone picked on their list (not in any order). Amazing Mystery Funnies 2/4 Amazing Mystery Funnies 2/5 Amazing Mystery Funnies 2/10 Funny Pages 3/7 Funny Pages 4/1 Funny Pages 38 So I guess these would be considered the top 6 covers. Edit: These are the honorable mentions: All tied for 2nd place. (With these, that would create a top ten) Amazing Man 22 Funny Pages 35 Keen Detective Funnies 10 Keen Detective Funnies 20 If you disagree with these as the top covers, Let's see your own list. With enough votes (listings) we can make a more comprehensive listing.
