  1. Regarding Cap_Freak. How much are we actually talking about here? (in terms of money owed or failed transactions.)
  2. Well, if the idea that Swamp Thing #21 is the start of the Copper Age, it doesn't really make sense to start it with Moore's SECOND issue. (They didn't reprint Swamp Thing #20 until this last TPB.)
  3. Alan Moore's first Swamp Thing is #20. "Anatomy Lesson" (Issue #21) is where he redefines Swamp Thing's entire existence. (Blowing all of our minds.) It's really a two-part origin story.
  4. FYI only... maybe I'll bring them back for the next VCC. (I actually have more copies of #33 and #34.) Note: Multiple copies available. The images shown are for reference only. You will receive warehouse, unread copies with more specific grades via PM. Most are 50% off of OSPG. Buy 5 or more Epics and take 10% off! 5. You realize that I had the entire Epic Illustrated Line available (most for far less than $10) during most of the first 8 VCCs right? (I have about 20 magazine boxes of Epic Illustrated.)
  6. From 2006: (A similar problem.) http://www.vampirella.com/mb/index.php?showtopic=115&st=0&p=655entry655 Hey Everyone- this is Jimmy Jay here, of JAY COMPANY, and the website JayCompanyComics.com I apologize for any order mishaps the last several weeks. As Bon pointed out, the Summer Convention season season really took its toll on our small but growing company. Add to this that I'm getting married this week, so there was a ton of family preparation during that time too. And given that JayCompany is a family business, I understand that all of this may have impacted our usually close to perfect customer service. With that said, we will make it a top priority to take care of your order. PLEASE email me directly at JimmyJay39@aol.com or my brother bill at BillJay32@aol.com We again thank you for your business and patience... Your pal- Jimmy S. Jay & JayCompanyComics.com
  7. They seem to have a service problem regarding their website... The owner even has a Blog: http://blog.newsarama.com/2008/12/24/jimmy-s-jays-new-blog-splashing-to-the-top-spot/
  8. They just did the Emerald City ComiCon didn't they? I doubt they're out of business.
  9. Hi Ian, I know this has probably been asked before... but do you scan each comic (the older ones or the rare ones at least) and have them in some sort of digital format for the future?
  10. (I don't usually frequent this thread... I know... I know.) But Ivanko sent me a package today that was so pretty that I had to comment on the beauty of his packing. Very nice job (thumbs u
  11. If that DID happen, it would be unfortunate. I don't think we know when the auction was held though...
  12. Hey.... lots of interest in Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children.... and yet, hardly any in the census. (I own the 9.8 #1. )
  13. In order to get to that, there first would have to be agreement on the actual date/book which ushered in each successive period. And I suspect there is probably already a thread or two arguing the finer point of why this book or that book was the actual beginnning of each respective age. I realize that the defining line between ages is of considerable debate. Maybe it would be easier to do it this way... How many 10 cent books are there? How many published 12 cent books. 15 cent books. 20 cent books, etc.
  14. So is anyone else attempting this monumental task other than the people already trying? As a side note: Does anyone know the relative numbers of total comics for each Age? I.E. How many distinct GA books are there? How many SA books? How many Bronze?
  15. Amazing promos. (And, of course, I've never seen any of these anywhere.) (thumbs u I'm wondering why the licensing division of Warner Bros (or DC Comics) doesn't keep at least one copy of each licensed item. I realize they can't keep every single item ever created (especially bulky toys), but these are pamphlets. Doesn't the legal department go through these licensed items to make sure they're appropriate or meet some sort of standard?
  16. Hi Conan, Welcome to the boards. Nice work on the technical aspects of the buying system. It's the best online system I've come across. (thumbs u
  17. I've had a couple of books downgraded by them when I've sent it in... They give you the option of getting the books back or you authorize the downgrade and the lower trade/price value. Their automated system and buying process is pretty nice actually... You're always able to view the status of your books and trade process electronically.
  18. Well, unfortunately that wasn't the case for me and rarely ever happens. You also don't point out the amount the overcharge on many books (like $100 at one point for the first appearance of Spoiler, and they were paying $1.60 in trade). Also, many CGC books that GPA for $200 are $350 on Lonestar's site. There are extremes both ways and they cancel out IMHO. I don't trade with them if it's not in my favor. It's not rare. It happens ALL the time. They don't force me to trade with them. Also, I tend not to buy ridiculously overpriced books. They're not forcing me to do that either. Not all their books are overpriced. Not all of them are underpriced either. They don't cancel out if you don't let it. I sympathize with your situation though and I hope they make it right. (thumbs u
  19. I trade with Lone Star all the time. It's up front that they offer you a figure for trade and one that is roughly 50% of the trade price for cash. If they ban you, then logically they won't sell you any more items which means that they convert what trade credit you have into the agreed upon exchange rate for cash. I think they should honor their trade credit with you and allow you to make one final purchase, though. However, to say that they've made a profit off your books already is ridiculous. Of course they have and of course they will. That's the entire reason they're buying from you. Someone else has it in their want list or they know they can sell it for more than they buy it from you. What you're neglecting to say is that for certain books, the trade value FAR exceeds what you can buy it for from other venues. For instance, I used to pick up say... Flash: Iron Heights for $2 and sell it to them for $15 in trade. I sold them Spawn #1s for $4.80 in trade. They are NOT robbing you on every trade. Most of my trades are in my favor actually... even for the cash value. (I use the trade value to buy slabbed books off their site... some of which are PRICED BELOW GPA.... so that's another tidbit.) Good luck.
  20. Major League was on the television in the background today and they were passing some Classics Illustrated books around on the team bus.
  21. I've seen these type of auction threads on the Valiant boards and it's hit and miss. The three-day format seems to be more immediate with updates at the end of each day. It'd also probably work better with a lot of books rather than just one. VCC Charity auctions are "live" so to speak... and the idea is to have them while there is a critical mass of board members looking at the VCC Main Hall during the VCC weekend.
  22. Nah, none of the VCCE will sell to me anyway, so that's no angle. Actually, I just like saying "It's a TRAP! "
  23. JC: You realize that this is all a ploy to make you blow your top before the next VCC don't you... Don't fall for it! It's a TRAP!
