  1. WORST possible response! It's clearly the same book. I just overlayed them in Photoshop and they're clearly the same book. They both have the exact same physical defects in the exact same places.
  2. I only asked that as it was stated that either the BC had been cleaned (or the scan was photoshopped to show a cleaner BC.) Now if the BC was ACTUALLY cleaner, would that merit a grade increase to 9.2? Or 9.0? It was originally slabbed at 8.5 so we're talking a jump of one or two grades here. There are multiple issues here, but the pricing is indicative of the higher surmised grade. The fact that the pressing and previous slabbed grade was omitted from the new listing is a separate issue. (Though extremely unfortunate and bad form.)
  3. This has to be asked: Would the cleaning of the back cover raise the grade of this book to 9.2?
  4. Totally understandable, although that could point to a certain amount of lack of communication. Two of my Modern keys have been purchased through pre-sale (yes, through Jeff), and I won't hesitate to use his services again. Each to their own I suppose. I'm not saying Pre-Sales are bad. I'm just saying that since the seller doesn't have the book IN HAND, you shouldn't have to pay for it until the seller does. Or is the premature payment to preclude the seller from selling it for a higher price elsewhere in the meanwhile because no money has changed hands? (That would constitute a breach of contract IMO.)
  5. Personally, pre-sales are probably not the way to go generally. You don't know when CGC will actually ship the books. You don't know if the shipment will be lost or damaged. If you're going to do pre-sales, it'd probably be better to wait until you get the book IN HAND before accepting the money. (You can pre-sell them, but you tell the buyer to wait until the books come in to pay.) Otherwise, you're kind of getting an interest free loan for whatever extra time (15-30 days?) I understand needing to pay for the slabbing, but this way isn't it and the possibility of something happening is too great.
  6. I can see the issue here and it was after the funds were received. About an hour after it was received I mentioned the timing again and found it had not been mentioned previously. At that time I asked if he wanted to move forward. The option to cancel was made available at that time. He chose to go forward. Sounds like an okay situation to me... (canceling based on "new" information.) I've had books that were coming back from CGC (but listed on the site) that didn't come back for many weeks. I would completely agree if that were the case. If he had chosen to request a refund at that time then no problem. I offered to cancel it because of the new information. My bad. However payment along with the "new information" happened on the 6th along with the decision to proceed. On the 10th not only was a refund demanded but a paypal case filed even though I agreed to send him the refund. It is more the paypal case and claiming I changed the product and had some attitude. This is simply false. I agree. Why people do this is puzzling... In this case, the end result is probably the same, however. (Even though his actions were unwarranted and insulting.) He'd like his money back and he hasn't received the item yet.

  8. You don't need to close it. You ESPECIALLY don't need to bump it to let everyone know it's closed... (thumbs u
  9. REMINDER: Auctions start ending tonight at 8pm EST. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=69
  10. We'll be starting the Fundraiser Auction in the VCC Convention Hall in about 25 minutes at 3pm EST (12pm PST) (thumbs u
  11. If you're from Capitol City Comics, you could always list the conventions you set up at, etc. (if any) Welcome to the boards. Thanks for asking for advice before posting your For Sale thread. (thumbs u
  12. i don't know. i didn't think nice people stole other's hard earned money!?! Yes, and I understand that the deadliest poisonous mushrooms known to man, taste delicious! Who lived to tell about that then? It takes several days to die as your organs fall apart . . . My point is that I don't think that he intentionally set out to defraud people... but that his poor business decisions contributed to him crossing the line. No excuses there.
  13. Russ is a nice guy... but he's a horrible business owner.
  14. Note to self: monitor Sckao's board purchasing activity, drive by his house a few days later. That was my 4th TV... hence the small size. And I already have a Plasma... But yes, I don't see Tsimanga (who is local) as a person who would receive something and then claim it never arrived. EDIT: And now I just read it was received?
  15. Delivery Confirmation doesn't really say anything. It means it made it to the doorstep but that doesn't mean it was received. My mailman leaves packages on my porch all the time. UPS just left a 32" LCD tv and Blu-Ray player on my porch without actually seeing if I was home.
  16. It hasn't even been 30 days yet. There was another person who expressed interest in the same book. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3494849#Post3494849 If you look at his posts, he's posting books that are worth a lot more than $90 in the grade my book area... Doesn't seem worth it to stiff you over $90.00. (I sent him a PM in case he's not getting yours.)
  17. Nice job.. especially the little touches with the reflected light! (thumbs u
  18. Your D&D class would be "Nitpicker." That would be "Dungeon Master". My little brother actually sold my campaigns and artwork after we were done with them.
