  1. No, I sympathize with your situation. I'm selling on eBay right now and while most people pay immediately, I've got a couple of buyers who haven't paid yet (over a week). Perhaps, a photo of the glue sent to Gemma would have given her something to show the actual encapsulator or graders.
  2. By the way, just because someone is showing as "online" does not mean that they are actually sitting at their computer. I use GPAnalysis' CGC app for the iphone so I will register as being online every time it opens. If I read a PM on my iPhone, I frequently don't respond immediately even though it will be marked as read. I also leave my computer on basically 24 hours a day frequently with over a dozen Firefox windows open (and various tabs). Any one of these may be on the CGC boards which will indicate that I'm online. (And if I accidentally leave my browser set to CGC at the office, I'll, of course, also register as being online.)
  3. I think I posted while you were counting... I deleted SILVER from 2003 since he was listed twice. I also added some Bay Area people (and Ex-Bay Area people) who are still around... (Not everyone reads every thread.)

  5. Let's also discuss what seems to have happened. 1) You buy a 9.6 book on 6/25/2009 for what seems like a good price in a slab. 2) You don't get the book for at least a week and a half. (Let's say two weeks.) 3) You notice what you THINK is glue along the bottom and some things (packing materials) ENCAPSULATED within the holder. (Both of which you later find are probably NOT THE SELLER'S FAULT.) You note that the defects are not shown in the scans/photos. 4) You find you do not want the book for whatever reason and the seller agrees to a return/refund. 5) The book gets marked delivered on 7/18/2009 (not 7/19 as indicated in your post since you said he received it YESTERDAY and today is 7/19). Total time elapsed is still less than a month. 6) He hasn't responded yet (after a DAY) so you bring this matter here to a public forum. Personally, I think you just dragged the seller's name through the mud here for no reason.
  6. I started posting in the other thread, and then someone sent a PM stating I should be posting in this thread. What's the difference the two as this one at least has the statement from Arch that it is to discuss things outside the actual Probation List thread, but then there is the "Keep the other threads clean" thread. The point is that if someone reads the other thread (now or in the future), they won't know to go to this one. (You might want to edit your last post in THAT thread pointing to the spot in THIS thread where the discussion continues.)
  7. You posted your problem apparently on TWO SEPARATE THREADS. If I didn't read BOTH threads, I might not have gotten a complete picture of what the problem was and the resolution. Perhaps in the future, you might want to confine it to ONE THREAD.

  9. They don't tell you what level of service... Sheesh. They say "You OWE $4.57 cents because we opened this package, rummaged through it, bent all the comics in it, and then left this piece of paper in it telling you the contents don't qualify as MEDIA MAIL." I assume it's the next cheapest appropriate level.
  10. That is the silliest thing I've heard in a long time - can't believe he'd say that to you with a straight face. I don't disagree... ....but I've heard it multiple times, from multiple USPS clerks. One of the reasons a package can be declared "undeliverable" is "Minimum criteria for mailability not met." A media package that fails inspection does not meet the "mailability" requirement. Its all here right up top and in section 1.5.3. So, the claim by the clerks is valid. In practice, they get sent back to you, sometimes postage due, sometimes not. But the package could be disposed of at the post office's discretion. No, they are treated as an under-stamped letter or package, and get delivered to the recipient with postage due (my brother-in-law works for USPS - I just called & asked him directly about this). This has happened to me. (It was opened and I had to pay the postage to my post man.)
  11. I totally agree with this. Actually, my views on the Dark Phoenix (and Claremont's run in general) have hurt my popularity many times. Don't get me wrong, I like it in a "superheroes meet teen drama meet daily soap opera" way, and I think there are some pretty interesting characters in there, but from a purely technical standpoint, the writing leaves a lot to be desired... And as far as Miller's writing, I don't think we really disagree there. I just wanted to point out (emphasize, if you will) his achievements (and influence) in the storytelling/visual narrative department. (thumbs u Re-reading the Claremont X-men essentials are brutal and I mean brutal. I am now glad that I am not the only one who thinks that, I loved the Uncanny X-men stuff when I young but trying to re-read it now is a chore.Byrne,Cockrum and Smith had a lot to do with his success. What.. you got sick of reading about the "nigh-invulnerable, organic metal" of Colossus... or the phrase "And I you... with all my heart?"
  12. You know what would be cool would be to track down that Issue of CBG where they had a full page advertisement for TMNT. I don't remember what issue that was... but it said there was a small convention (Portsmouth?) they were going to be at. I went there with my dad with something like $15-$20 and I picked up a signed #1 from Eastman and Laird.
  13. I like to drag these out occasionally....
  14. This is an ongoing dispute... and not enough time has passed. (Some people have not even received their boxes yet.)
  15. You average like 70 posts a year.... This little fracas is certainly boosting your post count.
  16. I have to admit I was trying to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, but Filter's account clearly contradicts what was described. I hope this situation is concluded to everyone's satisfaction.
  17. Well, I didn't get all junk. My box was what I expected actually. The photos may have shown more DCs than what was actually in the boxes... but that seems to just be a bad "pull for example" exercise when he was taking the photos.
  18. Someone clearly assembled these boxes. In the Photos from the original sales thread, Skull, Supergirl, Kobra, Champions, Shazam, Captain America, and Conan comics are shown. I got at least one (sometimes more) of those titles (except for the Skull) in my box. The 25 DCs per box seems about right.

  20. I bought a box as well. I think you need to read the original ad... It said at least 300 Marvel/DC. A long box contains more than 300 comics if they are unbagged/unboarded. My box contained about 300 Marvel/DC comics. It also contained about 40 comics that were clearly used as padding/filler (Heroes, Inc.) I'm assuming you got 35 copies of Heroes, Inc. I think that ad said generally VG and up as well so I wasn't expecting to find 9.4+ comics. (I bought them to stick the books onto my comic rack generally.) I don't think this thread is the place for this actually. Original Sales Thread: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3225807#Post3225807
  21. That's why I'd be surprised if history says the Copper Age kicked off with a response mini-series, even though it had a larger impact to the DC Universe as a whole. The way I've heard it, Crisis was in development for at least a couple of years before Secret Wars came out. Guess I could say my kids are in developement since I lost my virginity in high school back in the 80's, but I don't have any yet (that I know of). I think what he was saying was that DC led up to Crisis on Infinite Earths by first placing the Monitor in various comic books up to TWO years before Crisis #1 came out to set it all up...
  22. Got my grades back from CGC (online) One of them was a CGC 9.9 Unity 2000 #1 cover (that came with a 9.8 Unity 2000 #2) (It's my first submitted 9.9)
  23. Note that you're talking about Alan Moore the WRITER and not Swamp Thing #21 the COMIC. (Which means that Swamp Thing #20 is more important.) Is Green Lantern #76 special because it's by Neal Adam, the addition of Green Arrow, or because of its social relevance?
  24. Thanks. I just wanted to get an idea of the extent of this problem. I know some people have already been made whole in some fashion. So far: Junkenstein99 is out $100.00 for a downpayment on a Batman #52 MYNAMEIS LEGION is out $28.00 lookwhoitis is out $0.44
  25. I disagree. I just reread #20 and #21 (and even #19). Even in #20, the classic Moore'isms are there. The fearful symmetry. The cadence of his writing. The irony of the final sentence of a symmetrical two-page spread punctuated by the staccato rhythm of the first line on the following page. It's not so much the PLOT of Swamp Thing as it is the WRITING in my opinion. With Swamp Thing #20, the world was put on notice that something special was happening. Dan Day drew #20 but he was inked by Totleben. Bissette drew #21 with a co-credit to Totleben on #22.
